Times when you have felt genuinely sorry for Chris

What's wrong about barb? I read sonichu.com a little but I cannot piece together. Is she enabler or helicopter parent?
Barb is a smothering parent who has been emotionally manipulating, coddling, and controlling Chris his entire life, and she's never really let him face any challenges or be independent of her in any way. When he was mute for a while as a kid, she bribed him into talking by buying him toys and shit and basically just spoiling him rotten. She didn't hesitate to yank him out of the Greene County school system when they tried to suggest putting him in a special program, and bent over backwards to ensure that he would be mainstreamed throughout his education, with predictable results. Every time he was potentially facing consequences for something, like when he got permabanned from the Game Place or charged with a felony for hitting Michael Snyder with their car, she would step in and try to fix it for him, up to and including when she blew their entire inheritance from Bob on the Snyder case. (That said, the Snyder thing was about saving her ass as much as his, so it's debatable if she'd have gone to the extremes she did if her neck hadn't been on the block also.)

She's also threatened to harm or kill Chris several times, and treats him like a servant. Some time prior to the house fire, she forced him to move into a room closer to her so she could order him around more easily, and when he tried to refuse she threw a tantrum and trashed his room. The first time he ever tried to go to MAGFest years ago, she guilt-tripped him out of it by threatening to kick him out of the house, then switched gears to talking about how she was going to pack up and leave the house and how she wanted to die and so on until he gave in. She's threatened suicide on a few other occasions, so that seems to be a favorite tactic of hers. As she's aged, she's apparently started pulling a Sanford and Son and telling him that she might die of a heart attack at any time, to the point where he panics if he goes out somewhere and she doesn't answer the phone.

They also have a creepy pseudo-incestuous dynamic going on that implies some really awful things about how they both view their relationship. They've been observed to be very physically affectionate with each other; Marvin saw them at a court hearing and said that Chris was constantly rubbing Barb's shoulders and holding her hand. By itself that might not be such a concerning issue, but Chris has mentioned that he's had sexual dreams about Barb, and he also once mentioned that she was apparently jealous of him potentially loving one of his sweethearts more than he loved her. She made him spoon with her until he was at least 22 years old. Bob tried to get them to quit at one point, but Barb once again threatened to kill herself over it. This happened again after the house fire. Chris' bed had been destroyed in the fire and they didn't have the money for a new one, so he slept in her room and she made him spoon with her again until he got the money to buy his own bed.

Tl;dr, she's done everything in her power to ensure that he's mentally and emotionally dependent on her, and combined with his unchecked autism, this parenting style has produced the delusional, babbling manbaby we all know today.

He really didn't deserve to have Chris.
He deserved everything that came his way, because he was the prime reason Chris came into existence. First when he cheated on his wife with Barb, then when he decided to go through with it, after that when he refused to take seriously Chris and his condition, and then, when Chris unsurprisingly became the cow we know today, he couldn't even cut that thing down, like he promised he would. He enabled Barb's shit too and was ok with living in a pile of garbage. Dying around dirt, bedbugs and failure was the least he deserved.

This I did not know (or I did know and I forgot about it); I thought she was spooning with Chris after Bob's death. Did then 22-year Chris want to do it, or did Barb guilt trip and manipulate him to it? If anything Barb should be going to jail for abuse against her adult autistic child.

My guess is it probably didn't occur to him to question it until Bob flipped out. That was just what he did with his mom.

She didn't go to those extremes when he went to jail for the Gamestop macing. Rob Bell's involvement purely to cover her own ass.

I doubt there was any cheating going on, Bob and his first wife had been separated for a few years by the time Barb came into the picture.

I doubt that, since I clearly remember Null using Bob as a perfect argument against cheating. "He met this crazy bitch, left his wife, spawned the abomination known as Chris-chan and then died covered in bug bites" or something like that,

I'm going off of the paperwork on Bob's article on the CWCki and making a guess, I don't really see a hard source for any side of it. And Chris sure as hell isn't going to be a reliable source of info. What was nul's source?

Yeah, there's no evidence Bob was cheating with Barb. Bob's first family seemed to have basically grown up and moved on by that point in his life. Most of them had careers and families of their own. I dont think we have anything on his first wife. I had always assumed he had divorced or outlived the first Mrs. Chandler.

The resentment from them seemed to stem from Barb coming off as a golddigger. To wit, Cole opposed the match as well. I think neither family liked the other spouse and basically disowned them both.

On topic, the only time I felt sorry was Bob's death. Losing a parent sucks, and Chris was publically posting things that telegraphed the end was near. He might not have realized it, and was flailing helplessly. Everything else was karma for him or Borb.

Thanks for the summary. I need to barf now. Jesus that's just sick. And we have a lot of parents in Roachland, so I suppose I know where the problem is.

I wouldn't worry; taxidermy requires skill, which Chris doesn't want to learn. On the other hand, Chris is 'creative' when it comes to lego, so I guess anything is possible.
A distinct lack of skill, effort or even just basic eye-hand-coordination has never stopped him.

I hope he isn't gonna turn their house into hostel after Barb dies, if you know what I'm referencing.
"Barb's Motel" does have a nice ring to it. Just imagining a Psycho remake in 14 Branchland Court cracks me the fuck up. Though the twist ending isn't going to be as meaningful, after the Tomboy Saga.
