This wouldn't be a problem if some VAs didn't talk way too damn slowly. Not having options for subtitles. Hearing's fine, just hate waiting for the voice actor to finish their lines.

This, but also when lategame stuff has a massive level spike and forces you to grind. Specifically for me, Calasmos in DQ11 and Red in the Johto pokemon games. Its even worse in these two examples because the level curve is usually gentle and you never really need to grindGrinding in RPGs that aren't retro.. I understand why Dragon Quest makes you grind, since you could finish it in less than an hour without it, but modern games have no excuse to require level grinding to progress. I'm alright with grinding just to get stronger of my own volition or for optional content to some extent, though, because there's a difference between doing it willingly and being forced against my will to grind levels to see more of the storyline. This is also why I don't enjoy most free-to-play games, since they rely on making you grind a ton or pay up.
You don't need to grind in DQ11, just spend 15-30 minutes with Metal Slimes. This, but also when lategame stuff has a massive level spike and forces you to grind. Isn't that still a grind, just in fast forward? You don't need to grind in DQ11, just spend 15-30 minutes with Metal Slimes.
if something goes quick it's not a grind.Isn't that still a grind, just in fast forward?
On the other side of that coin, tellme when and how to skip the cutscenes. Cod has some pretty uninteresting pre mission cutscenes that I'd love to skip after the first time viewing, but because they load the level in the background, you cant skip them immediately. It would be nice to know when the loading is done so I can skip, and if I'm pressing start/cancel/confirm/etc to skip.I would appreciate it if games told you what happens when you press start during a cutscene. Just a "You can press [start] during a cutscene to pause it" during a loading screen. It's probably very common now that the game pauses instead of skipping but having made the mistake too many times in the past makes me hesitant to try if I don't know for sure. There's a lot of talk about accessibility these days and I would like to know if I can access the bathroom.
Red in HG/SS is easily the most bullshit level spike in any Pokémon game. Let me explain:This, but also when lategame stuff has a massive level spike and forces you to grind. If you needed to grind for Calasmos for DQ11 that is a you problem, I beat him with the XP from lower level mobs turned off in one Try. Calasmos is a fucking pussy.Calasmos in DQ11

I garuantee the dev said to themself that it was balanced because she doesn't start at max HP.Look at this shit, somebody saw this, play tested this and said "Yep, that's good, ship it out."
I've seen horrible things from MUGEN characters. Some cunt made and released a character that was scripted to parry all incoming attacks and instantly counter attack with a 1 frame grapple. Saw another one where the creator "forgot" to give the character a hitbox but gave them ludicrously sized hurtboxes. In both instances, the creators thought it was fair. This is the type of thing you'd see from a MUGEN character.

I've never found it to be that frustrating, personally. If I'm getting pelted with Blue Shells, I probably have a large enough lead that a couple setbacks won't matter too much. That's just my experience though.I’m shocked, I don’t think anyone posted this yet.
