I'm no Dr.Spock, but disowning your mentally ill daughter to an audience that have seen feces get scooped out of her by a clinical obese alcoholic is a pretty good way to sabotage future attempts at reconciliation. This is so fucking surreal to me right now.
Well goddamn it is the real dad. That makes this all even more fucked.
Part of me thinks that this started out as a way of "meeting Faith where she's at". But it's gone so much further than that now, this serves no one and only drags them all deeper into the abyss.
It's completely sensible for him not to go to KF or streams. It's still retarded that he's trying to explain himself to rando's to discuss his daughter's parenting and that he feels the need to screencap a picture from the forum.
This is a tiny man who likes the attention too much. Your family is falling apart, and you put energy into That? Who could have thought that his daughter would become a drama-attentionwhore, too?
I mean, I like it, I'm rapidly running out of popcorn. But his priorities are whack.
IDK. There's a few things going on here. You have justified sadness/anger for starters which we can be dispassionate about, but I'm sure he can't. You have the possibility he needs to clear the rest of his family's name regarding the rape and beating stuff. You have the possibility he is trying to meet her where she is on social media. You have the possibility he is trying to cut off the next Methboy or Ralph in line by putting the truth out there thereby making her hit rock bottom and come home before even more damage is done to her mind and body. You have the possibility he is trying to own her epic style like you see memes of parents doing to their kids who act up on social media resulting in improved behavior because of less peer support for poor behavior. There could be a lot going on.
Besides, I doubt she's permanently disowned. If she showed up back at home, I'm sure they'd take her in and help her to get treatment. At some point you do have to tell the spoiled kid that they're on their own because frankly giving them support will only enable them to be self-destructive. Come home and live by their rules, and I'm sure she will be supported. Beyond that, keep in mind that he was radio silent until their 10 day intervention proved unsuccessful.
It's not how I think I would react, but I've never been in a similar situation, and we don't really know what the situation is family wise.
YOU MUST CUT OFF THE INFECTED BRANCH TO SAVE THE TREE. BEGONE DAUGHTER, OUR FAMILY LEGACY IS AT STAKE!
Yes. He does have 3 other kids to worry about, and she is an adult.
If this were my child I would be fucking mental right now, but it would be handled as a family and not on Twitter. I understand that grief makes us do crazy things, but the further it goes the crazier it gets.
edit: well we see where Faith gets her manipulative behaviors from:

God forbid we spare a young child adult drama when we can wield it like a cudgel and harden their little heart!
I seriously doubt he will word it to his 6 year old like that.
If he has kids they will end up with DCF at his shack repeatedly. You thought Onison was a bad parent? Ralph would give the Onion a run for his money 100%
Hopefully the Vickers family will be able to get a court to give them the kids or something.
well for one, I dont see my daughter ever being in this situation because I am raising her well enough to not have daddy issues to begin with or be this fucked up of a person at 18.
second, I wouldnt let her leave if somehow I was in this Guy’s positionS . She could hate me briefly for a time, thats fine but she will thank me when shes older. She has a future to worry about. I plan on instilling the idea of pursing those goals to the fullest with hobbies and sports in between.
i think with Vickers, as much as it seems he does love his Daughter and want whats best for her. He had to have made big mistakes to push her into the Gunts arms and be such a manipulative person overall.
Sometimes kids just turn out bad or have a bad phase. It could be anything from genetics down to a friend or teacher's influence, or uncontrollable random event. Some people suck, and 3/4 isn't really bad when it comes to that. I mean how many families have that addict somewhere in there (most).
I don't disagree that other factors apply, but allowing your kids to be unmonitored, especially on today's internet, is a horrible idea. I've seen that first hand through family. People are being exposed to porn at 5 years old at this point if parents aren't vigilant, and that's on them. By the time Faith was born, especially since he's online savvy, he would've known he needed to be more involved.
I don't claim to know their lives, but I do think there's more to it than "I was a good dad, she's a bad daughter"
We will understand this, but lots of boomers understandably had a hard time grasping that. I mean your kids is gonna find a way around the parental block eventually, and you can't literally watch over your 15+ yr old kid's shoulder 24/7 IRL or online. That's a recipe for disaster all its own beyond being crippling to the development of skills with a computer or mandatory computer usage for school.
Wasnt she molested or is that just rumors? if she was then that explains pretty much all the manipulation of males in her life.
Probably a rumor she actually spread for attention and sympathy. So far, at least 2 rape claims she has made have been proven false, and the claims about having been beaten and mentally abused by her parents in any non-trivial, abnormal to any "good" family situation way look extremely unlikely given their obvious care and resource expense at trying to help her
