Thoughts about DSP's Psychology - Dr Fred Freud's Office

If that's "above average" then there's tons of people his age who are fucking demigod elite.
I don't think there's a lot of people in his age range that are in better shape or smarter than him but quite the opposite actually. He got accepted into an easy Masters degree program and can follow basic Youtube tutorials on coding (apparently his process improvement claim), and walkthroughs on games. I just assume most boomers fall into the camp of needing help to beat stages in Spyro or Mario Odyssey because they lack co-ordination.
above average fitness? are you having a giggle? he looks 10 years older than he is,has a broken back, general atrophy on all of his body, post nasal drip, has chicken legs,no muscle at all, not big but still fat.saggy manboobs.etc
He's almost 40, the average is him with his alcoholism + 50lbs and some other issue like smoking or drug addiction.

I believe Phil has some sort of personality disorder rather than being on the autistic spectrum, since I have had interactions with many autistic people. Phil has shown himself to be a decent public speaker as well as his speech never comes across as messy or too limited, which is a symptom of autism. He probably just shares a few traits which you can expect from people on the autistic spectrum, but that doesn't mean he has autism.

Besides, unless we get a clinical psychologist to sit down with Phil and get a diagnosis, we can only speculate what's wrong with Phil. Though he did say he has depression.

Though he did say he has depression
Phil confuses a truth speaking consciousness with depression, he is even a narcissist towards his own suppressed thoughts. There is no way Phil is a loser, a bad person, a toxic individual, he doesn't deserve his good live - while he literally is a loser, a bad person, toxic individual and doesn't deserve his good life. It's almost as if he directly aims to be the most garbage person day in and day out, but he suppresses his honest feelings and won't register he did anything wrong.

Then the other day his depression is directly linked to the financial gains he made that day.

Nah, I tell you. He's googled his feelings and it matched up with depression. So depression it is. And a story of depression makes a great pity story. Heal him with money please.

Phil is the type of person to lie about his mental health for pity donations. Though I am willing to believe he genuinely has some form of depression, solely because his living conditions are terrible. After all, who wouldn't get depressed if after 10 years of making videos, you're one of the most infamous cahntent creators out there who's claims to fame are doing well in EVO 2005, your sizeable hatedom, and that you masturbated on stream? And that's not going into other stuff like his finances, relationships or health.

Something this thread did teach me is Phil overlaps with a LOT of conditions, which tells me clinical psychology is hard with diagnosing a person because they may show symptoms for two or more disorders - especially on the surface level - and even then misdiagnoses do happen (many people with autism get diagnosed as having OCD or ADD). Or Phil is just a petri dish with a million psychological health conditions.

He's not really even a "decent" public speaker. He is good at telling his own story and shitting on any dissenting opinions. Beyond that, his repetition of the same words and phrases, inability to have silly discourse with chat (even those that are khantributing), the loads of dead air punctuated with goat laughs... I am far from qualified to say he's legitimately autistic. I will refer to him as such as a quaint little jab. But, he is NOT even remotely a decent public speaker. His inane, redundant ramblings are a reason why the lawnmower sound became a meme in various 'tractor videos

When he's talking to his shtreem audience, the unironic fans, they couldn't care less about what he's saying. He could be reciting a recipe for no-bake cookies and they wouldn't care. The couple of clips we've seen of him at conventions speaking to fans of his...same thing. And, he did the same thing at those cons that he does to this day: spews out the exact same underdog "this was just supposed to be a hahbby, not my full time jahb!" spiel. Nothing he actually says is interesting.

Put him in a room with 35 completely neutral people and task him with some sort of speech with the end goal being to convert 10 of them to watch his khantent or shtreems. He'd snort and lip-smack his way to an empty room in no time flat.

Here's a compiled list of insights into Phil's psychology from the @itsthatanonmouse discord leaks (although most of it is confirming what kiwifarms users already said).

