Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The CCP doesn't seem to realize they have lost. They can "quarantine" people, they can kill people, but the people will not stop telling the world the truth. Pray for these brave men and women. The CCP has demonstrated they care only about saving "face". Anyone who looks at the material about these "instant hospitals" will realize that in just a few moments. Having hundreds, if not a couple of thousand, beds/mattresses packed into a relatively small, confined space isn't the best environment for people suffering from coronavirus/pneumonia/flu/etc. Opportunities galore for cross-infection. You KNOW the hospitals maintained for the CCP elite will take every precaution to prevent cross-infection; money is no object when caring for these people. The Emperor and his mandarins prosper at the expense of the people, and don't give a fuck about the people at all.

The CCP is not creating one martyr, but an entire group, whose names will not be forgotten, at least in Wuhan.

The CCP doesn't seem to realize that they have no idea what they are doing. They are clustering people together. Mixing maybes, or just the sniffles with confirmed cases. This is 18th Century Plague Hospitals. The best thing they could have done is send Every one home. Quarantine in your home with your immediate family. Task some of the responders to act as well wrapped care providers and food delivery teams. Each home gets a wellness check morning and afternoon. Set of Vitals, etc. Access what if any meds are needed. Have delivery team drop them off, move on. Only those needing major intervention. High flow O2 or Ventilator or IV therapy get transported to the Hospital.

The way you get something like this to burn itself out is you stop feeding it bodies. Minimize peoples interactions. Not pile everyone up together in one big room.

I'm thinking the Virus may have far better persistence in the environment than anyone is admitting. But even then, WTF are they doing. Has anyone ever seen trucks like that? And if so what is their normal use? Just watching the spray pattern from the trucks I can't fathom what it is they are trying to do, beyond "disinfect the street behind them"? The mist isn't going up or spreading outwards, so it's meant to dissinfect surfaces? If so they would be better with a more traditional sprinkler system? Hosing down surfaces with disinfectant.

Maybe they are spraying Medical Marijuana into the city to mellow out the populace? It makes as much sense as anything else they are doing.

As for the other thing... wow! They are digging a deep pit... in the quarantine zone... Can anybody come up with a reason for that that doesn't end in "Mass Grave"? Because I've got nuthin'!
The trucks aren't a new thing in China and are normally filled with water to mist the air and help with smog control. It wouldn't surprise me if it's still only water, it looks impressive if nothing else.

This isn't 1958, 1962, 1967, 1976, or 1989. The CCP controlled the message in all but 1989. Here, they cannot stop all the people with cell phones sending videos. These are seen in real time by people around the world, like us.

The China of 2020 isn't the China of 1989. Today's China is integrated into the world economic system. It has pretensions to becoming a great power, if not a superpower. Projecting the image of a great power aspiring to become a superpower is vital. The CCP reaction to the virus outbreak shows the world the CCP simply will never be ready for prime time. Their glittering cities have terrible medical systems and even worse water systems, for starters. It's as if the curtain at the land of OZ was lifted, showing Emperor Xi flailing away. This Emperor has been proven to have no clothes.

Should the Chinese start massacring their own people, watch how fast economic sanctions hit them. We export relatively little to China. Suppliers who used to be in China moved to Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico, back to the USA. Anyway, the CCP is beyond that. Easier to just let them die, in the "death houses", in their small apartments, in their villages.
Yes they can. Turning off cell phone service in a broad area is a lot easier than you think, they just haven't been pressed to the point where they would actually do that. But if they wanted, the CCP could totally turn off the internet and cell phone service over a broad area, kill a lot of people, and then just make up whatever story suits them.

Even if CCP dreams of superpower status do get dashed, that says nothing about their ability to quash any would-be revolution. The people of China are largely unarmed, and unarmed crowds of any size are rather easily answered by machine guns and tanks. Even economic collapse doesn't stop a determined dictatorship from killing its way out of a crisis - see for example Assad, who had to struggle against a much more hostile population but looks quite set to win the civil war. The sad truth is that tyrannies rarely fall unless the regime or at least a large part of it has simply given up. The USSR could have kept stumbling along for some time had it been willing to crush the rebellions in the Warsaw Pact and in its own territory by force of arms again. The Iranian regime has endured decade after decade of harsh sanctions and protests, in part by its willingness to just kill protesters that get too annoying.

