VicRev was the best one and pure autistic heroin even though I'm still shit at manipulating its economy to my advantage. Vic2 is a completely unrecognizable Eu3 clone that I'm still pissed about.

I hate this latest update, i mean look at what it did to my map View attachment 813036 especially in Egypt where the update deleted counties in a way that breaks Africa in two, now if i play as my Zunist Karluk dynasty the gme wants me to go through europe to get to the rest of Africa( Btw i'm offmap to the east) and i hate this damn problem and i don't know what to do anymore, i tried everything i could think of to fix this but it doesn't work

Are you playing an old save on an updated patch? You're gonna have to roll back if you want to keep playing that game.

I'm more of a classical than medieval guy but I only know of a handful of times somone tried to march forces west overland there because it's some of the worst desert in the world. Even then the "armies" that did it were incredibly small.

Now if only there was some way to force the crusaders to take a land route to the Holy Land like they did in real life.

So you'd add more special mechanics and solidify the mandate system even more?

There's already too much snowflake shit in eu4. It's all great until you aren't playing as that nation, then the AI can't handle any of it. (See Russia imploding due to strelsy(sp?) spam)

AI ming is already dogshit, no need to make them worse.

The reason that I liked ck2 was because it wasn't a map painting simulation...

Then they added retinues and bonuses that made succession less chaotic.

my proposal simply makes it harder for bigger powers to expand due to internal management. I don't think we should have country specific rules and systems. I'd rather if all countries were held the same mechanics and their destiny was defined by their geography and leadership (player).

I wouldn't exactly call it a triumph of game design but isn't the sector AI sucking the whole point?
No, and not having a consistent purpose is their biggest downfall. Depending on who you ask and when the purpose behind sectors will be completely different. Some people say they're a convenience feature designed to make the running of a galactic empire not tedious. Other people claim it was an intentional limitation placed on players to stop them from snowballing. In either case I never use them.

I have a request for a favor from you all. It's a bit of work.

I'm apparently on probation until Late 2020, not Late 2019, as I thought. This doesn't prevent me from using any mods, but it does prevent me from using all of the good ones.

I was thinking, maybe some of you would be generous enough to download the files on my behalf and send them to me (with the correct dates for each mod).

The ones I care about most are:
- CK+ (CK2)
- After the End Fan Fork (CK2)
- MEIOU and Taxes (EU4)
- Pop Demand Mod (specifically, the Congress of Europe submod) (V2)

The modders won't distribute the mods anywhere but the forums or Steam because they don't want to piss off Paradox.

Update: Apparently MEIOU and Taxes, at a minimum, works off of Steam. I know for a fact that I can't get PDM. It feels great to play MEIOU and Taxes again.

If you have to waste an entire year of your life, just download the original Crusader Kings and attempt to slog that shitfest out. I've completed a game in that precisely once and it was such a time sink that I think I probably would have a Noble Prize by now if it weren't for my desire to finish that game.

CK1 was pretty fun for it's time. I played it a ton back in the day because it the game with its expansion was free if you subscribed to the Paradox newsletter around the time CK2 was announced. It was fundamentally broken (the base game was taken over and completed by Paradox because the original studio went under/couldn't finish it) in some ways but also could be very amusing, like how random sheikhdoms would pop up in Europe because of the weird diplomacy AI. The game had a lot of charm to it (the classic potato faces!)

And even though it was a buggy feature (mainly because the AI would fuck it up) I liked how you could balance the power between the various groups (nobles, merchants, clergy, peasants) in your provinces which affected revenue, number/types of soldiers, etc. I know they replaced it with the system of peasant revolts and the holdings in the provinces in CK2 but that didn't feel like a proper replacement. And I don't know if it was a game mechanic or just my imagination/bad memory but I swear different cultures had troops in different proportions (independent from the province power mechanic) so Byzantium, Germany, and France would have tons of knights and heavy infantry, Italy had more archers and pikemen, while the Baltic and Finland would have mostly light infantry and cavalry and few heavy troops. CK2 only had the unique buildings which didn't quite replicate that (although I think a mod might've had something like that). It was an interesting feature too, because it's both realistic and helped make regions distinct.

Become a nakama and use the Steam workshop downloader. There is always room for one more on the Thousand Sunny.

There is a WordPress with all of the good mods on 4chan+8Chan.

