Ya'll need to stop dogging on my girl Captain Marvel. That's right. I've converted. I love Captain Marvel, she's such a stunning and brave character and I can't wait to play her in Ultimate Alliance 3.
I think playing the numbers game is stupid but buried on the forums is me doing some number crunching on the demographics of Marvel when they were replacing everyone.
The TL;DR was the majority of nuMarvel protagonists were young-ish white women with a minority of adult black men. Every other demographic was underutilized to the point that some like Kamala Khan and Riri Williams were basically the only examples of their demographic. I don't really think Marvel has a diversity problem to begin with but it is funny how the "New and Diverse Marvel" was just white girls and some black men.
You need to put the biggest air quotes around "Men" there. They've castrated most of their usually badass black males. Skin color is never a big deal, but if you want representation why make every black male effeminate... Are they too scary and violent otherwise? Who are the real racists?
Fair enough, I just had 'douche vibes' from him. But, if you feel he is genuine...doesn't matter. I've only kept a passing interest in this drama(which is fading)...
Yaboi doesn't know everything about everyone, I think him willing to do research on something before writing about it is more than you can say about most writers in the field today (look at Female Furies as Exhibit A-F) I get the feeling he knows a bit about Conan, maybe enough to know the current run of Conan has put him at a less than interesting iteration of the former character - but he's not the creator himself, yaknow?
As for the douchey vibes, he's a weirdo comic nerd in his forties who got shot at in the military for a good portion of his life and has been married more times than Captain Marvel's been rebooted in the last three years. So I can see where you could feel how you feel, but he comes off more "dad humorist" than douchy in my opinion, it's why I can still watch his videos.
The Mark Waid thing comes from being called out by pros "You don't like our shit, PRODUCE YOUR OWN" and he did, and any writer, let alone comic writer wants to see their baby on the shelf, to prove themselves - and Waid allegedly took that away from him. That's why he harps on it, they gave him a goal, and before he could achieve it, they took the goal from him and threw it away. Jaw Breakers is his first big story, and if it's not that good, I get it, Chip Zdarsky was floundering on Spider-Man for a while, but eventually he molded his writing into better work - so I'd say wait till Jaw Breakers II comes out, see if he's improved and if you don't think so, yaknow... then give him hell for being shit.

They did this in reboot #165 - to make her look more like Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, same reason SLJ's Fury is the new Fury of the 616, etc.

Oh my. I was optimistically doubtful that woke capeshit would not infect the MCU.
Crossing my fingers that Captain Marvel ordering child soldier to hold American citizens in black site extra-judicial prisons gets into theaters. Extra joy if they don't think twice about portraying it as heroic. I'll settle for Riri stealing from Tony Stark or Rayshaun Lucas firebombing a bank though. Any one of these could single-handedly destroy the MCU if they handle it like they did in the comics.
How did her books sell? Natalie Portman is not a stunning actress, and her roles in the Thor movies was never what sold the tickets. So, good luck with selling this film. Taika Waititi is a good enough comedy director, but I hated Ragnarok. After Edngame I've pretty much packed my bags on the MCU, I didn't like this bullshit in comics, why would I actively put myself through this shit in theaters? As far as I'm concerned, they can do whatever they want
