Jackass Director Files for Restraining Order Against Bam Margera

Bam Margera could be taking the "Jackass" drama a little too personally -- because the franchise's director just filed for a restraining order against him.

Jeff Tremaine -- who's shepherded the "Jackass" movies for years now -- just filed for a temporary restraining order against his onetime pal and star, Bam ... this following a messy few months of dirty laundry being aired, and conflicting accounts about production of the 4th film in the franchise.

It’s unclear at this point what exactly he claims might've happened now to warrant a judge's intervention, but we know this ... it comes on the heels of Bam going on a fuming rant against Tremaine and Johnny Knoxville.

He claims they strung him along to be part of "Jackass 4," only to cut him loose in the end over what Bam calls unreasonable demands.

Bam posted his latest claims from Florida, where he says he's on his own and seeking the help he needs. The guy's been in and out of rehab lately and his former costars -- including Steve-O -- say they’ve desperately been trying to get through to him.

Bam's gone back and forth for months with his former pals. You might recall, the dude was literally calling on fans to boycott the newest "Jackass" movie when it came out ... only to turn around a day or so later with an about-face.

The relationship's clearly in a bad place now.

This is getting worse and worse by the day now. Wait until Bam gets off his smartphone and gets into a physical confrontation with these guys.

I agree. I don't expect this will end good if Jackass 4 is done filming and the guys are already done with Jackass after that. Bam, however, would want to keep going bigger and bigger until push comes to shove and he's filmed killing himself for over a stunt.

So this article interviewing Johnny Knoxville released today.

Of note is this part where Knoxville discusses watching his friends go through hard times, and of course the conversation leads to Bam.
Knoxville and Tremaine have been saints towards Bam. Any other producer in Hollywood would have never given Bam the time of day. Who the fuck would give Bam a chance to participate in a film today? He’s an out of control addict, he’s fat, he’s gross, very mentally unstable, just a giant liability to any film. All risk, zero upside. In Bam’s head he’s a vital star, but in reality no one gives a shit if he’s in the movie or not. He’s an afterthought at best. With the way he looks and behaves it would be much better for them to leave him in the past and not stink up their new production.

They bent over backwards to give him a chance to be in the film, not because they actually wanted him in the film, but if using it as a carrot would get Bam to seek help and remain sober it was worth it to try and help him.

No good deed goes unpunished.

I think because Steve-O and Novak and others managed to get their shit together that they keep hoping Bam can do the same but Steve-O and the others were always made of better stuff than Bam. Bam has always been a shallow, narcissistic shithead with a huge ego and superiority complex, not to mention a cruel streak. His ego and lack of humility ensures treatment or therapy are wasted effort. Knoxville and the gang should have cut bait with him long ago.

I’d almost bet they kept trying more for his parents than for Bam. I get the idea Bam’s parents are very warmly regarded and for their sake people kept going above and beyond for Bam,

For sure, he's going to die in the not-too-distant future. But, I doubt it will be a stunt for one of his modern, obscure, cringey productions. He'll probably be found bloated and naked in some random ditch, with drool all over his face. The reactions will be similar to Lisa Robin Kelly, where some people felt kind of bad, but were not surprised at all.

My question is...who exactly are Margera's fans these days who are liking his posts on IG and such? He seems to still have a pretty big reach on IG and gets thousands of likes on posts, even very mean-spirited ones like the ones belittling Novak's recovery. It would make sense if his fans were young but I don't think he has a lot of appeal with Gen Z. Are there really that many losers in their 30s who still look up to this guy?

probably manchildren who were fans of VLB and jackass in the 2000s, never grew out of it, and never realized what pathetic fuckups these dudes actually were

What a lad.

@MirnaMinkoff To piggyback on your statement - I guarantee you Knoxville and crew love Bam’s parents more than Bam does, at least functionally - Ryan’s death really brought reality crashing down on them. And it wrapped itself around a tree and caught fire.

The party wasn’t fun anymore. They’ve learned to capture genuine joy out of life, while still being doofuses. That’s a gift that Bam wouldn’t take.

As an aside, Knoxville HAS kinda become a silver fox, huh? Woof!

What you wrote is 100% correct, but you failed to mention that Bam is not insurable at all. Most movie productions and especially one such as Jackass has cast insurance meant to cover any cost that could happen if somebody gets too injured, or somebody gets arrested. Movie productions are easily 5+ figures in dollars a day to shoot. Having an actor even go to jail is a major cost. Bam's condition to be even IN Jackass 4 meant that Tremaine and Knoxville along with all the producers have to put up more than usual, because Bam's so called "pre-existing condition" of being a narcissistic drug-abusing idiot is public knowledge, and would you insure somebody like that without a bunch of cash upfront and pre-conditions of sobriety?

