There is something deeply disturbed going on here. More than usual, I mean.
So Phil plays this game on a difficult level he can't handle because it is the default option.
Phil has claimed for years that he does this because it is 'the intended way to play the game'. This has been integral to his defense for why he refuses to try other difficulties at the behest of his fans (usually so he can have it easier and imply that it's not because that's how he personally wants it), and has actually led to him criticizing games like KH3, where he said the game was too easy on the default setting.
So now he is smashing his head against this brick wall for... what?
Is he retardedly digging in because he has to play it on the default setting in order to use this rule as a shield for past and present, so it is worth one playthrough of suffering in order to validate all that? Is this to show that he always totally would have played a hard game if they just made it hard by default? Is he doing this so he always has this to point to as justification for his rule 'I played G&G on the difficulty, so yes, I will play this game on Baby Mode because it was the default and I do that no matter what'?
He expressly said today that he doesn't understand how anyone can find this kind of difficulty fun, so it's not like he is enjoying the challenge. That means he's either being driven by spite for anyone who questioned his adherence to this rule, or with some plan to use this to justify an easy ride in the future but he's willing to subject his audience to garbage streams while still asking for $100 in order to fulfill his own hidden warped goals. A normal streamer would have laughed it off, pointed out that they weren't good enough for this to be entertaining, and lowered the difficulty. There is no justifiable reason for what he is doing that isn't pathetic and weird.
