The thing about "reality" tv is that with editing you can achieve any effect you want. With VLB, I always assumed it was edited to make Bam appear to be a likable jerk. Guess they succeeded on "likable," and edited down just how big of an asshole he is.

What's funny is even his cameo in THE UNDERRATED CULT CLASSIC Grind portrayed him as an utter dickhead.

Wow this was hard to watch. She seems to be able to deflect Bam’s humiliation of her but it reminds me of his mean streak when he was fucking with his parents. Do you think she is actually cool with this or is she deep down suppressing her feelings of being PO’d with him throwing all of these sex toys at her while filming. Some people really push on those that are closest to them as if they are taking out something on them like a punching bag or just needing somebody else to reduce to their level.

I feel like I’ve seen this behaviour before from people who make their partner the butt of jokes and humiliate them in front of friends. It’s really toxic and then they still expect their partner to wipe their ass for them and take care of household chores while they are kicking back chugging cans of beer.

I'm probably late on this one but I find it hilarious he has gone to the lengths of printing t-shirts and creating protest signs about his conditions for being part of Jackass. I mean damn his petty spite campaign is really funny and sad at the same time. If he had a long term vision for his family this movie would comfortably set him up for retirement and he could cover his kid's future. Bam would be a nightmare to work with in his current state though. But its interesting lurking his instagram and seeing sparks of his latent talent still there like when he was doing kick flips with Steve-O. Its really too bad he can't keep it together for his family or career and still manages to find enablers when he is at rock bottom. I mean he is not quite there yet he still has millions of dollars but at this rate it won't last. One set back like an argument with his wife or some little drama any little excuse and he is back in crack binge mode. When he loses his family over his behaviour he will really have nothing to keep him from spiralling into a full on trap house existence.

Well, Jackass 4 was never going to set up Bam for retirement. His claims of being paid $6 mil for the film are fucking laughable. He had to beg, plead, pay for regular drug testing out of pocket and agree to a fucking iron clad substance abuse and behavior contact just to even be given a chance to appear in some of the film.

I’d be shocked if he would have gotten paid even $150k if he had managed to live up to the bargain he struck to be included in the film.

Not even Knoxville would get paid $6 mill for being in Jackass, though he might end up making more than that if it’s successful enough as a producer with some points on the back end and the merch rights are probably juicy af.

Not validating them but, from my experience, that age group of dudes, the ones who grew up parting in the 00s, with MySpace as their main social media, are always a bit like this. I've also noticed they seem to have a hard time growing up. Just my experience.

I was a big fan of VLB, but if they tried to make Bam not look like a spoiled little shit that got away with everything, they didn't do a very good job.

I’d almost bet that’s how they got him to Florida. He moved out to LA to try and shadow the crew and if they all went to film on location in Florida Bam would want to follow. Getting him there and then convince him that this rock n roll rehab is pay back for the sports car Novak wrecked. I love that they had to sell it to him by telling its where all the big rock stars go.

Of note is this part where Knoxville discusses watching his friends go through hard times, and of course the conversation leads to Bam.

Other members of the cast had more trouble adjusting to fame. Steve-O very publicly battled drug addiction. In recent years worrying signs have come from Bam Margera, who has entered and exited rehab a number of times. Cast member Ryan Dunn died in 2011 in a drunk-driving accident. Watching his friends struggle has been immensely challenging for Knoxville.

“It's difficult when your friends are…” He trailed off and quieted to nearly a whisper. “It was heartbreaking, losing Ryan. And it was tough when Steve-O was going off the rails. But he has completely, completely turned his life around and is doing just—I mean, he's doing terrific. He's a different, different man.”

I asked if he ever felt that the show, or the lifestyle around it, was responsible for exacerbating his friends' struggles.

“I think each of us was responsible for his own actions,” he said, measured. “And when someone's struggling, everyone tries to help that person. And at the end of the day, that person has to want help. Sometimes they don't. Yet.”

I asked him if he was speaking about anyone specifically.

He looked away, visibly emotional. Half a minute passed.

“We want Bam to be happy and healthy and get the help he needs,” he said. “We tried to push that along. I think that's all I really want to say about it.”

I feel bad for him. He clearly wants to help Bam and even remembering the way his friends suffered hurts him. The guy may be a showman, but he genuinely cares about his friends. Hell, even when he talked about Bam he had to compose himself before giving an answer. I can't imagine how he feels right now.

It also paints Bam in an even worse light with all the incoherent ranting he's been doing about Knoxville and Tremaine.