So Bam didn't just burn the bridge of Jackass, but managed to salt the earth on both sides and dump toxic sludge on it as well. Not only did Tremaine and Knoxville probably put a shit ton of money in Insurance just for Bam - allegedly, problem actors cost at least six-figures in insurance to cover and Covid means the insurance is even higher as movie insurance companies lost a shit ton of money during covid and jacked up rates, and run-on sentences be damned, it's JACKASS, so of course you know there will be medical injuries which will raise the rates high anyway - Bam is now trying to actively sabotage Jackass like a scorned ex and threatening to beat the same people who poured a shit ton of money in him.

Imagine giving near a million dollars to give your friend a job that pays well in the six figures for at most 3 months of filming and has royalties that will probably be another six-figure check in the future, AND all that's required for him to do is be sober and breath in a tube for 3 times in a day. That friend decides to screw around and have tons of negative publicity for being a drug-abusing idiot, and now wants to fight you for not wanting to be near that friend who is not just sabotaging themselves, but the whole workplace. Bam the idiot is literally trying to steal work out of thousands people's mouth (the whole cast and production of Jackass 4 ) because he can't stop poppin' pills.

Obese infants get 100,000 followers on IG, 500 lb women who dance in skimpy clothes get 200,000. People follow train wrecks on SM. Bam’s past fame and name recognition certainly help. He’s low enough on the fame pole and obviously runs his own account so ppl feel like they are his buds commenting on his feed. Bored people will follow and watch almost anything.

I can’t even figure out if Bam realizes that Johnny Knoxville wasn’t personally coming up with all these requirements and sobriety checks him. I know he does but he’s trying to pretend on SM that Knoxville and Tremaine were requiring these conditions just to be assholes.

The entire contact Bam signed was based on being able to insure him for the production. Normally they’d never even bother with someone as small potatoes as Bam and with a track record as bad as his. Production companies will only usually go out on a limb for a big fucking star who has recent addiction issue because their star power is worth taking the risk - think someone like Brad Pitt, Mathew MacCounghey, Joaquin Phoenix, etc. where their box office draw and acting skills make it worth the hassle and risk.

Bam is just a fat, drunk washed up skate dude fifteen years past his prime. The only reason they bent over backwards to give him a chance at participating in the film was kindness and wanting to try to help him get his shit together. There was no other reason, he brought nothing but bullshit and headaches to the production, and no box office draw or talent.

For all the “fight me” and nastiness Bam is speeding at Knoxville, behind the scenes he cried like a baby and begged them to give him a chance. They are softies that give a shit, so they did. It’s sad they got so fucked over by Bam. He’s a nasty piece of work.

They really should have used the film as a way to have an intervention for him. Not so much to make it part of it's storyline, but as a way to lure Bam into it and eventually a bargaining chip.

I kind of wonder if they were planning an intervention for him but the plans just fell apart.

I've said it before, and I'm saying it again, if having a kid didn't make him clean his act up, nothing will. Even if he really was acting like this because of the death of Ryan Dunn, having a child should have been enough of a kick in the ass to make him want to live a better life.
Why do people think that having a kid somehow makes people wholesome, when a ton of single mothers and broken homes tell otherwise? Parenting can change someone if one could give a fuck to begin with and with Bam it's obviously not the case.

Well, there's probably stories out there that say someone was about to become a parent but was screwed up. Ultimately they cleaned up, turned their life around and now live happily ever after. But I agree with you there's also the opposite with children growing in terrible environments because their family is fractured and have bad habits like drugs; no good role models, etc.

That's the problem with all those stories of success and redemption - that's the only thing that gets traction, since people love it, so they assume it's the rule, not exception. Behind each and every of those there are stories of failure and degradation, but since no one wants to listen to them, they are forgotten. Children are not some magical cure to all the people's shortcomings, it's just a very good reason to change.

I was a big fan of VLB, but if they tried to make Bam not look like a spoiled little shit that got away with everything, they didn't do a very good job.

That or they somehow managed to tone it down from something way worse.
I was too. But when you go back and watch some of the old episodes (some on YouTube / some on Vimeo) you could see how Bam relied on absolutely everyone else to handle his life for him. Missy and his Mom planned that entire wedding. Not unheard of for a guy not to be 100% involved, but usually I’m sure they’d at least want a say in some of the stuff that goes on.

In the video someone posted from Vice. The mini documentary about his life - he was whining to Phil and Ape to have them do or explain something on his behalf because he didn’t want to. He was acting like a shy toddler. The man is the very definition of a man baby.

Sure you can go through life like that, but the dude now has a child of his own. Time to grow up, my dude. Lead by example or your kid will end up being a washed up drugged out fat 40 year old, like yourself. He deserves better than that. He didn’t pick his parents.