I don't doubt that killing their people would be a bad PR move, but speaking honestly they could probably survive liquidating tens of millions of them right in front of as many cameras as they cared to. They have nukes, so no one is seriously going to contemplate attacking them. They have allies that don't care about human rights or have no one else to do business with. And they have a military with a demonstrated willingness to kill on command. It may be cynical, but unless Xi keels over from the disease himself I don't think he'll have much trouble weathering this storm.

I found a round about translation of the Chen Qiushi friend's update video. A Korean is translating to English from a copy that had been subtitled in Korean. Not ideal, but we get a better picture.

TL;DR(W) Qiushi was detained because he visited several hospitals. They took his cell phone and will not let him communicate. He is in the shitty fang hospital left to die even though he is not ill.

Honestly, the only good thing I can see about this is that the CCP went from something most people just ignored to quickly earn the hate of a lot of people that wouldn't ordinarily care that much about them.

It's hard not to have your blood boil after everything they are doing like arresting doctors for speaking up. Whether or not this virus was manmade or not, it's their fault things went this bad.

Turns out free people outside of China's echo-chamber don't really buy their BS.

Quarantining people for extended periods yields some humorous events

That's pretty much what the original text of that claim was saying-that America wants to sabotage China because otherwise "CHINA NUMBA ONE" would become a reality.
I guess I was thinking more long term, in the sense that this could be a stepping stone to finally bring down NK. But than again, tensions between the north and south are lower than ever. There is a sort of optimism growing on both sides of the DMZ, from what I have seen of NK press releases and statements.

But i highly doubt this is the case. Any destabilizing is more a symptom of this pandemic, not a reason behind it.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer here.

But the likelihood of an untrained individual being able to successfully maintain, use, and decontaminate a P100 mask (much less clothes tbh) in a biological environment is so stacked against them, that the purchase of the mask is a waste of time. In some event that the virus becomes as prevalent in the west as it is in China, your best bet will be spending your money on dry staples that you can eat instead. Spend it on ensuring an adequate water supply. Unless you have some extremely pressing manner that forces you out of your home, you absolutely should not be running into a situation where you should need a mask in the first place.

You must have these masks fitted to you. They are not one-size-fits-all. Do you know when during the decon procedure you should be doffing your mask? Do you know the manufacturer's recommended chemicals for decon? Do you know how to store your mask? Do the goggles you purchased fit well with your mask? Where will you be decontaminating yourself at? Are you decontaminating yourself without assistance? Do you understand how difficult that is without help? How will you wash contaminated clothing? What guarantee do you have that you will be 100% sure each expedition outside won't track contaminants into your 'clean' area? Does the manufacturer even recommend the filter you purchased for biological contaminants? The mask?

If you absolutely must buy masks, buy disposable N95 masks if at all possible. I am always a bit suspicious whenever the CDC or any other government agency warns us not to buy something in bulk - after all they're going to need them - but I'm pretty in line with their guidance about masks. All this being said, I don't think this virus is going to run through the west quite like it is in China. Only until a cluster really starts to grow in the US or another western nation (say several hundred or thousand getting sick within a week in a major city) would I begin to seriously worry. At this time, my best recommendation is to focus on securing dry goods to allow you to stay home. Beans and rice.

EDIT: Just to clarify, not beating up on Rudy Russo here.

TLDR: "Make the perfect the enemy of the good".

American with coronavirus died in Wuhan, China, embassy says
The person was a 60-year-old U.S. citizen, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing said.

A U.S. citizen diagnosed with novel coronavirus has died in China in what appears to be the first death of an American from the virus that has sickened tens of thousands of people in China and killed more than 700, a U.S. embassy spokesperson said.

"We can confirm a 60-year-old U.S. citizen diagnosed with coronavirus died at Jinyintian Hospital in Wuhan, China on Feb. 6," a spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing said.

"We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss. Out of the respect for the family’s privacy, we have no further comment," the spokesperson said.

