I don't know if they ever publicly explained why they still verify journalist accounts, but it's essentially a verification of the news (i.e. this person is a journalist for a living so their words hold more credence).

They're not, typically, making value statements beyond "this person works full time for a recognized media organization as a journalist." They're less liberal when verifications are "on hold," but the criteria is the same.

As usual, our Hulkster is 100% right. But I really hope he never does get it.

That tweet is just steeped in his god-tier self-entitlement.. it even borders on genuine bewilderment that his demands remain unmet. He obviously gives a pretty serious shit about getting this stupid fucking checkmark.

And it would just be satisfying to see this formula he has learned & adopted of "Want Thing = Screech into Internet Void to give me Thing = Thing magically materializes" just completely fucking tank.
