This was also threatened as a penalty during our earliest stay home/safe orders back in March and April, but it was largely unenforced by local law enforcement because they didn't want their officers to pick up COVID-19 from nonessential workers out in public when they weren't supposed to be. In some cases, departments even decided routine traffic stops -- mainly for lesser civil infractions -- would also be put on the back burner for similar reasons.
@Cast Iron Pan already posted an article about Michigan's coming orders as of Monday (13-Jul), but here is an article from the Detroit Free Press about it:
The order requires businesses to refuse entry to those who won't wear a mask and expands the order to crowded outdoor spaces.

Archive #1: Michigan Mask Orders)
Masks will be required in many public settings, violation is a misdemeanor with $500 fine and no jail time, and enforcement is supposedly left to local police even though many have reiterated the fact they lack the time and resources. Alternatively, complaints can be sent to Attorney General's office (individuals in violation) or MIOSHA (for businesses) as appropriate. However, this might not last long. During the stay home/safe orders, the AG's office started telling people not to complain because they received too many complaints.
I'd also love to see how state leadership can talk about using a misdemeanor as a way to encourage compliance when it also turns a blind eye to protestors who have been ignoring existing recommendations for social distancing and mask wearing.
An interesting part is that the King of Jordan is donating masks to Michigan.
TFW something that should be seen as a kind gesture (Jordan's king donating masks) is questioned for potential ulterior motives.
YES, absolutely. This way of living is totally anathema to most humans. Introverts, you may be fine, but the extroverts we all rely on to, you know, run society and deal with groups of more than one or two people are suffering greatly.
Not to mention some introverts still need some degree of regular interaction with people outside their household. Being pent up takes a toll on people whether obvious or imperceptible to them.
Michigan to require all medical professionals to undergo implicit bias training
I might have posted about this in the protest thread, but this now required for both new licensees and those that renew existing licenses when they come up for their next renewal. I've already heard that retirees who previously maintained their license so they could still serve as volunteers in their profession have already decided this requirement is such that they'd rather let their license expire and end their volunteer work than be forced to take part in a training session that may be be making the initial premise that all health care workers have an existing bias against minorities.
TL;DR - To address perceived bias, training that assumes everyone is biased seems to be the the cure-all solution of choice.
In other Michigan COVID-19 news:
The city of Detroit has apparently doubled down on Sanctuary city policies with news of a $750k grant to provide stimulus type funds to
illegal aliens undocumented immigrants. The money will not be given out by the city itself, but by a handful of local nonprofits.
Bonus fact: the grant money came from the Open Society Foundations, who the Free Press shamelessly reports as being founded by George Soros.

Archive #2: Illegals to get SorosBux)
Edit to add: This is particularly frustrating. As part of my job, I've seen individual and business clients have their jobs put on hold and their businesses closed -- some for almost three straight months -- and be ineligible for any sort of financial assistance, which put them in true economic hardship as they tried to figure out what to do and how to pay their bills with limited or no income. Meanwhile, the City of Detroit accepts grant money so that illegals can visit one of the listed nonprofit agencies to get stimulus money just for them that was bankrolled by Soros. Why not help the legal residents who need the assistance to help pay bills and keep their businesses viable -- especially in a city where both businesses and decent paying jobs were already scarce before COVID-19 hit?
