Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

By the way, just checked this on Twitter - according to State Dept. leaks from the 23rd, only 26.000+ people had been evacuated from Afghanistan.

Which means for the dumbshit Ginger's and BlueAnon NPCs' claim of over 80,000 evacuated to hold water, we will have needed to have flown out more than 50,000 people in the last 48 hours.

Have any autists checked FlightAware or whatnot to see what planes have left Kabul, and if those numbers add up? Because I'm pressing X big time.
from general media reports, yesterday was supposedly pretty high traffic (prolly due to the Taliban deadline being issued the previous day), but today the media is reporting that flights have decreased dramatically (could have a lot to do with the Taliban currently controlling ALL of the entrances to the airport and refusing all afghans entry - they beat up a UN employee from India on his way to it, for example - with the NATO troops bunkered further in). so...yea, no way in hell is the '70..,.no wait 80K!!!!!' number even close to reality. more like half of that...at the utmost best.

This was covered earlier today. They're counting the people at the airport as evacuated.

Here's what FlightAware has for Kabul International Airport at the moment.

This doesn't exactly paint a picture of a massive airlift to me. Is it possible that military transports aren't being listed?

Hilary doesn't enjoy sex, she's just running out the clock on her skintomb until she can join the singularity.

I've actually been banned from two other threads for talking shit about US Democrats, I hope the mods don't see this.
Relax. You have to work very hard to get banned here. The mods and Null are very tolerant.

Good article by Victor Davis Hanson.

"Dross" is putting it politely. I'd say everything Joey has touched has turned to shit.

We'd better thank God this crisis isn't with the Russians. Otherwise, we might all be radioactive ash floating out of the sky.

Have studied some history. The only time I can determine the people in the White House were this clueless and this paralyzed was during the last two years of the Hoover Administration. Herbert Hoover doggedly refused to understand or care about the suffering Americans were going through, and he steadfastly refused to get any large-scale Federal assistance going. And we all remember what happened with the Bonus Army during the summer of 32.

While we're at it, what bigger vote of no confidence in a Vice President than to send her to Vietnam in the midst of this crisis. Surely the Vietnamese would understand if Harris stayed here and helped to work the crisis.

Bottom line: Have an incompetent President and an unwilling VP. Hate to say it, but we're really up shit creek right now.

To some up the arguments that I think you are saying.

HymanHive believes the Status Quo will assert itself once the media gets its pound of flesh.

Gehenna believes that things are too unstable and getting back to the status quo will be impossible.

I'm leaning with Gehenna because supply shortages are going to grind everything to a halt sooner rather than later.
FWIW i hope gehenna is correct, it's the more entertaining option.

And as for supply shortages? Caused by the extra logistics that Pfizer et al need to create a billion(!!!) jabs, plus boosters. (IMO)

EL CAJON, Calif. —
At least 24 students from the Cajon Valley Union School District in El Cajon and 16 parents are stranded in Afghanistan after taking a summer trip abroad.

They are among thousands of individuals waiting to leave the country amid political unrest caused by the U.S. military pullout after 20 years of occupation. The U.S. government is accelerating efforts to rescue Americans as the Taliban takes over the country.

Cajon Valley Supt. David Miyashiro told school district board members via text message Tuesday that he and other Cajon Valley staff met virtually with U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Bonsall) and his staff about the situation.

Miyashiro said that the families are on special visas for U.S. military service and that the Department of Defense considers them allies. He said that the district was able to provide information on the families and that government officials are working to locate the children and their families. He said he was encouraged by the assistance.

He said the missing students attend different schools in the 28-school district in eastern San Diego County.

Mike Serban, who heads the district’s Family and Children Engagement program, which works with the district’s many refugee families and provides interpreters, was the one who first got word about the students’ plight.

Miyashiro said Serban and others who work with the FACE program as interpreters and liaisons for families in the district heard last week from a family concerned its student would lose a seat in the classroom. Another family reached out with the same fear, then another.

He said that at that point, Serban reached out to Miyashiro and others to let them know there was an issue with many children attending Cajon Valley schools.

Jonathan Wilcox of Issa’s office wrote via email, “Congressman Issa and his staff are working diligently to determine the facts on the ground, any bureaucratic barriers that can be removed, and the best ways to help those stranded leave Afghanistan and return home safely. We won’t stop until we have answers and action.”

