Kevin's experience with money is getting an allowance from his family who he's not in touch with, and resents. It's not surprising that he would want the government that he's not in touch with (you think this guy votes? Or pays attention to local ordinances and meetings?) and resents (government bad! acab!) to hand out BreadnRoses™ stipends to everyone. Then we could all afford Dragonite plushies, and that's what America needs right now.FULLY AUTOMATED LUXURY GAY SPACE COMMUNISM
People who depend on their families, while resenting their families, tend to have the dependence deepen the resentment. Kevin and the Tranchers want so desperately to be self-sufficient, the fact that they aren't really irks them. I think it's what truly motivates all the capitalism sperging. Deep down, they know they're consoomers who can't hack it on their own, and they hate that.
Also it's a silver lining that working on a ranch makes high-heels, makeup and cosplay dresses completely impractical. Bonnie is just a fat man in overalls instead of a fat man in a maid costume and knee socks.
