Tips Goals - Peepul have been asking for them dood

no goal because he expects people to give him money solely to pay his bills. that was the unsaid goal
phil said a couple times that people shouldnt be giving money because of a goal
He's used this reasoning when called out for failing to fully meet many a Pay-me-Tons monthly goal. He expounds on Patrons donating purely because it helps him not for the fulfillment of a posted 'goal' he may or may not actually complete. A recent example would be his shelving multiple Patron voted games during his last Indies 'marathon' in favor of returning to play more of a game that had been netting more in the way of 'interaction'. This is how Minecraft became a 'Chill stream' staple....until it's 'interactivity' began to wane as in folks merely @-ing him without affixing quarters to their chat messages.
He's back to having a Total Tips counter and mentioned in pre-stream that he'll reset it every stream from now on, instead of having a daily total. He claims Muxy messes up the numbers or something when he does the daily total. Bugged Muxy mechanics, dood.
Tin foil hat time: One can imagine Khet shrewdly pointing out that paypigs home from a long day's work/classes might be less inclined to fork over their shekels after repeatedly seeing a daily Tip Goal/Total higher than they earned themselves/have as an allowance from their parents. I know this would have a chilling effect on my generosity. His $200 Tip Goal worked...the first couple of days. Day after day of receiving and still 'needing' another $200 can have folks pull out their fingers and start counting it all up. I shall at this time point out that his apparent inability to keep track of tips occurred after the $12k E7 windfall was known to have enriched D$P's coffers above and beyond his normal monthly haul.

We could be seeing the return of the $200 daily Tips Goal really soon:

"Yeah, you're right. At the same time, they're just meaningless because I don't know what I owe. I could do it if you really think that would motivate people to tip more. Maybe I'll set them up and do like $200 a day like I was doing last month, that would be great. But realisticly, I don't know how much I need to raise yet, so..."

how hard is it to come up with small tip goals
shave your beard, your hair, forced exercised(200 bucks for 10 pushups or some shit)
eating super hot food,gross food,etc
he just wants the goals to be solely be us being graced with his presence and not be forced to change

He has been given dozens of ideas on things people will pay for.

His entire business model is "please pay me as much as I need to have whatever I want while I do whatever I feel like doing."
he really does think that he himself is all anyone needs
that he is a god walking on earth and we should be kissing his gouty feet for just existing

Easiest thing for him to do is offer to just chat for 30 minutes after the stream is done if the goal is met.

Saw this from Drgnkiller so I have no idea what stream it was from but someone in chat said something like "you're asking for a lot of extra money, how about you do something extra that's worth me giving you my money" and Phil went off on a rant. He's busted his ass for 10 years, he's already doing everything he possibly can, this is the most disrespectful thing you could ever say, fuck you etc etc.

Forget the guys exact wording and it may have been a bit rude if it were said to anyone else, but with how insistent and entitled Phil has acted towards his fans and their money it was just a good point.

it just bugs me that phil not only wants to make a living, but an extravagant living while doing less than the minimum expected of a streamer

while other streamers actually bust their ass in an attempt to make enough to make a living

He would if it didn't cost him 2000 dollars.

Seriously though, I would love to be in his head for just long enough to know what his long-term plan is, assuming he even has one.

Literally inheritance lol.

I don't think a penny has been stashed at all for retirement. Which is really sad since self employed 'businesses' have options to additional tax advantaged retirement accounts. If you also consider that the U.S. stock market has been on a tear since '08, he'd be really pissed to know how much he's missed out on if he even put just $5k into a roth IRA every year. Nothing he could do!

But I'm sure his blu ray fortress is holding him down. :wall:

phil: I have extra money this month.. what should i do with it?
phil's conscience: save it or invest it so you have money for retirement
phil: yeah but if i buy shit i'm happy now
phil's conscience: oh shit you right.. also get some gin too

phil literally expects to play games for the rest of his life
and expects children to put up with a constantly angry and snorting "granpa" to play games badly
he knows deep down his job is easy, which is why he feels the need to go on about how hard his job is
and he's confident he'll be in his 70s looking and feeling the same as he does now, and not looking pathetic when the only things he can talk about are "things i saw out the window" and "things that happened several decades ago

That is another reason he won't join the workforce. He feels he is entitled to whatever he was making at the helicopter job. (Let's assume 40k+). He's still living in the pre 2013/2014 LOL job market where any idiot could make above 30k and get hired.