Honestly it seems like most game devs get completely fucking mogged by modders, which is why I can't really respect them.
How the fuck does some Russian 15 year old working for free manage to deliver content so much better than a paid worker.
This is especially prevalent with Mojang, where all the actual content in the update is about a week of mod work, and it takes them half a decade to add incredibly simple high demand stuff people could get in mods.

It doesn't help that Johan loves sniffing his own farts and destroys the games with his shitty mana fetish and seems to hold active contempt for paradox's fanbase.

If MEIOU was an actual independent game I would buy it in a heartbeat, they would never go independent bless their hearts, I feel bad for them because they have to deal with Paradox's shitty forum (Did you just say Kebab? ALLAHU AKB&) it's not like Paradox holds a copyright on history itself. Also part of me feels like if MEIOU was actual EU4 the game would be a LOT more successful. Most reasons to dislike EU4 come back to one thing, the fucking mana, newbies are scared of EU4's button spam when it's all just different ways to cast mana. The old players just hate mana itself, mana appeals to literally no one but Johan.

Also do you ever notice that Sweden is always OP in their games?
EU4 Sweden has Prussia tier ideas despite being irrelevant for every year between the beginning of the universe to 1630 and then again for every year between 1721 to the end of fucking time. Denmark is more relevant than Sweden.

I avoided Imperator because I was well aware from the start it was just more of Johan jacking himself off with the mana, seriously can we stop with the fucking mana.
Even in Imperator tribals get ridiculous retinues, allowing Sweden to be OP.

Make a mod that greatly reduces the number of transport ships?

True, Crusader Kings II is not a map painting simulator, but it took Paradox years after the release of the game to fix issues with runaway expansion. Now did Paradox succeed with 'bad boy points' or infamy? I would say that it is mixed in regards to how the expansion is handled, and how people react to your expansion. For example, if you expand into Muslim lands and you are a Roman Catholic, should the Pope be mad at you? I would think not, but Paradox did not differentiate between the two very well between the opinion of you and killing Muslims for the Lord. I think that is because the game engine itself is very old and frail from where it is today with nearly a dozen expansions and map size that has increased. Holy Fury adds many casus belli's that make religious expansion into pagans lands far easier; I recall how expansion in Crusader Kings II took forever to get a casus belli on land holdings.

Sweden is op in every non hoi paradox game. Nothing new.
Even in HOI they're good. Since they have shit manpower but decent IC, you can fortify the Oresund (strait across from Denmark) and watch the Nazis endlessly try and attack you there. Then you can help save Norway from Nazi aggression with your army since they usually don't land too many troops. Swedish Navy rules though, since it's all coastal defense ships (remember to build a few extra) which can go toe-to-toe with anything the Kriegsmarine has. I sunk a sizable portion of the Kriegsmarine with the Swedish Navy plus Swedish Air Force when I played Sweden (UK took care of the rest). Norway is a hard but fun fight though.

Unfortunately your generals are mediocre at best but oh well, they're good for what you have. Compared to other minor powers like any Latin Americans or Turkey or Spain they kick ass and unlike Belgium or Netherlands they aren't doomed to get run over in a week. Modern tech and everything. They're a very fun game, at least in HOI3, even though there isn't much to do when the Kriegsmarine is dead and you've liberated Norway other than mess around with the AI trying to cross the Oresund and watching the bodies pile up in the water.

Now Sweden in CK2, that's fun. I like how because of the terrain you can just raise a bunch of ships and use it to easily bring large armies down on rebels anywhere in your country. Saves a lot of time and money and makes things easy.

No thanks to you all, I did find several of my mods. Apparently CK+ works through Steam now (though they forgot to add cultures for Moravian lords) and Victoria II's modding formula is fully accessible even when you're on probation.

Does anybody know good alternate history or map expansion mods for CK2/EU4?

You boys need to try Lex Invicta for CK2.

It's got a very rich (overwhelmingly detailed, it's a clusterfuck) alternate history world where Europe is still pagan/Hellenistic in Medieval times, with complex building systems and administration and all that shit, but the most important thing is that you can wage wars to enslave your enemies, then force them to rape each other to make new slaves.

Is Johan going to continue to work in Imperator or he is going to give that tast to another guy and focus in another project?

No, you have to go for CK2, seriously it has a high learning curve but once you get down the basic mechanics, it's gonna be a badge of honor among your friends list when they see you play CK2.
Is darkest hour the Cold War game I’ve been looking for? I can tell it’s old, so does it compare in content/things you can do. Is North Korea fun?
