Harley Quinn - DC Universe Series - Verdict s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ I̶N̶. out again.

Were they just not expecting people to like Kiteman/Ivy, or even Kiteman in general? Because this comes off as extremely tone deaf to ditch the fan-favorite relationship for a clearly toxic one.
I wonder if that’s the case, themat the creators didn’t think Kiteman/Ivy would be so popular. They severely miscalculated with that “Snyder Cut” bit, after all.

It also doesn’t help that it was an unpopular pairing for a while. I remember the early days of it and people were complaining about it not being Harley x Ivy and how Kite Man was beneath her, comics Ivy would have killed him, etc..

They spent the better part of at least half the show so far giving Kiteman/Ivy a slow build. If the ultimate takeaway from this is, "lul, Kiteman is a fucking white male. He doesn't deserve anything." Then I'm done with this show, and I honestly don't see myself giving a shit about DC in general moving forward. (They haven't exactly been producing gems lately, "Joker" aside, and I bet they find some way to ruin that too.)

Jared Leto didn't play The Joker, he played a gross creepy weirdo with the word "Damaged" tattooed on his forehead so you'd know he's all messed up.
My personal headcanon is that when The Joker went to Arkham one of his more idiotic henchmen decided to try and take his place, even going so far as to steal his name, his schtick, and his batshit girlfriend. Too bad he was a tryhard edgelord faggot that nobody liked.
Why do we never see him again after Suicide Squad? Because the real Joker got out of Arkham and killed the impostor in a manner both ironic and gruesome.

Just adding to the reasoning, personally I hate this decision. Harley is terrible and is only now cleaning up her act.

Also you are justified in leaving DC. I kinda stopped caring outside this and Joker as they just make same-feeling products like the over bloated Marvel movies. Just give me Lego DC Super Villains 2 or a new RockSteady game, then I will care again.

It was a fantastic LEGO title that went surprisingly overlooked. Most just seemed to complain about things, but the game was honestly one of the best LEGO has ever put out and stands as a shining title on my Switch.

Some complained that the character roster was bad, but I feel it was more streamlined. LEGO Batman 3 had such a strange roster, so I am glad DC Super Villains just took the essentials and made a solid, all be it, more generic roster. The music and graffiti style also add a ton of character that many said does not exist in this game. I feel like this being a DC LEGO title killed it. The title was a shining example of Tt games work at the time it came out, but since it was not Star Wars, many saw it as another bland entry like the Marvel titles or Incredibles.

And it had an awesome voice cast, Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill (SQUEE!!!!!!!), Gilbert Gottfried, Michael Ironside, Jefferey Combs, John Barrowman, Grey Griffin, Clancy Brown, Zach Callison, Cree Summer...............Tara Strong, there!, I just triggered the Kiwis with that very name!

I thought most saw her as a good voice actress, just a lolcow in real life. I know Kiwis do not like her Harley Quinn voice, which I can agree with as it is far to try hard and squeaky. The Brooklyn accent is so fake and annoying on her, wish she just stocked to Raven and Batgirl, leave Harley to the Big Bang Theory girls.

Laura Bailey was a much better Harley.

Hynden Walch is a better choice as well. She at least knows when to lower her fucking voice.
I've only heard her as Harley in the Assault On Arkham movie but shes not bad (Love her as Starfire though!). The biggest surprise for me of the HQ series is in fact Kaley Cuoco herself. Arleen Sorkin will always be the definitive Harley (yeah I admit, Tara ain't perfect as Harley but I can still like it, she comes off as a fun interpretation of the character), but given this is the same woman who spent a decade as a one note "girls like nerd stuff!?!" character in TBBT and given how successful that show was I was under the impression she'd phone it in. I was suprised..........Poison Ivy however I really like in the series

It seems they are going down the Harley/Ivy route
Apparently Harley and Ivy will make out to get her out of mind control
Just watched the episode and the true loves kiss is a bait and switch where Psycho gets aroused by the girl on girl action and loses focus, also Si returns as a max headroom style character

I honestly can’t tell what direction they’re going with the relationship. All the stuff being praised as Harley/Ivy advancement always ends up being a funny bait and switch.

I think there are a couple of reasons it's not working. That's one of them. Kiteman is just a really great guy and is obviously good for Ivy. Harley is a terrible person and has treated Ivy terribly for ages. The notion of one dramatic moment wiping away daily habitual mistreatment is... anyway. It makes me think less of Ivy for cheating on him and I really like Ivy. But it actually makes me dislike Harley who got Ivy drunk and put the moves on her knowing that she was jeopardizing Ivy's relationship with possibly the first person who had ever treated her right. That right there in itself is a sign to Ivy that Harley is not someone who has her best interests at heart.

I think I have an additional reason, though. It's the cartoon medium and the fact that the show is so very metatextual. Both these things work against what would otherwise be fairly normal TV relation-drama. A plot like this in many TV shows would just be the usual *gasps in Spanish* stuff. But this show is so big on self-awareness and parody that you can't pull that off without people questioning it. Basically the show is not superficial enough for people to shrug and enjoy it as soap-opera relationship twists.

I really enjoyed this episode, btw. It's funny and it's pretty neat how Harley's kiss worked not because of "True Love" but because Dr. Psycho got too horny watching them make out to maintain his concentration. It's a nice twist in itself but it's even better because this is completely believable for Dr. Psycho.

I also got a good laugh at Wonder Woman rolling her eyes at Superman lecturing her on racism. This show does throw jabs in a lot of directions and I appreciate that. Also, King Shark's little brother. :_(

Just adding to the reasoning, personally I hate this decision. Harley is terrible and is only now cleaning up her act.

Pretty much this. If the Season 3 arc is Harley learning to deal with rejection and accept someone else's decision I'll be good with that. Tumblerina's will riot though. (And by riot, I mean post angry messages).

I think ending the show now would be okay, I rather have a solid finale, than a million seaaons and then it fizzling out. After all, Harley seems to be getting her shit together and once her relationship with Ivy gets resolved, then its a solid ending to her character arc.
Maybe do other shows on that universe.

When they originally picked up the show, they got 26 episodes which they chose to spread over 2 13-episode seasons. As of 2 weeks ago there's no season 3, so hopefully they can close out the show in a satisfying way. They should be able to, since the writers knew all along exactly how much show they had to work with, and they haven't completely lost their minds (so far).
