On a semi-related note apparently an insider leaked some "Switch Pro" specifications, and it will do 4k when docked. I assume the dock will have it's own processor and graphics card to manage the upscaling. I wonder if the Arceus gameplay we saw was on current or next gen Switch hardware. If it was on the more powerful hardware that's even more worrying.

Coming up to 500 pages, I feel like the thread is very... cautious. Some are cautiously optimistic, some are just not getting their hopes up. It's a notable shift from the outright pessimism, but we'll have to wait to see if the mood improves or sours.

Remember how Battle Revolution on the Wii could connect to D/P wirelessly? Battle Revolution was the first "Stadium" game to do that, and the last "Stadium" game. You could also get monsters of the pocket from Revolution as prizes, like a Magmortar and whatever that evolution of Electabuzz is.

Also remember when wireless giveaways of rare pokeymens to D/P were a thing at places like GameStop or Toys "R" Us?

(wow I feel old now lol)
I remember the first giveaway I went to was to get a Shaymin for DPPT at Toys R Us.

It was kind of the same when Sword and Shield were first announced and look what happened there.

I'm in the cautiously optimistic camp for both games. At worst, the Diamond and Pearl remakes are just going to be a slightly upscaled, Chibi-fied copypaste of the original games, but we've already heard that some stuff from Platinum has seeped in, so hopefully we get the rest too.

Arceus Legends looks more likely to be a Sword and Shield 2.0, but we'll have to wait and see.

... fuck, i just realized. they're going to have the type-retconned fairy types in sinnoh, right?
they don't even need to gimp cynthia's team level-wise to nerf her if they don't exclude fairy types.

A massive portion of Sinnoh's areas had very prominent ice-types. Having people use fairy for dragons is actually arguably a buff, as they don't get 4x against Garchomp and are weak to lucario.

I'm really hoping the Exp Share has the option to be turned off.

I know it's a kids game but there really should be more ways to increase the difficulty in Pokemon games since they make them so easy, with the exception of the higher levels of the competitive practice grounds like the Battle Tower. 5th Gen had a hard mode that was greatly appreciated, and other than self imposed challenges like No Items, or Nuzlocke rules the games have become stupid easy.

With some of the Platinum stuff being in game, and this not being Game Freak, maybe we'll finally get another Battle Frontier. I know it's extremely :optimistic: to hope for that, but a man can dream right? I just want any kind of post game other than a generic Battle Tower.

Was it really like that? The worse that came from gen 7 was USUM and that was just DLC made into an entire game.

Sword and shield was the real slap in the face for long time fans recently.

true, but (edit: sorry about not knowing how this shit would work)

neither of her lucario, depending on which team version the remake uses, packs an actual steel-type move to smack around a fairy with. if you come packing your own togekiss, you have fairy/flying, which trivializes garchomp's eq and weakens its dragon rush and brick break, and her spiritomb is weak to fairy moves. roserade's sludge bomb will be a bitch, but if you pick chimchar as starter then you already have your check against roserade in infernape. I might be missing something (and hopefully the remake will account for this) but unless the lucario packs a steel move then it's a non-issue. in that regard.
now, if they go raw in the diamond and pearl stuff and don't have platinum's dex expansion and thus no togekiss to use, there's still huge power azumarill, which would be water/fairy, which would typing-wise be favorable in a matchup strictly against the garchomp, but is checked easily by roserade, but if you let that happen then your iq is below the sea level.

not saying it's going to make ice types useless, because i still prefer going in with ice punch weavile because i prefer that pokemon more, but it gives more tools than there were before to beat her ace with.

There has NEVER been a case where a Pokemon remake kept the movesets of major trainer's Pokemon anywhere near the same. I mean, even the extremely easy Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee gave Lance's Dragonite Iron Tail.

Even still, if lucario comes in with an iron type move, it'll end up outsped by both infernape and staraptor, two pretty common team picks that can exploit its steel typing with fire lulz and close combat. Even if lucario starts having steel moves, I'm not saying you can or really even should solo Cynthia with a single fairy type. I would say that if remake garchomp packs a steel move, it's not impossible to TM or egg move a fairy move onto a non-fairy pokemon. adding fairy type adds potentially very useful pokemon as well as a whole nother type you can use when TMing in coverage moves on non-fairy mons. not only can you do that with ice like in the past, you can do the same with fairy now too. It's just more shit to add into the toolkit against that fucking awful garchomp

Honestly I think I would be more excited if this situation was the other way around.

I've always wanted an open world pokemon game but I don't thrust Gamefreak with being able to pull it off, however I would thrust an external party.

My hope here is for GF's game to turn out like shit and the externally developed remake to overtake it in sales, I feel that would finally shake up management and cause the big N to consider outsourcing the license to companies that give a shit.
I think Pokemon should've always been developed by some others in the first place like Nintendo, Ape Inc/Creatures, Intelligent Systems, HAL, and or Monolith Soft. GameFreak always had issues with programming the games and having a few more developers would really make the games even better.

Ah, Deviant Crow. This video was pretty typical in terms of autism until he claimed Pokémon's society went under Socialism. :story:
My Brain is already too fried from lack of sleep to catch he said something that stupid. But now since you mentioned it, I rewatched the video. What the hell goes through the brains of these people? You know other then the deprived degeneracy that makes up the personality of people this stupid.

Which is precisely why I posted it here.

But seriously, socialism is all the rage, these days and this guy didn't watch the anime or play the games. For instance, he thought that an paralysis heal would actually cure paraplegia.

I assume he would also be the type that fall for the old sell a bridge scam. I wouldn't be surprised if you paint a fucking egg and tell him it's a pokemon egg, he think it's real one. :story:
