you have to hold it over the head of lefties that they brunt down cities over this shit, and not let them forget it.
They. don't. care.
They refuse. These people operate on rhetoric and emotion. They truly believe that wanton destruction, irreversible damage to the ozone layer and environment they lie they care about so much... it's all worth it because it's about justice for Floyd.
You will not change them with dialectics and logic. You will not convince them with truth. You must beat them at their own game and use emotional responses and rhetoric.
Lefties are champions of this, and it's why when one "oppressed" group trumps over the former champ of the oppression olympics, normal people look up in ridiculous disbelief while the leftists nod and yield to the new "oppressed" kings. "They suffer the most; can't you see? How can you be so insensitive? They just told you how sad and bad they feel and you bring up this cold heartless drivel?"
Why do you think their replies to the cities being turned into New Somalia is a complete emotional copout like "Buildings can be replaced. Lives can't."?
There is no logic there; no reasoning... just pure emotion. They don't want to consider your logic because to them emotions beat all.
Edit: Fuck it, you want to get through to them on this one topic (city destruction)? Here's your best chance (and even this is very slim, as they'll be hellbent on their collected agreement that they're on the *snorts* right side of history).
Show them a video of a woman crying over her business in shambles or family member lying dead.
Don't: "What do you think this is going to cost to repair? Look around; it's chaos. Where are these people going to buy supplies and basic needs?"
Do: Repeat at them constantly: "Look at her! Look at her! She's crying. You did that! She's fucking crying. She's lost everything and it's because of you! How could you? She's crying! Can't you see what she's going through? Answer me! She's crying and in pain!"
The former is forcing them to think rationally, to abandon their emotions in which they base their ideals and beliefs around. They will almost instantaneously reject your argument on the basis of directly attacking their beliefs.
The latter confronts them like they confront others. Appeals to emotion. You have made someone sad, and that is bad. You hate doing that. You stand against that. Why are you making them sad? Confronted with an emotion that trumps their own current selfish emotion, the ones not far gone will begin to understand that this is not the right way to do things. You are beating them at their own game of rhetoric with their own tool of emotional manipulation under the warped guise of humanitarianism.
