Because if the UK blocks a site directly, it looks tyrannical. But if they force the site to change under 'safety' laws, they can blame the platform for noncompliance and justify harsher actions later both legally and publicly to protect 'muh children'.Why don't they just block offending websites themselves? This seems like a backwards way to go about it.
Hmm, very CCP, very we have plans to move the goal posts, very we'll wait for a reason. In view of the above, although we are not issuing an information notice at this time, we may revisit
this matter in future, taking account of any relevant evidence (including about whether your service
is in scope).
The purpose of the Act is to protect UK users of internet services from content that is illegal in the
UK or potentially harmful to UK children.
Nool have you considered asking Ofcom what collaborating with them would actually mean in terms of changes to the site?
It'd be pretty funny for them to plainly write out what draconian things they might want
From OFCOM, or Null? I'd say being them able to intimidate him into not letting UK residents access the site (with the cope that "it's for their own safety") is not the win he's trying to spin it as.
We kicked their ass in a war over that right. It is an American company's right to not be subject to UK laws.
Isn't that already their official government policy, though?Flood the UK with chimps.
What policy?Isn't that already their official government policy, though?
This is exactly the sort of language they use for the bullshit threats about the TV licence.we have decided not to proceed with issuing an information
notice requesting a copy of the written record of the illegal content risk assessment conducted in
respect of Kiwi Farms at this time.
But we might do in the future so don’t do anything naughty! In view of the above, although we are not issuing an information notice at this time, we may revisit
this matter in future, taking account of any relevant evidence (including about whether your service
is in scope).
We shall overtake the Britfags and force them all to go to a dentist
This is exactly the sort of language they use for the bullshit threats about the TV licence.
We COULD proceed and do terrible things but we’ve decided not to
But we might do in the future so don’t do anything naughty!
I despise our ruling caste, and their quangos.
Wild that Ofcom won't go after groomcord and reddit for child safety. Those would have been clamped down on hard - banned even, years ago if they actually gave a damn. Cabal protected paedophiles.
Ever heard the term perfidious Albion?Anyone else think the brits are kinda faggots?
The TV loicense shit is so funny. I literally know no one that pays it, you'd have to be a complete retard to fall for it. Do people really think the BBC will send it's Jimmy Savile task force to kick down your door because you watch Match of the Day?Congratulations you literally complied, yeah it's a halfassed concession but it's a submission all the same, you were cowed by a single snarky email, one e-letter from a britgov department achieved more than sammy smith ever did well done.
I have drawer in my kitchen where I collect TV loicense demand letters, they send one every other month or so, they rotate in tone between "didunt chu knuw yu neeeeed a teevee loicense?" to "ARE INSPECTAHS R COMIN 4 U!", nothing every happens because words are meaningless in our anarcho-tyrannical system.
I can appreciate the logic behind "user protection" because everyone should be using a VPN; especially vulnerable localities like bongoloids, but anyone framing this as a proud stand is deluded.
