I blame Gen X cynicism for making depression cool. Shapiro has been making this point on his show a lot the past couple weeks, but it's a good one. Biden's administration is talking out of both sides of their mouth. They want to talk about "TEH SCIENCE" and take credit for how well the vaccine rollouts are going and how they are "crushing" the virus, but then they turn around and talk about how even with the vaccine everyone still needs to wear a mask and schools still need to be shut down and that different variants could spring up and put us back at square one and on and on and on.
They need to do the latter because without COVID they can't ram through their shitty legislative agenda and if it does indeed go away they lose a lot of their top down control of the economy. It's a complete fucking joke. They can't have it both ways and this type of approach is eventually going to come around and bite them in the ass. It's impossible to pull the wool over people's eyes indefinitely.
