Lucas is manipulative enough that if his parents did send money to cover the motel/food, he'd pocket the money since he's already getting other people to pay for it. He'd still be switching to the "they're not helping me" since it's worked to get the room and food payed. But yes he is a liar.

I came back after a week of not keeping up and see he got catfished out to skid row. He got more paid for food during the bus trip. He landed in Spokane, some guy by the name of Nathan Haskins paid for his stay at motel 6 and KFC. He begged for someone to pay another night at Motel 6 and food, Looks like he's getting that too. All in all, it's turned out to be a "rewarding" experience for the Pedo Freak.
