They're technically right to be bashing it, but I bet they don't understand the reason for all this lockdown and "flatten the curve" stuff. Herd immunity by exposure to an ongoing infection doesn't work; all you do is guarantee that the disease becomes endemic in the population, with periodic epidemics as unexposed populations grow over time. That doesn't matter though, because "herd immunity" isn't actually the goal. It's just better slogan than "slowing the infection rate to a level that prevents the health services being overwhelmed before we get an effective long-term treatment solution".
