As far as I know Roz is as much of a horrible person as Dave, it's just that he's a far better artist.

The Cliff "series" (it's only two comics lol) is pretty terrible. I love how the female character throws herself at Cliff for absolutely no reason and is depicted as a hero for it, even though any normal person would have called the police.

Any specifics on Roz? I'm just curious.

I don't know much about Roz other than she's buds with Dave, seems to also enjoy drawing rape, is a better artist and writer and I'm pretty sure she's a woman. That's weird eh? a woman who's buds with Dave. It's almost as weird as Dave having a wife.

I like the part when Cliff murders the woman for sleeping with her abusive husband while he "Slept on the jungle floors".

I couldn't care less if she enjoys drawing rape. People got their kinks, and so long as it stays firmly in the realm of fantasy, what somebody's into isn't any of my business. What makes Dave's depictions of rape so unsettling is that he keeps making his rapists sympathetic, moreso than the victims, and he passes this off not as fap fodder but as something DEEP and MEANINGFUL. His inability to write women as anything more than potential rape targets betrays that it's probably (read: definitely) more than just a kink for him. That, and I believe the Love Line call revealed that he likes to do rape play with Katie, who is not entirely comfortable by it; disturbed by it, even. If she were totally on board, again, there wouldn't be a problem. But Dave is not the kind of guy I would trust to keep his creepy urges firmly in check.

Also his remaining fanbase seems to consist of people who would probably rape actual people if they thought they could get away with it.

And yeah, that part you mentioned seemed to be just an excuse for Dave to brutalize a woman. Typical.

Even in 2001, Katie's artwork is leaps and bounds better than Dave's. She has a sweet face. Dave just looks like some kind of lizard man wearing a people mask.

I think Katie is frequently on lettering duty for Jack, and Dave is quick to blame her for the comic updates being delayed.

The only thing about Roz that I find disturbing is that she's friends with Dave. She's also never said this about her evil rapist character.

I know that when he was young his mother left him and his father because she didn't feel she spent enough of her youth partying or something. He says she abused him but I don't think he's ever specified what she did to him other than be a shitty mother and leave.

I've heard about that forum incident from Kate. Unfortunately seeing as the old forum got baleeted I don't think there's any evidence to corroborate it.

As for Drip's redemption, in a comic where the central conflict is supposed to be the redemption of a genocidal dictator, I'm pretty sure Drip could be redeemed, in the hands of a much better writer. As a stand alone character, however, Drip is just a trainwreck. There is no way to redeem a character whose sole personality trait is "rapist."

Figured Dave couldn't come up with anything like that on his own. Jesus, he shoehorns Nine Inch Nails into a lot of his work. As much as I like Nine Inch Nails, Reznor's lyrics aren't exactly ones I would quote if I wanted my comic to be taken seriously.

Reznor writes some fucking amazing melodies but his lyrics are like something from the back cover of a high school junior's math notebook. I suppose that's actually kind of fitting, since Jack also reads like it was written by that same high school junior.

I heard about that from Kate too! I really wish there was evidence of it. While Dave's fans come off as scummy enough that such an incident is well within the realm of possibility, it's always nice to have irrefutable proof.

While they made some fantastic points and were probably the best source for Hopkins info, they did succumb to the tumblr virus in the end. There was a time when they accepted riffs using the word "retard." Toward the end of their life they stopped accepting "offensive riffs" that "punch down" at people with disabilities. One of their more recent riffs included such memorable lines as "the not-all-men-osaurus" and "Dave thinks misandery is real." When called out on their bullshit Kate only retreated deeper into their hugbox.

In a way I'm kind of glad Dave shut them down before they could go full retard. The last riff they posted was filled with nothing but unfunny random access humor. Unfortunately we also lost all of their classic riffs. Megan's Dumb Part 1 & 2 will always hold a special place in my heart.

I'm sure he probably thought she'd be honored to be drawn as a cartoon dog being forced to give another animal a handjob at gunpoint. If I had to guess, I'd say she probably reacted like how the creator of Silverblue did, but there may be no way to know for sure.