First off: here's the big one.
Phil has a superiority complex fueled by the apologies of paypiggies and trolls (apology fetish). This is surely related to when Phil would go on his on-stream rants against well-known viewers and ban them, only to unban them after the stream.

Here's some more interesting bits.

Phil gaslights his mods just as much as his viewers, telling them what to think and discouraging them from thinking for themselves.

Telling mods to not be involved (read: learn from outside sources) about drama, I think this was referring to the guy who was making death threats on emails that Phil leaked to twitter.

Phil tells his mods not to go to Kiwifarms as he himself visits Kiwifarms, another example of Phil being manipulative and attempting to insert himself as the "ministry of truth" instead of allowing others to gather facts themselves.

Phil shifts blame away from himself to deflect criticism to his mods instead of taking ownership of their actions, as they work for him (for free).

Phil pits viewers/mods against each other in private dms, frequently saying that the person he's currently talking to is completely legit as other members are lying.

Paranoid Phil keeps a excessively long banned-term list, frequently concerned about adding new detractor terms to the list.

I still don't think he's autistic. He can talk a lot but if you notice he never really says anything. I think he's just a dumb person who happen to fall into a bit of luck. I really don't think an autistic person would be as nasty and dumb as he is. An autistic lacks empathy but do it by mistake. DSP knows what he's doing, he hoards money, talks shit, manipulates etc.

On another note its weird that he was able to keep leanna and ket around so long. I think its pretty easy to see through his bullshit and woman especially are good at that. Most women get bored if you don't mix things up. I have a hard time believing Kat doesn't think he's a loser who's full of shit.

One thing that I wanted to add is regarding how Phil feels towards criticism. I posted this on the main thread a while ago:

Phil just said the following rant while playing COD:

"MarkMcauley says 'how do you deal all the hate you get does it ARARA make you feel down? YEAH! There is sometimes when I get so much hate and bullshit thrown against me, it's completely unwarranted non-sense...that *shrugs* it makes you feel like shit, that's just the human nature, when you have UH UH a group of people who constantly are at you and say everything you do is unworthy of any kind of appraise or attention, you know ,all these horrible things about you that you know aren't true but you really...you are not gonna sit there and defend yourself 24/7 you are just gonna try to live your life right? Uh yeah it can make me feel like shit but as I told you guys there is more than enough people who don't care about the slander and the defamation on the internet about me, there is more than enough that will still come to the stream, still support me , they don't care about the bullshit people make up...and I'm happy that over the 12 plus years that I have done this people tell me what I do is meaningful ,they don't care about the non-sense, here we are, several days into some horseshit on the internet about me, no one cares!

Like literally no one with a brain cares, no one is going to sit here and talk about drama and shit, we are here to have fun with the game that's all I was ever here for, so that's a good thing! that I can separate myself from the horseshit and not have to fucking worry that 'oh some idiot is trying to say shit about me today' , I have to worry about people 'now everything is derailed, people don't watch my streams' that's not the case actually its the opposite I feel, that we have uh enough ,awww shit *dies*, there is enough uhh there is enough OHH I dont have my headphones on ,ups! *puts headphones around his neck instead on his ears* there is enough people who don't believe slander and enough people who like what I do for a living that it doesn't matter what people say about me anymore, it really doesn't!! Its completely...it's neither here or there anymore, they make up as much as they fucking want it it doesn't matter...allright anyway..."
This gives us an insight into his brain ,when Phil gets called a terrible streamer ,a scammer, an autist, a liar, a retard, when people tell him to stop blaming lag, the game, the trolls, etc. and tell the truth to him HE KNOWS THOSE THINGS AREN'T TRUE!! but he feels down because he gets so much hate for no reason. This is what I wanted to compare it too: Imagine that whenever you leave the house (in Phil's case start the stream or go anywhere on the internet) people for no reason started insulting you, calling a retarded piece of shit, a pedophile, a shit human, they start yelling at you to go the fuck away and never come back. You would feel bad wouldn't you? But in this example it wouldn't be your fault because you did nothing wrong, people are just doing that for no reason, this is how Phil feels, every single time someone tells him something that is true about him he immediately labels it as slander non sense made by sick in the head trolls that are resentful of his success and calls the person an idiot and proceeds to block him/ban him.