Tip goal

Many thought it was to replace the loss of not having a 2nd cat to reveal for $2k until the paycheck. Well, it's 23 Sept. He's been paid and not only is the $100/stream tip goal still on the whoreboard, but a NEW tip goal is being advertised for the up coming Navel Gazing Event. Enter posts here for posterity.

[Regretful Hindsight Edit: I copy + pasted this from @Raven'sChild post elsewhere, of course without the presence of mind to understand that this would make me the author of her post 💩]

Not a double-post, since the above post was really Raven'sChild's 🤓

A brief review of the resurrected Tips Goal:

This reappearance occurred September 5th, merely a month after the "2K Jasper Reveal"

You mean the tips goal? Yeah, he started doing that on the early stream of September 5th.

And if I'm counting (hopefully fairly accurately) all the tips since that date up until the latest stream, he has received around $75 per stream on average. Which I guess is slightly above average compared to a "normal" month, but substantially lower than the past two months (which were quite tip-heavy thanks to a couple of whales).

Phil's introduction of the new Tips Goal

Phil just skipped his begging segment where he recounts his history to do a little focused begging.
He knows things went well in August and that he is going to be doing well when he gets paid by Twitch. But this is not until the middle of the month.
"I've got no money. I've paid all the bills that needed to be paid earlier this month."
He still has 3 major important bills, condo association dues, a loan payment, and 'one or two credit cards' before the Twitch payment.
Before everyone freaks out and asked where the money went, it paid bills. Ad revenue, you see, on YT, you see, is the worst this year. It's declining every year. Nothing he can do about it.
Phil needs help.
Tipping, he swears to us, 100% of those funds is going to his bills.
He was "really good" for about a month, and now we're going to be behind on things again, and the hardcore gaming season is going to set him back because of all the games he has to buy. Please note that for that month, he was still begging.
"Don't worry, I'm never going to be like 'I've run out of content for streams, I can't afford anything to play on stream". But new releases might be an issue.
He's doing a tips goal to motivate people, even though they may not be able to hit it every day. He's REALLY NERVOUS though, and needs the help. The goal is currently $100.

Reminder that they're doing something for Kat's birthday this week. I'm sure that's unrelated to any of this and was notably not brought up.

This goal has persisted, despite its sole purpose to be simply for the "bills", through the course of the month

Why on earth is the fucking $100 tips goal still up? It's September 19th...

Can anyone who has been listening to the pre-stream from the beginning say if he mentioned something about that or not?

Fun fact...since Phil started the tips goal on the 5th, he's only made >= $200 in tips in a day 2 times. He also got $196 once. Every time, with the exception of one Minecraft stream, that he's hit the $100 stream goal, it was due to someone tipping >= $50. So the only way he's even hit a singular stream goal is to have a whale show up and do it for him.

Just wondering, how does it compare to what he was making without it?
Another question, when he had the 200 goal did he take it down or reset it for the night streams if he hit it?

Without doing any rigorous work, he's more or less making the same. It's a little hard to tell since he's really been begging hard for tips the last few months, so he's been getting more than he historically did. But within those last few months, I'd say it's about the same.

When he had the $200 tip goals, he would reset for each stream regardless of whether he hit it or not, just like now with the $100.

Edit: $100 tip goal was met tonight...with heaving_earth (phrenelith) tipping $55.01. Of course, since they were tips of $25 and $30.01, respectively, and someone else cheered 4k bits, it was all for nothing. Well, more nothing than usual.

Heaving came out of no where or do you think he’s just been a whale in waiting? Or maybe just someone who gets drunk and donates alot
