iirc very early on when trolls were making futanari sonichus and he was screaming at them because he wasn't gay he said something like "if i ever go that way i might as well go through gender reassignment". It is quite possible he already had that seed in his catalog of fantasy fetishes but i think it was really the internet , the porn and and the trolls that helped jumble his brain and confuse him enough sexually to bring that out full force as well with all the obscenities he kept to himself before getting internet attention.

Its hard to tell, he did troon out in 2015 when it was starting to become a media fad, he may have thought it was another phenomenon like Sonic or Pokemon was in the 90s and he just had to be part of it, he didn't need the internet to find those either. The part i can't get over is him being actually prescribed with hormones, one would assume medical professionals would screen psychotic autists with delusions about cartoons being real and not indulge them on their whims, apparently that is not the case. It is quite concerning.

I think it was just a matter of:

*Chris not being very successful at being a man. (In the traditional way.)

*Chris always feeling closer to women. (Again, since in his old fashioned naive view, women are kind, sweet and gentle.)

*Chris thinking life is easier if he was a lesbian. More women to choose from! Don’t have to compete with other men. (Chris likes the path of least resistance.)

*Trolling and especially excessive porn consumption might have played a role.

And along comes the media in 2014-2015, and he starts to pick up on all these trans-stories. And here we are.

I don't think that informed consent model is a thing in this side of the continent, definitely not where i live, the protocol i think is one or two years minimum psych therapy and social reassignment before allowing for chemical reassignment. Because if he was still living with his parents he would probably still be socially isolated, banned from every store in town, and have a few arrests under his belt even without the Internet interfering with his life. His parents did a lousy job raising him and even before the trolling started and Chris started broadcasting his life on the Internet for all to see, his life was still a trainwreck without outside interference. He was way too dependent on his parents for financial and social support and it hurt him in the long run. The best possible outcome for Chris would have been if he had left 14 Branchland court at age 18 and never looked back. Look at his half-brother Cole who said sayonara to Barb and Bob at the first opportunity he got. Yes Cole is an arrogant douche and a minor lowcow in his own right but he is married, has a job, and hobbies, he has some kind of independent life and some stability. If Chris had left Barb and Bob in early adulthood he could have developed independent living and social skills, gotten a job of some kind, and been able to carve out some kind of life for himself instead of depending on his elderly parents. I'm not saying Chris would have thrived or even succeeded but his odds for a better life or future would have gone up significantly based on how far away he got from 14 Branchland court.

Hard to say as I agree that if he was still broadcasting his life on the internet he would never change. Bob and Barb probably still have going down the same path of dimensional merge.

I don't know what shocks me the most. That Chris managed to somehow clobber a deck built around an archetype that is infamous for being clunky and getting alot of dead hands, the fact that he somehow managed to win an (admitetly small) tourney, or that Chris used to play one of my favorite Archetypes back in the day.
Chris is probably the type of player who thinks playing with a 60 card deck is good because it has more cards than a 40 deck one.

I do find it interesting that most of my trans friends at one point in their life tried to over adjust for their birth gender shortly before coming to terms with their gender identity. For example a period of hyper femininity a few months before coming out. It could be very easy to confuse Chris’ weird ego driven gender norms and ideas of masculinity with dysphoria based on an assessment.

Here’s where I disagree on Chris anyway. He always had trouble doing masculine things in general. It came off as forced and rather awkward. He always has liked cutesy things and crafts more than he even does his own comics. I’m not saying it makes sense to us - Chris’ mind is alien in a lot of ways to the average person, hell even the average trans person. I’m saying Chris does shit that nobody would do without having actual dysphoria. Is it the same as the Troons? Debatable. ADF for example threw his hormones down a storm drain. A lot of Troons do not even try to pass at all, Chris I feel genuinely is and tried to cover up Masculine features with accessories but his mind is too addled to understand how proper fashions work outside cartoons.

But the flip where I could see your point is that him slicing his taint open was over a bunch of TERFs mocking him on the internet while he was drunk for not being a real woman with a vagina. Even still, that’s pretty fucking extreme measures to go through with and if I had chosen the path of Psychiatry would probably be enough to convince me he had legit dysphoria.

I cannot speak for their experiences because I am not trans. I have a few friends who are and generally speaking the males try their hardest to be more masculine right before surrendering to feminine habits after a long period of being shy or flamboyant, whereas with the FTM ones it’s after being a dyke for a few years and your femme gf dumps you for an actual guy. I don’t know a lot of trans people but these are the observations I’ve made.
