I mean, that is already an anachronism because the anime suggests poke balls existed at least four decades ago, in the Celebi movie. Both Oak and Drayden are meant to be in their 50s. At the latest, poke balls were normal sights at 15yrs.

You could also argue that he might have meant poke balls in their modern form, but the most likely answer is that TPC had no plans to make games in the past with poke bab all mechanics, and trying to understand the timeline of the games has always been more creative arts than real deduction.

Platinum is better. Hopefully they have at least some of its content, but it's the Pokemon Company.

That said, it's funny that people were pissed that ORAS changed too much, and now they're mad that the D/P remakes are changing too little. The Pokemon fanbase is really fucking autistic.
I liked ORAS with the exception of one thing, how they changed Mauville. I'm not talking about just the Game Corner either, I just didn't like the redesign of the city at all, it felt really odd. Otherwise they were perfectly good remakes with nice QoL changes.

simple "rock/paper/scissors" battles.
Hard disagree when it comes to battling other real people, but I've been out of the franchise for so long I can't say if AI battles are any good, I thought they were kind of shit to be honest. Can someone fill us in here?

All I remember is that in the earlier ones, the AI battles were extremely easy and just boiled down to matching the correct element (e.x. water, fire, grass, etc).

You could be 10-20 levels below your opponent, and as long as you used the right element, you could kill all of his Pokemon in 1-2 shots. The AI was also pretty stupid and would do stuff like heal itself even when its HP bar was full.

Remember how Battle Revolution on the Wii could connect to D/P wirelessly? Battle Revolution was the first "Stadium" game to do that, and the last "Stadium" game. You could also get monsters of the pocket from Revolution as prizes, like a Magmortar and whatever that evolution of Electabuzz is.

Also remember when wireless giveaways of rare pokeymens to D/P were a thing at places like GameStop or Toys "R" Us?

(wow I feel old now lol)

They're already making a remake of Diamond and Pearl? I still remember when the original Diamond and Pearl were brand new.
15 years ago this year in Japan. You old buddy

That sounds like you just played Gen 1 and stopped, can't really judge the entire franchise on that. A bit harder to pull that stunt now with better AI and enemy teams using moves that cover their weaknesses. Now I'm not saying the main game is super hard since it's still mainly for kids, but you do have to pay attention

It's best to keep in mind that that was presentation footage. While GF isn't known for their coding prowess, they still have a year to touch up and polish things.

Funny given it was Iwata's amazing coding skills that made Kanto possible to be visited in Gen 2 at all. Gen 2 continues to stand out from all the others to this day for that fact alone.

Good man, kind man, that Iwata. May he rest in peace
