The best part of his ignorantly likening himself with Jonah rather than Job is his legitimate likeness with Jonah.
God wanted Jonah to do something. Jonah didn't wanna. So he ran away. So far he ended up at what at that time would have been the end of the Earth. Then he got on a boat and shipped himself out to sea, just to get further away.
Eventually, the story ends with him overboard and inside a whale. Literally the worst possible scenario. Because he kept running away.
This must indicate Phil was caught off guard. You can especially tell by the state of his hair. The only other time I can remember his hair looking like this was the "Incident".
