Careercow Adam Sessler - Former G4 Host, Possibly a Coke Addict, Zoe Quinn Orbiter, Increasingly Irrelevant Cuck

That is very interesting indeed, especially about Webb hating Quinn for getting Sessler hooked on drugs. Not that I don't believe you, it certainly sounds right, but did you get this information from an insider or was this just the rumor back in the day?

The information comes from insider leaks that came out during Gamergate. The leaker in question said that while working with Adam on X-Play, Morgan became close friends with Adam's wife and that her friendship with Adam's wife is why Morgan still stays in touch with him, since Sessler burnt nearly all of his bridges with his G4 coworkers towards the end of his time there.

They also brought up the Zoe/Morgan hate when asking why Morgan was completely MIA during Gamergate. Morgan basically blames Zoe for enabling Adam's drug addiction issues as far as her being the Andie Dick to Adam's (insert person who Andy Dick nagged into doing drugs with him and ultimately leading to their death). Morgan is said to believe that Zoe only cared about Adam in so far as using his name and connections to further her career and exploited Adam's drug addiction issues/desire to be among the "cool kids" to do so. The fact that Morgan is close to Adam's wife and kids, added to her hate for Zoe since if Adam dies of a drug OD, that Zoe would laugh it off and not care what happened to Adam's wife and family once he died.

Man, it's almost like a Sessler OD would be the best for everyone. A miserable, irredeemable bastard gets his just rewards. Morgan Webb might go public about what a despicable piece of garbage Zoe Quinn is. Zoe herself has another body on her conscience, maybe leading to her finally doing herself in.

Anybody have some extra fentynal we could send over to San Francisco?

Sessler had enough good qualities he was kept on throughout several iterations and changes over the years and never did anything too cringey. In fact he was just kinda okay not great but not horrible either. mundane.

Another postscript to the G4-Frosk-Sessler Sealclap. It looks like Jeremy at G&G actually produced a video that wasn't just a lazy rehash of a pop culture outrage item that someone else did the legwork on.

Apparently the "Tell em, massa!!" cornball brother is *drumroll* a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to the fairer sex.

Speaking of Frosk, did you hear that she purged all her tweets on Twitter? And why isn't there a lolcow thread on Frosk?

There isn't anything deep about Sessler. He's a bitter cunt who's life is nothing but a series of failures.

GameSpot TV/Extended Play was the lowest performing show on ZDTV. Sessler was known, but he wasn't popular.

The ratings didn't improve until it was revamped to XPlay. The rating boost was short lived.

When G4 took over, XPlay wasn't given any real attention. It pulled in just enough to not get cut, but not enough to put any real effort into.

Sessler knew he was going to be fired, he just didn't know when. Apparently he was notified on-air.

Kotaku Sessler article

Sessler went to Rev3; only to part ways not long after. The Medium article blows smoke up Sessler's ass but the reality is few people watched Rev3 and Sessler wasn't a name that resonated with younger gamers.

TL;DR Sessler is a fail to launch has been who's mad that gamers didn't give him the LA dream

Never fails, the nerd who gets bullied becomes an SJW gamma male bully online.

People would bully and harass him. One guy, Sessler recalls, used to wear a ring with a Cadillac logo. “They thought it was really funny when they’d punch me in the shoulder just to see what the imprint would look like afterwards,” he said. (It looked like a Cadillac logo.)

The guy has always had a punch-me face. They say you end up with the face you deserve. In his case it's the opposite: he ended up with the personality his face deserves.

Sessler’s problem is he wants to be taken seriously, and thinks vidya is serious fuckin’ business or some shit. He’d be fine if he just accepted his place is to be a goofball, and games are toys.
I remember there was a G4 quick like 15 second spot where Morgan and Adam separately talked about the set revisions toward the end of the series. And if I remember Adam talked about the last set or second to last and how it was always what "they had envisioned for the show" Ya know the one where they had panels on "hot topics", esteemed interviews and it was a bunch of news and the whole thing wasnt fun anymore? It was strange to me because in my mind the core X-Play was always sorta edgy humor, not taking it easy on devs or trends and kinda just finding a way to be honest and funny even if sometimes the funny didnt land. It was never about being taken super seriously in the industry. Cause lord knows there was plenty of that in the magazine sphere. And with the advent of the internet, no one wanted something so dry.

I certainly do buy as time went on he wanted to be taken more seriously among peers he was trying to get in good with. Maybe he thought this was gonna extend his career in games I have no clue. It certainly is telling when you look at him and X-Play today as a product. When I was a kid, and even today, when I see someone review a video game, I want a bit of comedy and lightheartedness in it. I dont want em to pull punches and certainly dont want corpo knee bending. Which is exactly what happened with G4 because they werent like TechTV or ZDTV, they werent nerds and geeks making TV they wanted to see funded by big money, they were a corpo TV network with a lot more rules and without any of the faith in the shows or hosts.

The fucking thing that told me that shit was downhill, and I cant remember the ep but its on youtube somewhere is their "Negative Stereotypes in video games" segment which started with Latinos. How theyre often portrayed in a bad light ect ect. And one of their examples was from GTA SA saying how they shouldnt be portrayed as gang bangers and drug users and such even though....Thats exactly how it was in South Central in the Early 90s. It wasnt thinking about the context in which half of these characters are made, it was flowery bullshit to go "Latinos should be represented in a more positive light". It was the first time I really raised a brow at a segment, this was shortly after G4 got em.

The funny thing is, Nick Robinson from Rev3 is infinitely more popular and watchable then Adam despite a much shorter career in media. All he has to do is talk about Dominos Hatsune Miku, Rare video games, Super Monkey Ball and go to Japan. Adam couldnt compete if he actually fuckin tried.

X-Play was actually very popular/G4's flagship show. Even with Olivia Munn's cosplay stuff, in the late 00s, X-Play was the show everyone talked about online, not AOTS.

Which was a problem because AOTS was supposed to be the flagship show.

It's why X-Play suddenly became a serious news show and why you AOTS suddenly had a bunch of silly sketches. The suits came to the opinion that people liked X-Play more because of the sketches and so it was decided to make AOTS be the only show allowed to be sketches and X-Play made to do serious gaming news, on the belief that fans would watch AOTS to get their gaming comedy instead.

The whole thing backfired though, in part because AOTS didn't have hosts with good chemistry to pull off the comedy stuff like Webb and Sessler.

AOTS continued to struggle and fail ratings-wise and the new X-Play format failed to catch on, especially as Sessler's ego grew more and more out of control to the point they cut bait with him.

Adam then hosted the show on his own till April 2003, when the show became X-play. It should be noted that I remember this era relatively well, and it was a far cry from what the show ultimately became; it was down to Earth, there were no cringy skits or sophomoric humor, the gratuitous swearing and stupid levels of edginess were nonexistent,
It's actually for this reason why I vastly preferred Extended Play and stopped watching X-Play after a while.
