As we've discussed, the military would support a Republican government if the left starts an uprising. Even if right wingers are stupid enough to rebel, given that most air bases are located in red areas, whatever happens, the Republicans get air supremacy in this hypothetical civil war.

I doubt that most sailors or ship owners are willingly going to sail into a port without any air defences when the enemies of the people in that port have got air supremacy and are bombing anything that moves, and I also doubt that any of the areas that would definitely support a left-wing rebellion can feed themselves.

This couldn't be more accurate. But i would change AOC for Dolores Ibarruri, probably one of the most infamous yet lauded female politicians in Spain. A woman born from conservative miners who joined the communist party and whose children died in Stalingrad, being the woman that said the infamous "There are two Spains, and for one to live the other must die". But otherwise, it's dead on. And it kinda scares me because if things keep going on a real coup will happen. Because i kinda think that the generals in the army will, at some point, reach the conclusion that they owe loyalty to their country rather than to their prez or some political party. If the US goes again to some bullshit war abroad, you can expect that this will begin to get some traction.

For those who don't know, Alcalá Zamora was the last prez of the 2nd spanish republic. A man that stuck to his charge to the bitter end and the moment Franco won, he stepped down, something that made the last few people by his side brand him a traitor to his country. It's a terribly tragic man because he was put in place of a country in shambles, only to be betrayed by everyone around him for doing his job to the best of his capacity and sticking to his principles.

My brother went to visit the Vietnam Trenches a few years back, a really amazing experience for him because for 3 bux you can shoot an AK-47. They have a shooting range there with well maintained weapons from vietnam war. An interesting thing is that when his wife wanted to shoot the AK, they forbade her and told her that if she wanted to shoot, she could have an M-16. When they asked them why, they said that the AKs were weapons for soldiers and men, while the M-16 was a weapon for women who wanted to defend themselves as a last resort.

It is really telling that the weapon used by what was supposed to be the best military in the world was rejected by a bunch of dirty peasants, only to be taken as a cheap self defense method by destitute women. The US lost because they overestimated all those dirty rice farmers in a backwater country, much like Bob overestimates his countrymen when it comes to tactics, knowing the lay of the land and using terrain to their advantage. But we know that Bob just believes the US military will use drone strikes to butcher everyone non compliant, instead of doing what every sensible person would do: put people with guns in the streets to enforce compliance in order to keep public order. Because killing people left and right for non compliance is a good way to make everyone else revolt.
