They can't even fucking decide whether or not the gender of the characters matter. They're just really shitty and childish. I've seen 50k+ Tumblr users reblog those two tweets as something good, and over a quarter of a million reblog a comic about how the show is "really" for them.

So not only is it a loud minority of fans, but it's encouraged by a shitty staff (save for that Ian guy).

I like how the OP gives no context to what the doctor guy is replying to, so that people would be more inclined to side with them rather than the medical professional. He didn't even belittle or 'infantilize' them, both of which seem to be popular tumblr buzzwords lately.

Eh, I wouldn't really go that far. Based on some of their tweets, most of the writers lean heavily to the left politically, and occasionally they'll use an SJW buzzword or make a tweet that will have SJWs jizzing themselves, but on the other hand, they're not anywhere near as hateful or exclusionary as the Tumblr crowd. They've openly dismissed the idea that the show is for any specific group, and said the show is "for everybody". They've also stated that the central theme of the show is that nobody's perfect, and you shouldn't hate people for their differences. Both of those statements go against the Tumblr hivemind. And at the very least, they're good at keeping their politics out of the show itself. The only full-blown SJW I know of on the crew is Kate Leth, and she only does art for the official comics (several of the comic artists started as prominent fan artists, and, unfortunately, she was one of them).

Funny thing about privilege is that simply being a straight, white dude doesn't negate all the other things going on with their lives. It just means that there's certain problems they don't have to deal with that others do.

Also, is OP not aware of Miles Morales in the Ultimates Universe? And as far as the straight thing goes, well, yeah, but...

This is the impression that I get as well. There's a difference between SJ leanings and being full-blown SJW, because SJW is when you're basically using social justice as a way of gaining power and popularity on social media, or you're a mindless drone being sent to attack on somebody else's behalf without asking questions because SHE SAID HE WAS RACIST/SEXIST/TRANSPHOBIC, OMG.

Now I have a pretty hard time buying the notion that asxeuality is inherently a queer identity. You aren't sexually attracted to people ("because you can still have sex and not have sexual attraction uwu" my feathery ass), congrats. The hardest shit you deal with is the fact that society does have a pretty weird attitude about sex in general, and ya don't get that sweet representation. An annoyance, but there are a lot more groups who need some rep besides entitled straight people (yeah we got plenty of that action).

There are a lot of commenters who are singing the tune of "well that person isn't straight!" and complaining about how people questioning this bullshit are all horrible acephobes or whatever. But, as Tumblr is wont to do, gotta have people shoehorning themselves into places they don't belong. It isn't that hard to say "yeah, I'm straight but I don't really like sex." Nope, they're queer as queer can be!

It's because tumblr loves to stereotype and think that all people that are straight like sex. You can be straight/gay/lesbian/bi and still dislike sex. It does not necessarily mean you are asexual.
