A safe way to transport a machete (or any knifes altogether) would be putting it in a holster, covering it up with additional fabric (like a large cotton bag), taping it shut and carrying it in an nontransparent bag (like a backpack). You most likely wouldn't get in trouble with it anywhere in the world since it's not openly visible, not able to hurt anyone accidentally and not easily accessible either.
But this is still Phil, someone who makes death threats and talks about his justice fantasies on daily basis. Carrying a machete anywhere, no matter how safely it's stored, without a rational application for it as a gardening tool, will never be a good idea for him, especially since he's probably featured on several "potentially violent" lists and is known for starting shit.

i've been asked to sell this in my store alongside other Gerber merchandise and i declined. it isn't a quality product in the least, and my customers expect better:
1. it's an okay design, saw backs are vaguely useful for sawing saplings or twigs or something in a forest for camping.
2. the materials aren't up to snuff, it's largely unhardened steel alloy, (very) partial tang, and simple nylon handle with no reinforcement for serious chopping or anything beyond a peg and rivets holding the blade in place.
3. the blade doesn't take an edge at all because it lacks significant carbon, and is very soft. it's also thin, and bends easily, yet snaps under pressure making me think it has significant nickel or zinc.
4. it's worth maybe $10 USD for funsies in the backyard or at a managed campsite chopping up a cardboard box or clearing bushes, yet is advertised under brand recognition to the uninformed.
5. the stamped steel machete i picked up in costa rica in the mid 90's is a better tool/weapon and it was free in exchange for helping clear some vegetation. it's just ugly as sin.
why am i not surprised Phil wants one?

I know this thread is a little old, but I just wanted to highlight Phil's lack of common sense, foresight, and irresponsibility with money. Here is the machete that Phil wants at my local Walmart. Check out the price compared to Phil's link.
Nearly half the price. So not only is Phil lousy with money, and not only is he trying to mooch off his friends, but he's mooching without even trying to find a reasonable price and instead is just wasting his friends' money. Yes we all know Phil has no understanding of the value of money, but he's also incredibly inconsiderate to his friends while being selfish and moochy.

Ok, you can buy machetes in normal supermarkets in America?

Walmart isn't just a supermarket (which is usually what we call large grocery stores who are part of a chain of stores owned by a corporation). It's kind of an all-in-one department store, grocery, sporting goods (including knives, firearms, and hunting equipment), and many even have automotive departments that sell and install tires, oil changes, and other light automobile maintenance. So while, yes, it is a supermarket, it really is more than that since "supermarket" just means grocery store in the American vernacular.
