The whole ASMR scene on youtube was kinda destroyed when mid roll ads started. No more laying in bed and relaxing to a recording of rain or someone gently running a fork through kinetic sand on your phone or tablet.

Regarding IRyS caraoke: we are 7 songs in and no english ones yet
I don't have anything against singing itself, but for "hololive-en" vsinger that's disappointing amount of english songs

She does not have much content on her channel yet, and she’s about to hit 500K sub if you are also into numberfag.
I think her strat is to build up certain amount of music videos on her channel before start singing English songs (obviously gonna be unarchive) and pick a more EN friendly streaming time for that. Plus since she must maintain that kayfade even though her singing had been proven in the past decades.
This makes me come to realize how similar and different between IRyS and Gura. Both had cute voice and innate talent for singing, but Gooruh use her voice for meme singing while IRyS use her voice for serious singing. English songs stream will come eventually, but it must be unarchived. Not to mention, if IRyS had a sense of entertainment value like Gooruh, she will limited those English singing streams and make it like drugs for shrimps

The second those streams are affixed in a physical medium, yes. Unarchived streams fall under the "live performance" rule, but the recorded version is a copy/derivative work which requires holding a right or license.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Actually, JP songs still need permission from the rights holders to sing. It's almost why you can see the same set list between all the talents and their setlist. Since Cover already got the permission for the song, it more or less becomes a blanket greenlight to sing. EN/Western songs whereas.. well, the music industry is pretty greedy to the point that they have more or less threatened the Twitch platform that they will DMCA anyone on the platform playing any of their music (regardless of if licenses have been granted too). Doesn't matter if its for karaoke, DDR, BGM, ingame music, VOD, clips etc etc. If their system can detect it, DMCA incoming. And DMCA's are considered copyright strikes so if an account gets it multiple times (up to 3 iirc) the account gets nuked. Pretty sure this is the same standard Youtube is held by but Youtube's internal systems kinda almost prevents this from happening until the archive is up by itself and the automated system can scrub through. Does it mean you're safe? No because if a human watching decided to report you, it's a matter of how soon will the DMCA lawyers will be at your door and/or if you can delete any evidence of you breaking said copyright.

Also, that doesn't mean "Oh JP is less strict with copyrights than EN". I would just point to how Mio almost lost her entire channel and work because Capcom/SEGA kept nuking her with copyrights (pretty sure it was SEGA because they are notorious for being very fickle and strict with their copyrights). Even when they get permission, they gotta dance around it to make sure they ain't gonna accidentally show something that woul get em nuked by copyright lawyers.

Conclusion? Copyright is good to make sure you are the legitmate owner for a piece of work and that you should be compensated properly for its use. It's just that in today's age of rapid media propogation, the laws and rules meant to enforce copyrights are archaic and so vague, they end up just shotgun blasting alot of people instead of actually going after actual infringements

I just saw Suisei misinterpret a viewer prompt "Suisei getting shot and die as she end her stream", reference to the event where Flare shot her in Minecraft as MiComet try to snipe her earlier. And Suisei draw herself, with accurate streaming set-up ending her stream on PC, with a hand holding a gun and shoot bullet directly behind her head. All that without a stop or a hint of awakwardness. Only after she finish drawing that did she realize it refer to event in Minecraft.
