Notepad++ v7.8.1 : Free Uyghur
2019-10-29

freeUyghur.png

Human rights in China is always a hotly contested topic. Since 2017, numerous reports have emerged of the Uyghur people being detained in extrajudicial “re-education camps”, subjected to political indoctrination, and sometimes even torture. 2018 estimates place the number of detainees in the hundreds of thousands.

The Uyghurs are not ethnically Chinese but live in China’s so-called autonomous Xinjiang region. The region’s name suggests the Uyghurs have autonomy and self-governance. But similarly to Tibet, Xinjiang is a tightly controlled region of China. After the recent Xinjiang conflict, Beijing has recast the Uyghur ethnic group as a terrorist collective. This has allowed Beijing to justify its transformation of Xinjiang into a surveillance state. There has also been a marked rise of Islamophobia across China.

At least 120,000 members of Kashgar’s Muslim Uyghur minority have been detained in Xinjiang’s re-education camps which aim to change the political thinking of detainees, their identities, and their religious beliefs. Reports from the World Uyghur Congress submitted to the United Nations in July 2018 suggest that 1 million Uyghurs are currently being held in the re-education camps.

Here are some actions you can take to help them:

https://uhrp.org/what-you-can-do

The fact you have just learned such information is already an action in and of itself. But you can involve more people to focus on this issue and hopefully apply additional pressure on the Chinese government to stop their oppressive actions and crimes concerning the Uyghur people.

People will tell me again to not mix politics with software/business. Doing so surely impacts the popularity of Notepad++: talking about politics is exactly what software and commercial companies generally try to avoid. The problem is, if we don’t deal with politics, politics will deal with us. We can choose to not act when people are being oppressed, but when it’s our turn to be oppressed, it will be too late and there will be no one for us. You don’t need to be Uyghur or a Muslim to act, you need only to be a human and have empathy for our fellow humans.

Hence Notepad++ Free Uyghur Edition:

As expected, Hacker News has removed a lot of threads on that topic.

The moral of the story: use Sublime Text.

I find it hilarious that you're calling Western Democracy a dictatorship of the rich, when the people are allowed to vote for who they want to be Prime Minister, President, etc. And by people, I mean everyone, the rich, the poor, the proletariat, etc; they're all allowed to vote for whomever they please. Democracy as a form of government is not a dictatorship in any shape or form.
One of the detractors is almost making OPs point for him. If all the candidates are pre-selected and the information about them
A github user called "Antifa" has started a takeover of the Zeronet project and polluting the code with a few PRs of his own and then opening licensing disputes over them. He also registered a few domains with the zeronet name attached to it and started shitposting on the zeronet issues and reddit about it.

It is no secret that Zeronet causes a great deal of discomfiture with the left-leaning tech community due to it's uncensorable and DoS resistant nature (8ch has an offshoot on it as well). This may be the beginning of a new wave of trannies removing projects of "inconvenient technology" from public access, i dunno.
What basis? I tell you! Hungary has 500 KM electrified razor fences in the south border where they brutally beating refugees and migrant every day.
Hot.

Okay, I posted this in the off-topic channel on the Rust Community Discord: https://github.com/HelloZeroNet/ZeroNet/issues/2265#issuecomment-549158624

Edit: archive of the unsafe channel on that server: https://kiwifarms.net/attachments/unsafe_channel-zip.993463/

Hacker News mods are pretty damn good, they only attached the other threads to the main one to funnel discussion to a single point. Thankfully HN isn't Reddit, and Dan G just politely ignores all the sperging about how the mods are nazis and the users are all good bois who never dindu nuffin'.

holy shit what a sped. Does he really think he can null zeronet's license and transfer it to himself?

He does, it is also clear that he has a mental defect as his posts get increasingly more unhinged (the dev had to collab-only his threads because people started pouring in and turn the PR's and Issues tab into a lolcow forum:

Troons leaving any project is always a plus. GTFO troons, don't come back.

There the German goes again, fantasizing about invading Poland and shooting people in the head.

I should've also mentioned that I looked through all their Twitter's, but I didn't find anything interesting.

So, the Godot game engine recently introduced a CoC. it doesn't look as woke as the Linux one, with the exception for this part: View attachment 997232

What I do in private is none of your damn business.

Also, pronouns are in the team description: View attachment 997241
I have a bad feeling about this.
I'm not shocked that a game engine that fell for the whole "let's remove the word slave as its problematic" meme would implement a restrictive code of conduct that features the controversial off site activity rule.

Does anything notable use Godot?

At least is looks universal. The gnome CoC only applies if you're "privileged".

Git also added a CoC incase anyone missed it.
Not much drama from what I can see though.
Can't really blame them for using idpol to pull in unqualified troons and dangerhairs actually.
Anyone with any real skill is going to spend their free time working on literally anything else.

It's incredible to see CoC's being implemented in projects where you wouldn't even think these things happen like a fucking DE.
Then again some people are more fragile than glass these days and look for hammers to shatter them just to feel like they have power. It's pathetic.

Most of this shit doesn't really happen, it's a power play. The people that push it are coincidentally often also people that don't add much else to the project or the pressure comes from the outside by people who have absolutely nothing to do with the project. They basically go from big project to big project crybullying until they get their way. Doesn't work always and some developers just go "lolno" (which really is all it takes to take the wind out of the sails of these folks at that stage - never move an inch, never give them any power over you - there's no way to appease them, you can either carter to their every whim or you're against them and an unperson - no way in between) but sadly too many bend over backwards to appease these people, usually when corps are involved and people are afraid to lose their jobs over this shit. It's disgusting.

Also GNOME sucks anyways. Has for a while. Almost everything GNOME is a bloated piece of shit.