The New York Times first reported the death of the American in Wuhan.

China’s national health commission said that as of Saturday morning local time, there had been 722 deaths from the virus in the mainland.

Two people have died elsewhere — a person who had the coronavirus in the Philippines and a person in Hong Kong, health officials said, bringing global deaths to at least 724.

In this Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, photo, a nurse takes notes in the isolation ward for 2019-nCoV patients at a hospital in Wuhan in central China's Hubei province.

Wuhan and Hubei Province, where the city is located, is at the center of the coronavirus outbreak. The virus has been detected in more than 20 other countries, including in the U.S.

Twelve people in the U.S. have been confirmed to have the virus, but some of them have been released from the hospital, including a Chicago couple that is now home.

Also Saturday, Japan's foreign ministry said on its website that a Japanese citizen in his 60s who had been hospitalized with severe pneumonia had died at a medical facility in Wuhan.

Japan’s foreign ministry said that according to the Chinese facility where the Japanese citizen was, he was "highly suspected" of having the novel coronavirus but because of the difficulty confirming that, the man’s death was being classified as "viral pneumonia."

Japan’s government said it sends its prayers to the victim and condolences to his family.

Ok so I like to play devils advocate. Just want to provide a tin foil hat conspiracy, for the sake of theory crafting.

Let's assume for a minute that China's claim of the US releasing this virus, and possibly the other two flus that are present in livestock, is true. Probably not. But anything is possible, since the US has done some fucky shit in the past.

Why would the US want to do this?

I can think of a few reasons. The first being that China's greatest strength is its workforce and population. Disable this and you really push china into a corner. I think it would be easy for any expert to simply look at chinas infrastructure and pinpoint their lacking healthcare system as a huge vulnerability.

If you want to destabilize China, you only have so many options. War is unthinkable. Escalating tensions into unfriendly territory is also a terrible option, given the political climate in the US.

But imagine Trump, pondering what he can do about the China problem, or perhaps even what he can do to revive the industrial complex in the US, is presented with some ideas. Some ballsy fucker trying to suck up to trump suggests that we can release a bioweapon, and no one will be able to trace it back to the US. Of course such a virus cannot be too fatal for western healthcare to treat it, but what if it was contagious enough that it had the ability to completely cripple a lesser nation? While also targeting a specific genetic trait found only in asians.

Beyond China, you also may gain an opening to cripple North Korea as well. Since daddy china cant afford to provide aid or trade. Even better, what if the virus drifts into North Korea and destabilizes it?

Now, there are some reasons why this is a stupid theory. The first being that unleashing a bioweapon is fucking insane and dangerous beyond belief. Second is that you are dealing with nuclear nations. If destabilized, who the fuck knows who will get their hands on those nukes. Then theres the economic toll that the damage to China will bring, worldwide.

Just my 2cents, but I love to theorize.
Trump seems more like a stab-'em-in-the-front kinda guy.
What's more plausible, alphabets playing shadow games or the Chinese biolab being made-in-china quality?
Don't get me wrong, I bet all the intelligence agencies are having a party at the moment while the Chinese regime is distracted, but I don't think they're behind it.

what is it with third world countries and wanting to kill endangered animals? these are the same people who kill rhinos just so they can turn the horn into a pill and help them get erect, stupidest fucking people on the planet

Lack of education, misinformation spread by political tools and a general distrust for the scientific method are a powerful combination that leads invariably to terrible results.

I've seen similar systems spraying water to combat heatstroke in arid areas during particularly bad summers. They can also spray water and othrr aerosols for farming.

The system itself just creates an aerosol myst so really its function depends entirely on what you load it with. And since I can't tell what that is I ain't got no clue. Best guess if what other comments said is true and they've been used to fight smog Wuhan currently has a lotta that so it might just be smog clearing and unrelatdd to the virus. If they mean to fight the virus with that, well, it's not gonna work.

😔 Damn the beginning of this video is very hard to watch when you can speculate about what probably happened to him...

The Derp State is pretty much in bed with China due to globalism. Dianne Feinstein has employed known Chinese spies as high-ranking Congressional interns for decades without facing any scrutiny.
