Man, I don't want to sit through 155 minutes of CGI bullshit for hopes of finding a single memeable scene. TROS (don't call it ROtS, that's fucking heresy) will be such an abortion of cinema that I'd rather watch the Holiday special stone cold sober.

Just watch ROtS with your buddies instead. You'll be able to see it more than once in that time!

Well Fandango published numbers but...it's the same spins as Atom.
Fandango reports that in the opening hours of Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker going on sale, the pic sold more tickets than any other Star Wars movie on Fandango, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In regards to daily sales, as of Wednesday, Skywalker is the #1 daily ticket-seller on Fandango, representing more than half of today’s ticket sales, even though the highly-anticipated blockbuster doesn’t open for another two months.

They usually keep a list for the presales of the first 24 hours ...but just like Atom (Atom only counted one hour ) they made a special exception where they only counted a few opening hours and in those unknown hours it beat TFA. When they spin it like this...I can't tell anything from the information other than that it didn't beat TFA in the first 24 hours presales. Lower or higher than TLJ and Rogue One I don't know.

It's the companies private numbers, not public. They release info sometimes to make headlines ( Solo twice the presales over Black Panther the first 24 hours). I guess they could only make a headline if they took the first few hours of presales for this movie. And no info on how it fared the rest of the day. Might be connected to more stable servers now (TFA and Endgame both crashed the servers) and bigger audience for presales ( getting more common to buy trough apps then at counter)

Well, the "more than TFA in a few hours" is such a bizarre and suspect thing. TFA came out 4 years ago, Fandago was smaller back then, so something selling more on a larger platform isn't even that amazing.
I'm seeing overwhelming apathy outside of extreme soy circles.

I know /tv/ isn't super soy, but the highest SW thread there at the moment is on page 2, and none of these threads breach 300 replies.
It's dead in the water for non fans, and I think that there are some soyboys who can be convinced not to go by pointing out how problematic omg this movie is, mostly by pointing out how the black girl runs around a jungle with a bow and arrows and horses.

Exactly, me too. Saying opening hours is definitely a spin because just look how many hours have passed, almost 48, but giving some statistic that will make headlines is free advertising for them. These articles are being spammed as if some proof that the movie will be successful , but they're not. We will know in maybe week two of release, then we will see what is the opening weekend and how fast the movie is dropping.

Sadly I don't see them ever retconning Carrie Fishers last performance, and Mark and Harrison aren't getting younger either.

They will probably go into "old republic era" for a new fresh trilogy because there is nowhere else to go. Even then the Jedi are cheapened forever by Rian Johnsons lack of imagination. Remember how grand and majestic those ancient sith temples looked , we got a fucking Island off Ireland.

But considering the current direction the MCU is going, its hard to tell whether he's drank the koolaid or if he's being forced to make movies like this by the execs. Part of me hopes it is the fault of executive meddling and that its not his fault. And if he has the power to somehow fix SW (which is a very :optimistic::optimistic::optimistic::optimistic::optimistic: assessment) then that'd be nice, but its just hard to see things improve with how much crap is weighing it down (not to mention SW being tied down to Marvel comics and EA instead of being back with Dark Horse and the now dead LucasArts) and I don't think he'd be allowed to retcon Disney's shit, at least not easily since it would mean the scorn of Reylos and a bunch of self-entitled authors and directors. On another note despite the praise the Mandalorian is getting in the US, some russian review sites (which I think was posted on That Star Wars Girl, Doomcock or G&G) are saying the show's all glitter but no substance, with it relying too much on nostalgia and action but no story or developed characters, which is odd since Russian reviewers still had a hardon for Disney Wars last I checked.

Of course the bitch betrayed him, and so here we are dealing with her mess. I guess it's George's mess too, but I also remember someone mentioning that Spielberg talked Lucas into entrusting the company to Kennedy. Spielberg's daughter would later be the reason we got Alden Ehrenreich for young Han Solo instead of the obvious choice in Anthony Ingruber (almost said Hans Gruber there, heh).

So the name of Not-Endor where the Death Star ruins are is finally confirmed, its the planet that was mentioned before in the new Ultimate Guide (I posted pages from it a little while ago which also confirmed Zorry Bliss is a shitty human) that is listed as the homeworld of Finn's sister aka Keffir Kef Bir.

Also since this really isn't Endor, how did this shit get there? In the old EU, they at least claimed a wormhole was created by the collapse of the hypermatter core to explain why Endor didn't get fried and how the ruins ended up on Dac, but in the new EU they claim that shit stayed floating in space while Rebel ships shot down anything that fell and instantly set up planet covering shields from out their ass over Endor, and even then some debris did fucking fall without completely nuking large acres of forest for some reason. How then did this almost whole thing make its way to a completely unrelated forest moon that turned into an ocean moon?

So much for that "improved and more consistent canon" they promised. There's been examples of this before but this will be their most blatant inconsistency due to coming from a "popular" game.

Also its been confirmed in the same guide that the tribe of warriors that Finn's sister lives with are not Ewoks but her actual family she returned to and they're considered a "noble and proud people" possibly based on Africa. Since this is her homeworld, this will likely be Finn's homeworld as well and where he has the shitty family reunion moment some early leaks talked about. So this is lunar Africa that became shit and flooded because of the Galaxy's fault? So its donut steal Endor, Korun and Dac rolled up into one to boot?

The question that needs to be answered, is it worth giving your money to Disney for 3 minutes of Ian Mcdiarmid going full UNLIMITED POWA?

I mean I might have sat through it for half an hour, 20 minutes at least. But 3? Naah kaffir I want my insane scottish scenery chewer to take up at least a third of the movie before I willingly get in line.
