Got to calm your horses, there's a lot of unsubstantiated things being said here right now. Japanese audiences didn't react to this much different from western audiences. When the last chapter was released the consensus among people who aren't terminally online autists was that it was decent enough. They were happy that their favorites didn't die and that the world didn't get fully rumbled.
General japanese audiences had mostly the same reaction. But Japan also has the online autists who see this as a betrayal of the overall story.
It will be interesting to see how this develops, as the more vocal critics can and have in the past changed general consensus on fiction.
The fanfics supposed to fix the ending is autistic as all hell, but anyone who claims that this is somehow shady business or wrong needs to seriously calm down as well.
I'll give them this though, the art is better than the official last chapter from what I've seen.

I mean it's not much of a surprise to me since 2ch is just as autistic as the dumbest retards on 4chan. I am just saying how these Erenfags (especially the ones from Yaegerbomb and /pol/) act like the entirety of Japan's AOT readerbase would be in support of them enough to get MAPPA to adapt their retarded fanfic or Isayama to bow down admitting it's better than what he wrote.

We might just see that depending on what Isayama's next project is and whether or not it will be successful enough to fuel his massive addiction to cocaine and hallucinogens.
I know I'm preaching to the choir but I liked the first two seasons of Attack on Titan and was ready to get into the manga as well and then I found out about the sudden surprise twist and felt like maybe I dodged a bullet.
The ultimate twist that Eren was just a whiny Nice Guy this whole time and the internet meltdowns over the ending on all sides were just the icing on the cake.

Honestly the fanbase has gotten more autistic with the fanfic especially with the team behind the fanfic acting like they and the Erenfags are the ones who truly understand the themes of the story while everyone who disagrees with them are simpletons while they have the 5000 IQ to understand AOT. If you want to write a fanfic to "fix" the story of Attack On Titan for just a fun little hobby thing, I get that. But these guys take it way too seriously and are fucking delusional.
Truer words have never been spoken.
The fact they're so insane about it and go to the lengths they do to justify it is something else though.

Are the deepest form of writing to ever exist and that killing everyone while being vaguely sad about it while living with your off-screen love interest and off-screen child is extremely deep writing.

The ending of this series was terrible and I can't blame any fans for trying to make a better fanfic (hell I wish this was more common, imagine a well-written group effort fanfic for ASOIAF), but I can't help but think that the AOT Requiem people are going to go too far in the opposite direction, making Eren into some super-deep edgy Chad character, instead of a traumatized teenager desperately trying to do what he thinks is right. There has to be a middle ground between "pathetic simp who just wanted to fuck his stepsister" and "genocidal maniac who makes cool poses". Either way though, no matter what they do, I don't think it could possibly be worse than what Isayama wrote, so I'm enjoying it so far.