Cajon Valley School Board President Tamara Otero said the families had tickets to fly out of Afghanistan, “but unfortunately they were not able to get to the airport.”

“The biggest concern is that the Taliban closed the airport,” Otero said. “We are so worried about our students that are stuck there. We’ll do the best we can to get them out.”

Cajon Valley School Board member Jo Alegria said the students were in Afghanistan on summer vacation with their families. She said families of the students who are abroad reached out to the district to ask that it hold their places in their classrooms.

Alegria said the students and families were planning on being home for the school year that began Aug. 17 but were not able to get on their scheduled flights back to the U.S. She said the district was helping get proper documentation for the students to expedite their return home.

This seems like it might hit the criteria for public interest that Gehenna outlined in the last couple pages.

As much as I am a pessimist on certain things, I also generally agree with Gehanna on how things can't just go back to normal.

In Florida and South Dakota, the arguably most "normal" states when it comes to lockdown politics, the political climate is still absolute dogshit, with people at their necks for inches of ground under their blue or red banners. The genie will not go back into the bottle until we either have an imminent crisis so large we put aside our differences (like an invasion or nuclear war) or we have a president on the Democratic side to be their "Dubya" and break partisanship deadlocks with overwhelming awfulness. Biden is working up to that role, but he is not there yet. And even then, the former is still a bit sketchy because skepticism from previous major incidents like 9/11 and Coof may add to the divide.

The media cannot also manufacture "normalcy," as much as they want to. People are still masking outside, breaking any facade. Classroom mask mandates and vaccine mandates also add to it. No matter what they say, when you go outside, you are hit with 2021, not 2018. Not that the media would want to anyways. Their ratings are only propped up by crisis and their viewership wants nothing but to hear Democratic talking points of CNN and MSDNC. Take the fear adrenaline and virtuous dopamine away, and their viewership crumbles with them.

Not even covering the economy bomb just sitting in plain sight like the elephant in the room. The point is that this bullshit is not going away until the only side propping this bullshit up realizes that they've been scammed like in France and Austrailia demonstrations.

Will they? Who knows.

Two congressmen snuck into Kabul to assess the situation

Veterans and Reps. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., and Peter Meijer, R-Mich., traveled to Kabul "in secret" on Tuesday, drawing the ire of Biden administration officials.

The congressmen are now casting doubt on the Biden administration's planned Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline.

"As Members of Congress, we have a duty to provide oversight on the executive branch. There is no place in the world right now where oversight matters more," Moulton and Meijer said in a joint statement Tuesday.

The trip was criticized by an official with the U.S. State Department, who said of the congressmen: "They have chosen to put themselves, our servicemembers, and our diplomats at even greater risk — all while potentially depriving those in need of a seat to safety."

The Associated Press, which first reported on the travel, added that other Biden administration officials were "furious" about the trip.

Moulton and Meijer defended their travel to Afghanistan.

"We conducted this visit in secret, speaking about it only after our departure, to minimize the risk and disruption to the people on the ground, and because we were there to gather information, not to grandstand," their statement said. "We left on a plane with empty seats, seated in crew-only seats to ensure that nobody who needed a seat would lose one because of our presence."

The congressmen added: "After talking with commanders on the ground and seeing the situation here, it is obvious that because we started the evacuation so late, that no matter what we do, we won't get everyone out on time, even by September 11. Sadly and frustratingly, getting our people out depends on maintaining the current, bizarre relationship with the Taliban."

Earlier Tuesday, President Biden said the U.S. is on pace to leave by the Aug. 31 deadline.

The Taliban, which staged a forceful takeover of Afghanistan last week, have said they would not extend the U.S. grace beyond the end of August, and that if forces are still in the country beyond that date, there would be unspecified consequences.
Holy shit I know I'm late but this situation is actually turning Congressmen into actual men

This article makes it sound like these are kids of refugees from Afghanistan(?) You have to wonder how they decided it was ok to go to Afghanistan when we've been hearing about Taliban since May. Especially if they're in the US due to their refugee status.

And there's the punchline of this whole situation. The Left has no answer at all as to all the bruhaha foreign allies have had to say about how things were handled. "Oh the media is being unfair to Joe!" Uh-huh, I suppose you think the Brits are all now a bunch of fat Redneck MAGA supporters for holding that dumb sob in contempt.

I'm looking forward to someone calling Britain far-right because we have a conservative government in charge, despite our whole country being further left than America.
