Star Wars Expanded Universe Fans/Cultists - I HOPE YOU LIKE STAR WARS AUTISM

Reviving this thread again...

Found this autism on Facebook. No words.

"So, how does THAT make you feel? "

Like laughing. Laughing harder than you can imagine.

Whenever you go on any Clone Wars or Rebels-related video these days, the comments consist almost entirely of Clone Wars vs Rebels autism. It annoys me because while Rebels isn't the greatest show ever at least they're trying something different rather than rehashing characters and storylines we've seen a hundred times like Clone Wars did. Its first season was a lot better than Clone Wars's first season and it has the potential to go somewhere really interesting. But fanboys (who've probably never watched a single episode) are pissing all over it because "WAAAA CLONE WARS GOT CANCELLED!!! DISNEY SUX!!!" Then again, I suppose it's asking a lot for these autists to act rationally. *sigh*

Also "Fake" Star Wars VII? If there a fan film I'm missing here, or is he actually ranting on The Force Awakens?
It's fake for real Star Wars fans because Disney retconned this out of the lore.

Quoting from the Palpatine article on the Star Wars wikia...

But even death was not the end for Palpatine. Unlike his Sith predecessors, Palpatine had never intended to be replaced by an apprentice, expecting his Empire to rule the galaxy eternally, with only himself as its true leader. Unable to fully master his former Master's secret, Palpatine had to find a different way to cheat death. During the Clone Wars he tasked Jedi Arligan Zey to capture rogue Kaminoan Chief Scientist Ko Sai following her defection to the Separatists a year and a half into the war. Palpatine hoped Ko Sai would be able to engineer him a longer life span. However, he was denied the chance when Ko Sai showed up dead in 21 BBY.[88]

At an unknown point in time prior to his death at the Battle of Endor Palpatine had found a different way to cheat death by preserving his spirit after the death of his body, by the method of spirit transference. He arranged for a series of clones of himself to be created for his spirit to possess, in the event that he would perish. His primary supply of clones was kept on Byss, guarded by loyal Dark Jedi and immense genetically-altered guards and maintained by a trusted private physician. Unfortunately, the clones were heavily ravaged by the dark side and not sustained by the Force. Each body he took would age and deteriorate more quickly than the last. But the Dark Lord was not concerned; he had an endless supply of clones which he could use to rule the Empire.

In other words...

"Doesn't count I cloned myself so I can live forever hahaha!"

I don't know why, but after reading that, I think I came out more confused than before I entered.

Is that normal in regards to the Star Wars EU?

Is that normal in regards to the Star Wars EU?
A lot of the EU is basically doing what the original trilogy did but with some other new shit. Here's some highlights that I could remember.

Palpatine could literally use the Force to destroy entire fleets. Seriously.

There was seriously such a thing as a "Lightwhip." Someone looked at a lightsaber and said "What if we combined that with an incredibly unwieldly, unsafe weapon?"

Leia becomes a Jedi and all of her children are Jedis. Also, one of her children ends up turning the Dark Side for some reason and shit like that. At least they didn't have the kid called Anakin turn to the Dark Side.

Don't forget about how Borba Fett crawls out of the sand monster and despite being shown as a thug that needed help in the movie, is apparently so badass and everyone else so dumb that he's the best. Or the time Luke fucked a computer program.

Most of the books were feces. Maybe three or four were pretty good, but again, that many v. dozens more that were garbage.

There's also something that's often forgotten about the EU: at least as far as the novels go, there were two distinct eras. The "classic era" published by Bantam and the New Jedi Order era published by Del Rey, who bought the rights around the time Episode I came out. The Del Rey era was much darker in tone than the Bantam era, with a level of gore and sex unseen in either the Bantam books or the films; the nadir is considered to be a scene in Legacy of the Force where a grown woman sexually tortures a teenage boy.

As a result, a lot of Bantam fans are okay with the reboot.

It's just like fanfiction: a lot of it is utter shit, and you have to dig through it to get to the good parts. Most of the post-movies EU is garbage. Some of the prequel books are pretty good though.

Yeah, this is something I never got - the EU always took characters who were just supposed to be supporting players and turned them into demi-gods. In the EU all the background aliens in the Cantina have a complete backstory. This is the point where it falls squarely into the category of fan fiction - I can imagine an autist on the internet producing stuff like that but not professional writers and artists.

To be honest, this kind of started bleeding into the movies as well. In the Original Trilogy, Darth Vader was just an advanced grunt who'd be brought in to clean up messes the lesser goons couldn't handle. The fact he was Luke's father made him a bit more special but essentially he was just Force-imbued muscle.

In the Prequels however, George made up all the prophecy bullshit that he was fated to bring balance to the Force and turned him into Space @Jesus. One of the things I liked about Rebels is that they portrayed his role in a manner more reminiscent of the original films.

Anyway, how popular is Star Wars and the Expanded Universe stuff over in Deutschland?
Rather popular! There are fan clubs, fan forums, fan bitchfights, fan conventions and all sorts of spergy drama. Heck, I myself was a major SW sperg when I was 18/19 - to the point of signing schoolwork with "Han Solo". What actually got me away from it all was the tiresome triteness of most EU material, most of all the Kevin J. Anderson crap. When I was hanging out in a bookstore where a friend of mine worked, I saw a dorky kid walk up to the counter and take out a HARDCOVER edition of the first Jedi Academy book. Seriously, hardcover: This kid was willing to spend extra money for having this snorefest in solid carton binding. This may well have been the moment when I told myself: Nah, this is getting all far too dorky, I'm outta here.

If so, he should have used some condoms.

Nah, I'm not going to translate it all. Please be understanding. This guy talks iiiiiinnn aaaaaa voooiiiicee wheeeeech saawwwnds liiiiike ADF aaaaftrrrr an aaaaanvilll fell on heeeees heeeeaaaad... aaaaaboout, liiiiike, Daaaaawwwth Vaaaaaaaaaaaadrrr n stuff... because he went to a horribly crappy unlicenced SW exhibition in Wolfsburg which he found AWESOME and COOL.

YouTube Comment:
To all foreigners: Be grateful that you dont understand what he says ;-) He graces this exhibition with "pure vigor" and subject-specific competence... ...what makes it even more painful hilarious. I laughed but cannot believe that this is real... Looks like a ride in a tunnel of horror on a funfair to me... and i bet its not authorized at all.