Phil narcissism is so out of control he can read 100 negative messages a day about himself that are true and labels them all as slander made by no life idiots, he is fundamentally unable to change anything about himself because he is perfect, if you call him a fat ,scamming ,autistic ,compulsive liar ,retard he will feel bad but only because he is being insulted and slandered not because any of it is true.

When it comes to him changing in the end it reminds me of his retrospective events where he watches a video from 9 years ago and he is agreeing with himself all of the time, some people were saying that he should stop blaming the game while playing dark souls and that he was bad? They were a bunch of elitist pieces of shit that think everyone should play the game only one way and don't care about the common gamer! They were being shitheads for no reason ,Phil did nothing wrong. Other example is when is watching a video of himself playing dinasty warriors and starts singing chiki chang woka chan chin chin chong and 2020 Phil is laughing his ass off at him being a 60IQ racist, or when he watches a video of himself playing a figthing game, old Phil says "cloudn't block!!!" and 2020 Phil adds "Look! I couldn't block!!" as if there was some magical way in which many years in the future he could know if there was lag or not by looking at the screen.

This retard will never change, he is going to be in his 60s with the same excuses and if you tell him the truth in social media, twitch or on here all he is going to do is feel bad because he is being slandered and insulted but he did nothing wrong so he won't change.

Lastly Phil has this weird narcissist thing where if he replies to you he automatically made an argument and won, no matter how retarded what he said is, it reminds me when you watch cop shows and some poor retard with an IQ of 70 is arguing with another poor retard with an IQ of 70 and they just repeat the same thing ad infinitum until they get in a fight. My point is that when something bad happens to Phil in any area of his life or when you call him out he has to say something, it doesn't matter how retarded or non sensical, the fact that he said something means that he won and if you don't agree you are an idiot that gets blocked. He has no control of his emotions and like all narcissists he exists in a state of repressed rage, ready to explode at any moment, I remember when he was playing COD a few weeks ago and when someone called him out on complaining all the time he said that he was "letting off steam", he is like a child that needs to complain when he doesn't get his way, the "letting off steam" comments lets me know he has no control over his emotions and if he is feeling angry because something didn't go his way he needs to complain, it doesn't matter how non sensical, because he is like a child throwing a tantrum and also needs to get the last word on the matter.

He's also got a massive victim complex, not that that is a surprise. In the psychology thread I've made a post about a "newly discovered" disorder called TIV or Tendency of Interpersonal Victimhood. Now there's a lot of dimensions to it, but one of the easiest ways to see if someone has TIV or not is whether they perceive themselves as an agent or object, or more plainly speaking whether they the see themselves as someone who acts upon the world or someone who gets acted upon. Phil is definitely the latter, it's always someone else who either fucks him over, like da trollz, the booksmart nudniks at Google, Machinima, the theks guy etc. or it's someone else who was the one who stuck it to the detractors by proving he did nothing wrong and that there was nothing he could do, like the bankruptcy court.

I'm skeptical of this because his agency and victim status are entirely dependent on the narrative. When something good happens, it was entirely his own doing and never blind luck or a team effort. When something neutral or bad happens, it was outside actors and probably a super-secret conspiracy. By the same logic his life can go from "perfect and anyone who disagrees is jealous" when he's trying to dunk on a troll to "terrible and no sane person would want it" when he's begging for money five minutes later. I don't have to know which of these is right to know they can't all be true.

Its all driven by insecurity at the end of the day, he can't admit that he is not perfect so whenever something good happens to him is because he is amazing and when something bad happens is because everyone is out to get him, once you look at him through the lens of insecurity it makes sense, the victim complex only occurs when he has to admit he is not the best.

