Also, if y'all don't have Ian's Chassepot to FAMAS, it's well worth the investment.

The book is top notch, easily on par or exceeding the most hallowed Luger & Garand tomes in terms of content & readability, even for non-Francophiles & Lebel collectors (same difference). To be quite honest, I haven't seen anything new like it in a very long time.... Almost the kind of book you buy a bookshelf, just to put it on.

Damn I regret not getting it at release then. I really have no interest in French firearms, but the cover design looks fucking awesome.

I'm really looking forward to the one on Russian automatic rifles that Ian is publishing for that Russian author. Which also has an awesome cover and has a more interesting subject in my opinion.

If you can afford it, try to get one of the signed, limited editions; which also come with neat extras like the cocktail recipe card & presentation box. In any case, they'll never depreciate.

And if Ian is Gun Jesus, Max Popenker is like something like the Gun Holy Ghost; rarely seen, but his presence is everywhere in the collecting/gun sperg community.

I think that's kind of a big reaction man. If your seriously worried about somebody breaking in it at least makes sense to have a couple guns stashed around so that if somebody breaks down your door you can get to a gun before they get to you. Obviously doing shit like the old arfcom bit of vacumsealing a "shower gun" is over the top, but there's a big spectrim between that and only having one gun on your bedside table. Besides, nutn is a dipshit - Paul Harrell is best crazy gun youtuber.

Paul Harrell shot and killed a man that he claimed tried to drive his vehicle through his camp site. He got charged with Murder and acquitted in 2007.

If you watch a bunch of his videos you'll notice he mentions a lot of times he almost got in a shoot out or was shot at. What the fuck is going on in Oregon?

Well, he was in the Marines too, so.

While I don't recall him ever talking about his experiences, other than obliquely or in direct relation to training/techniques.

"I spent twenty years in the military. In my initial enlistment, I was in the active duty Marine Corp for 4 years. I had an infantry MOS I was an 0311, but I spent a couple of years as a combat marksmanship instructor in the Marine Corp Security Forces School. So as such, I had to have training and education beyond what normal Marines were getting at that time.
So in addition to basic training, infantry school, and so on, I also went to a couple of citizen schools, such as the Ray Chapman Academy of Practical Shooting and a course at Gunsite. I also went to the Navy’s CRF school (that’s a S.W.A.T. school) and I got sent to a Marine Corp school called “the Formal Schools Instructor Course,” where you learn to create class outlines, and select tasks for training, and create a curriculum — and teach classes…
Anyway, when I got out of the Marine Corp I went into the reserve component of the military, specifically the Oregon Army National Guard…"

I do remember some implications or anecdotes from other Marines I've known, that he did some chadly shit with Recon (or at least trained with them), but nothing he's ever copped to or outright denied.

That, and having met a few of those weirdos over the years, makes me lean towards there being a grain of truth in it, and they all seemed to share the same mannerisms that Harrell has. But then again, I've known a lot of senior/retired drill sergeants like that too; they've seen some shit which will warp a guy.

That's his hook to keep normies interested. "Ohmagerd he got shot at a time or two, his word is expert!".

Though on the flip side, if you're not in a profession with a firearm, getting shot at likely won't happen to you in your every day unless you live in a blue city or the Middle East. It's still disingenuous of him imo though.

Karl is still upset over a gimmick gun and the company not bowing down to his firearm design expertise.

So much so that he's started to highlight the people who disagree with him over on Facebook. He has got one of the most fragile egos I have ever seen.
Ah yes got to focus on those 22wmr comments, cause if not he might have to acknowledge that 90% of the comments on that post were all tearing into him.

Karl really is shit at YouTube isn't he?. If he'd had the wit for it changed his tone a little bit, he could have spun that into an opportunity to generate some engagement. He could have invited responses, then maybe done some videos about the cartridge itself. Like on so many other occasions he had the makings of some good content, but his narcissism got the better of him.

I still feel some good will towards the guy, because some of his History videos had unique concepts, let down by his wooden delivery and shit production. eg his videos on POW camps in the US, or the raid on Columbus New Mexico. I just wish he'd sort his fucking life out.

Even though his history videos are shit in terms of delivery & production, they're still endearing in a retro home-video/school film project sort of way.

They remind me a lot of what my friends & I did in highschool when we got our hands on a VHS camcorder and DAT from the A/V club.

Yeah I really do wanna like the guy and his channel because I used to like it. When he isn't sperging with his shit takes on politics and sperging about who cares gimmick guns/gun channel drama his content is usually good. The whole reason I started watching Inrange was because I really enjoyed the 2 gun and other gun competition stuff and Karl is actually quite good at shooting competitions. But oh well he can act like pompous know it all sperg all he wants and lose viewers.

So yeah. Ollam. Not a fan. And fuck Karl for hanging around his sweaty ass and still having the gall to judge others on their politics and the company they keep.
I enjoy most of Ollam's presentations on physical security, but he's a shitty person.
Nutn says some dumbass stuff but he’s got a hard limit to his craziness and isn’t afraid to call out stupid fantasies people have about firearms. He’s a useful datapoint when it comes to in-depth reviews
Years ago Nutn advocated for carrying a 2lb big fuckoff knife for processing firewood. I couldn't take him seriously after he said batoning wood is better than an axe.

I remember that one, and the first thing I thought was it must be nice being able to afford abusing a good knife like that, along with the number of cheap knives broken & injuries inflicted on copycat viewers.

In fairness to Karl, in a video last year he was initially mildly supportive of the idea behind the S333. I think he was disappointed that after actually buying the thing it was such a letdown.

He did actually do the work to diagnose the fault, but then just wasted the opportunity by being a complete dick to pretty much everyone.

In the area of core Ian/Karl sperging, it's interesting to note that Ian did a video at the same match where Karl was noting the S333's performance, for his own channel.

He also calls the Curve garbage, which it is, but he notes rightly that he's firing it in un-broken-in, un-reoiled condition, fresh from the box, so that can have an impact.

Of course he also notes that that is exactly what most people would do with a Curve, using it for the very first time in a defensive shooting which is also bad. The video is also worth it for the last stage.
