Game of Thrones Thread

Heelturns were definitely a theme of S8.
Cercei having a misscarriage and igniting the wildfire caches would have been much more understandable, but they wanted their "Mad Queen" subversion with 0 logic.
Varys being stupid and telling his plot in front of 10 people makes 0 logic for his character, but we need our "Mad Queen" plot twist.

BuT iT wAs foRsHadoWeD SIncE sEaSoN oNe! Seriously though, if we go by the logic that her indifference to viserys death as an early sign, then Sansa and Tyrion (and many more) are even worse considering Tyrion murders his father and threatens his nephew with death and mutilation or that Sansa herself showed little to no reaction to Rickon as well as her killing Ramsey.

You know, now I'm morbidly curious to see what D&D will do to star wars. They basically jumped on a sinking ship and their bad record with Game of thrones follows them. They'll probably hated there too, just not to the extent of Ruin Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy

One of my main criticisms of the Night King being killed before the Iron Throne plot was resolved was that it meant that it would not matter who'd end up on the throne, since at best, it would be someone ruling for a few years and doing a good job, before utter chance sets up a heir or new ruler, whereas the worst possible outcome was someone ruling for a few years and doing a bad job, before utter chance sets up a heir or new ruler.

That is to say: Even in the worst case scenario of someone going full "Mad King" levels of crazy and burning down thousands of people while ruling with an iron fist, this person would eventually die and be replaced.
This would mean, that nothing really was at stake any longer.

Then came the rest of the episodes and oh boy, did they deliver more than I bargained for.
D&D shat on the character development and arcs of a whole lot of characters, killing them off or twisting them into ridiculous and stupid ways, but what we end up in the Iron Throne plot is just absurd.

It's kind of ironic, really.
D&D were seen as the best thing since sliced bread when GoT was at its height. Now that they are done with GoT and change over to Star Wars, they managed to piss off pretty much everyone on every side of the political spectrum just in time.
They were taken under contract when they were hot shit, now they are just shit.
It's kind of like with Carrie Fisher. They decided to make IX about Leia and Carrie Fisher (sadly) died after TLJ was finished.
Star Wars, once again, bet on the wrong horse.

And I agree, I want to see them make a Star Wars movie or even trilogy, these hacks will surely deliver some top notch entertainment. Just not the way how Disney wants them to.

Wouldn't be surprised since they're hacks. Apparently they raised hell against the music composer for some minor thing.

I still maintain that Melisandre was one of the few characters to get a complete arc. Only gripe is that we know nothing about her backstory.

They really fucked up killing off all the Tyrells that's for sure. And you give Highgarden to fucking BRONN of all people?

Hang on, someone sort me out on this: as I understand it, there were caches of the glowy green splodey stuff that blew up the Fantasy Vatican all around the city, because the crazy old king had stashed them there or something.
You know, you want a subversion, how about having Dany level the city she's trying to take because she set it on fire when there's massive quantities of high explosives underneath it? It would actually be funny as hell if you played it right.

Does it count as a complete arc when you basically just drop dead for no reason other than the writers don't have anything more for you to do?

She literally was there just to fulfill the prophecy and defeat the white walkers. So once she did that she was like "lol fuck you all it's been fun byeeee"
She was saying she was meant to die for years lol.
She went out mission accomplished which is better than some of the fates of the other characters.....

No she didn't. She was literally this meme:

She gave an entirely pointless charge of light cavalry a few useless torch-swords that did jack-shit and then she set fire to a pyre that anyone else could have lighted much more quicker with a torch, if they had gotten the same amount of defense that she got... and said burning moat was entirely pointless, too.

Neither of these two things mattered in the least way imaginable.
The only purpose she had in that episode, they only actual, tangible purpose, was to spew 2 lines:
1) She says that Dondarrion won't come back, cause he accomplished his mission (implying Arya is super important)
2) To remind Arya that she told her she'd shut brown eyes, green eyes and blue eyes, as a not-so-subtle hint to the audience that what they were about to be subjected to was supposedly planned all along and not some last-minute asspull.

I don't want to sound like an ass here, but Melisandre was utterly pointless and her only job in that episode was to act as a dialogue dispenser.

For book readers:

What are your favorite theories that weren't in the show?

Mine are:
  • Young Griff is Aegon Blackfyre
  • The Shavepate poisoned the locusts
  • Lyanna Stark is the Knight of the Laughing Tree
  • The Night Lamp (Stannis defeats both the Frey and Bolton army)
  • Sandor Clegane is the Gravedigger
  • Dany has contacted the bloody flux at the end of A Dance with Dragons
  • Bolt-on (Roose Bolton is a skin-stealing immortal, possibly a white walker)
  • Gregor Clegane is Ser Robert Strong

Sandor Clegane is the Gravedigger
Gregor Clegane is Ser Robert Strong
These two are in the show, though. In the books, the Gravedigger lives with some group of religious people, as does Clegane in the show, only I don't think we see him dig graves.
When Zombie Clegane is introduced to Cersei after her walk of shame, he is called Robert Strong by Qyburn.

A theory I like is that the Braavosi prostitute known as the Sailor's Wife is Tysha, the peasant girl that Tyrion married.

Edit:
Anyway, since I haven't watched the last few episodes and only have a few infos:
The Wildlings went back behind the wall and Jon is send back to Castle Black . . . Why aren't the Wildlings staying in the North and what exactly is Jon going to do at the Nightswatch now?
They literally have no reason to exist any longer. Arya stabbed the Night Cuck, there won't be any threat beyond the wall.

Are there any explanations for this garbage?

Then she gets blamed for it and everyone assumes she did it on purpose because she's batshit when actually she's sane? Sounds like an interesting conflict but we really need to wrap all this up.
