Alan Wake II - The highly anticipated sequel that no one cared about to a game from 2010 that no one cared about

I don't know if I believe that. Soyderman 2 literally has missions where you play as a deaf nigger girl spraying graffiti and a mission where you collect shit for a "BIPOC artsist" museum and that shit sold something stupid like four million copies in it's first week despite being probably one of the wokest games ever made.
No one cares about those missions though. Even the people that don't roll their eyes when they see them just don't give a shit. I'd say it's all about balance and subtlety and those are the two things that groups like Sweet Baby inc don't care about.
In the 2018 Spider-man we had about 85% of fun Spider-man action and 15% of poz. With this new one we're probably at 60% Spider-man and 40% poz. Eventually the Disney fatigue will set in once the poz consumes the majority of these games. The videogame industry will implode one way or the other. It's only a matter of time.

The industry has already exploded wdym, the console wars failing, game journos being scum, a literal corpo designed to spread game aids everywhere.
The only thing even surviving are indie games, and that's barely.

And even then when they hit mainstream it gets flooded with so many pozloads it dies. Just look at Larian/Harebrained Schmes/The Devs at Deus Ex/Bioware/etc etc
The only reason it's not dying is because gamers are retards. But this is akin to dumbasses using their hands to cup water out of a sinking ship instead of abandoning it or fixing the fucking hole. So who gives a shit. Another IP dies. Oh no.

Though here you can point to the fact that Valve sacked the original VA for Alyx in HL:A because "she wasn't of the true ethnic background of the character", just to show that even Valve isn't clean on this matter.
Source on this? Is it from HLA Final Hours which I haven't gotten around to reading yet? Merle Dandridge is half japanese half african american, just like Alyx Vance. They even had her voice the character until near the end of development when they re-cast her under the excuse of wanting a 'younger voice', or at least that's what I remember from the time. I can't find anything about 'true ethnic background of the character' at all, but even then, Merle Dandridge is literally the true ethnic background of the character.

I don't remember any woke shit in HLA, maybe I have to play it again.

Looking at the credits for Nu-Alyx does seem a bit fishy however.

This actress is fully black, not half asian.

“Dead Island had a black male protagonist much like Left 4 Dead.”

No, Purna is black. Aboriginals consider themselves black (that’s why they copied black movements from the 60s/70s), and are called/seen as black in Australia. I believe Purna is Aboriginal.

There’s literally only one white person that’s playable in Dead Island, and nobody cared because the industry wasn’t huffing racist divisive politics yet. There’s been plenty of black female characters, non-white male characters in general, for decades.

They tell this lie so they can use it as an excuse to subvert, and it’s tired bullshit.

Yeah and that's the crux of it all. They had the same actress that played Alyx back in HL2, they did work with her, and then suddenly they've decided "fuck it, change it for the nigress". It makes no logical sense besides some stupid tokenism.

And those credits are definitely fishy. Saints Row reboot? Goodbye Volcano High? Sounds like a goddamn cuckoo egg of an actress.

More like "because it wasn't done to then force feed the players the idea that whitey = bad". No one had issues with casts that were mostly black or Asian because they weren't written for that to be the only character trait. Then all the leftist bullshit went in and had to do DPRK level of indoctrination to make sure that even the biggest mongoloid understands that whitey = bad.

The original was overhyped to hell, I had a friend who bought an X360 just to play it because he was a huge Remedy fan, and while it was cool at first it got boring fast, the ending was a total cliffhanger for the sequel which is ironic since it didn't sell enough to get a sequel back then.
And it's an Epic Games Store exclusive.
How to make an unpopular game unsellable...

I remember being hyped for Alan Wake 1, and then it took like 5 years (which was an eternity back then) and like 3 months before release they admitted they scrapped the whole open world aspect (originally it sounded a lot more like Deadly Premonition, thank god I found that *after* Alan Wake) and then I realized it was releasing the same week as Red Dead Redemption and well...I didn't play Alan Wake until it was on discount on Steam which I think was years later.

It was alright. I'd have played an Alan Wake 2 that wasn't current year nigger woke nonsense tbqh, but the original wasn't some amazing game by any means.

ive been playing the game. its been decent so far. you complain about black female protagonist but i dont care about that kind of shit. couldve been anyone playing the role and it wouldnt change anything. i think more people here are upset its not action horror like the first game was and that its trying to do survival horror instead.

They also rewrote her bio in the remaster to make her more [current year].

Jesus Christ. And when you play the game, not a drop of that is necessary.

I thought about Alan Wake the other week, I remember liking the first one, didn’t care about American Nightmare. It’s like they didn’t know what to do after the first one, and I don’t know why.

I still remember when the original game had her special ability be called "Feminist Cunt" or something along those lines internally in the game's code. The studio had to apologize like little bitches for "unprofessional behavior", I am guessing this is them backpedalling on that

The industry is dying but it's not dead yet. The beast will truly be dead when people stop paying for game pass and AAA games in general. I can't wait for this to happen.
The same retards that pay for Netflix are the same retards that think it's a good idea to pay publishers for access to games. They're the same retards that cry about something being "gone" from a streaming service as if they can't pirate it or buy the DVDs.

This made me miss the good old days when devs wouldn't waste eons making a single game.

Both Netflix and Disney+ sank hard as I recall. Trends among consumers do change. It just takes take because consumers are retarded.

Probably like once a month, I'll be driving in my truck and remember that Rockstar used to be able to release at least one game a year, sometimes multiple games, and now with their 10+ studios they can't manage to get one out in less than....6 years now?

Not that this is related to Alan Wake 2, but most of the thread isn't anyways:

Netflix's user counts stagnated in 2021-22. They have been growing since, and were bolstered by them limiting account sharing. Netflix's share price dropped from a peak in 2020-21 into a large slump, but rallied to around what it was in 18-19. It's doing fine.

Disney Plus is on a very slight decline from 2022 heights, which coincides with Netflix's stagnation period. Whether this is a decline or simply stabilization is obviously unclear for a service that's barely four years old. Disney's shares are also a bad measure for D+ specifically.
However, they just spent $8.6B on Comcast's slice of Hulu, which was a service they were already effectively operating. I think they're doing fine.

Well that sucks.

I think those numbers will start to drop again since they announced that they "will no longer pursue original ideas by filmmakers who care about making a movie." More and more people will start turning to piracy now that they've increased their prices.

Disney is right in front of the "anti-woke" hate train that continues to grow over time. Their future depends on how people were pissed off by the recent Marvel sequels and the live-action remakes of their animated films. If mainstream audiences were truly capable of supporting these shitty corporations forever, then this "instability" wouldn't emerge. Such radical changes in their revenue is the result of frustration building up for the average consumer.