That's a great point. Yeah, he really does switch agency depending on whether it's to make everything good be his own doing and shifting the blame on anything bad that happens. Though he does check off the 4 dimensions of the Tendency of Interpersonal Victimhood that were described in the paper.

I would say the psychology behind his gambling is interesting. I think with most people when you are gambling you get a high but when you lose 1-2k or whatever it is then you feel like shit after. Phil is losing hundred if not thousands a day. Is he not going through these emotional cycles? how do you blow 40k and not put a shotgun in your mouth? It's strange. Idk what part of brain you use during gambling maybe dopamine?

Imo he doesn't really have any diagnosable mental illnesses. He's just vapid, immature, and has zero sense of delayed gratification. The stuff like gambling and obesity is just a byproduct of his immaturity and zero sense of delayed gratification, which goes hand in hand with a lack of inhibition control. The stuff surrounding his lack of gaming skills and blaming everything but himself is largely a product of the Dunning Kruger effect. He vastly overestimates his abilities with any given task, and when he fails he deflects blame because in his mind it can't be his fault.

If he ever went to a decent psychologist that didn't just want to fill up their schedule for a few extra bucks, they likely wouldn't diagnose him with anything, but try to put him on a self-improvement plan (which he likely wouldn't do, unless they stayed on his ass). If I were giving him a plan it would be something like this.

Set aside 30 minutes per day for exercise.
Keep a journal and try to write down one new thing you learned that day (it's okay if it's gaming-related).
Set up a punching bag near where you're going to be playing and start to recognize when you're getting frustrated. When you are, get to a stopping point, and then get up and hit the bag at least ten times.
Set up a budget for entertainment-related things, and have that be the absolute limit for that week.

So recently DSP went on his Pokémon cards rant, where he shit on middle aged men for collecting them or whatever, and he segued into the story about his dad standing in line to get him the latest Spawn action figures. He shit on the middle aged men also in line to buy them for themselves and juxtaposed this with him being a kid at the time and the reason he wanted the Spawn action figures was to play with them.

IIRC he was born in 1983 (correct me if I'm wrong) and the first series of Spawn action figures came out in 1994, which would make DSP 11 years old at that time. Let's also assume that his interest in collecting and playing with the Spawn action figures wasn't limited to the first series, and say he kept this up for at least another year. So from age 11 to age 12 he was collecting Spawn action figures to "play with" as opposed to displaying on shelves or whatever collectors do.

Am I just misremembering my own childhood or is that weirdly old to still be playing with action figures? Growing up I had the old Transformers toys when they were still made from metal and the TMNT toys, but I feel like by the 6th or 7th grade I was well out of playing with action figures.

One of the clearest psychological lines running through all of the DSP lore is how much of a late bloomer he was. Still playing with action figures in the 6th/7th grade, still living at home in his mid-20's, first girlfriend in his late-20's, I'm sure there are tons of other examples.

It's not just you, it's weird.. From my own recollection I was done with action figures (not dolls you nudnik!) by the second to third grade and can't think of other collectibles like trading cards or Legos or whatever that took their place.

The Wolverine story is in a similar vein and also makes no sense unless he was in his teens when it happened: In his telling his parents screwed up not because they didn't get him the toy, but because they got him the second production run which had a way lower resale value. Elementary and middle schoolers aren't going to think like that, they're going to be too focused on getting a brand new toy to consider anything else and I'm not sure you could buy their favorite toy from them for any amount of money. It also says a lot about Phil's psyche that he understood the concept of resale value and how it relates to first/limited production runs but he could only apply it to X-Men.

Yeah there's a certain point when a nerdy kid goes from playing with the action figures to displaying them for reasons of prestige or whatever. On one hand DSP wanted Spawn toys to play with but on the other hand he wanted a rare Wolverine toy based on clout. Clout that was worthless to him a year later.

It's hard to make heads or tails of this guy's upbringing, but of all the stories I've heard his relationship to toys is one of the most insightful.
