Apparently Anon posted in a FB group for father's rights asking about getting a lawyer for his nephew from Florida who had a baby with a 100% disabled girl in Chicago. Sounded like Noah's family might be going for full custody but the screens were deleted before I got there

Can you imagine Alex trying to stage the perfect mum and bub photo shoot, only to have Ari projectile vomit all over her? I can.

In my experience, the colic usually started after the newborn sleepy stage though. Is it a thing for babies to come home from the NICU and start tearing shit up with the screaming right away?

I think you’re right that it’s been a balancing act of competing needs since they got Ari home. Can’t clean up Alex’s ruined clothes from a diaper blowout AND clean up the baby simultaneously. Can’t feed Ari and then sit in the rocking chair for the ensuing contact nap AND take Alex to the toilet. I imagine the apartment smells of sour day-old formula shits and lochia.

Man, this got depressing fast.

We all have known that one carer is not sufficient for two infants especially when one is in their 20's. We've also known that Alex is toxic. She's said so herself. That includes being toxic to the carer as well as Noah(I really hope Ari is exempt).

It's only a matter of time until the carer burns out and fucks off. What then? Will Noah step up?

I don't know about the uncle post, it's awfully convenient for reddit, but the parts about Alex and Noah's relationship ring true. If Noah dips out now he'd never get custody and I can totally see Alex using their child to control him.

This will all go very badly if they don't find someone full time for just Ari. Even then the second carer isn't going to live with them which means overnight is on Noah. That's a LOT of responsibility and hard work.

It actually makes a lot of sense for Noah to get his parents involved in caring for Ari especially since presumably Alex's parents are remaining hands off. I just don't see how Noah can do it, even with carers.

The best thing for all 3 of them would be to move in with either of their parents. Taking in Alex means assuming care for her also or at the least making room in their lives for her AND a carer.

The lack of current posts does not bode well for their situation. How could they possibly afford 2 carers? Or even the one? Noah is perpetually unemployed. Alex can't be making a living from social media. So all 4 of the are most likely living off the kind benefaction of Alex's parents(Alex, Ari, Noah, and Nina's wage). Somethings gotta give.

Will Alex's parents accept Noah and Ari into their situation? Will Noah's? Cps has already been involved peripherally which means that the threshold for intervention has been lowered, crying wolf or not.

It makes sense for Noah's mom to seek custody even though it'll never happen unless Alex fucks up royally.

What sucks most is that Ari will end up a pawn in Alex's narcissistic codependent machinations. I'm not finding it easy to be optimistic at this point.

That's a nice theory and I wouldn't blame his family if they'd reached the end of their patience with his career of partying and drug abuse and told him to fuck off forever... but unfortunately there's a tiny, fragile bub that's just been dropped in the whole mess. There is only a paid, burnt out carer standing between Ari's death from either utter neglect or being violently shaken by a sleep deprived, psychotic BPD drug addict.

Many people do straighten themselves out when they have a kid... but people with personality disorders and/or a refusal to get their mental illnesses treated don't. The amount of depressed, autistic women who can't even take care of themselves or so much as tolerate the sound of car traffic going by their house who have told me that their depression would be cured if they could just have a baby of their own is mind blowing. Pointing out that they can't even look after a damn cat or work a fulltime job, there was no way in hell they could care for a colicky baby with zero sleep for six months invariably results in offense and cries of eugenics, and utterly no self reflection or acknowledgement that childcare is brutal even on the well adjusted and hale. IVF is frequently mentioned; I've been seeing increasing numbers of women inquiring if they can access IVF treatment on the NDIS and it's honestly terrifying how bad the lack of self-awareness amongst them is, and how many other women leave supportive and reassuring comments instead of, "You're on the disability pension and a shitton of medications, you have no partner and live in a sharehouse, the fuck is wrong with you?"

I've sharehoused with several BPD women over the course of my career, they're a complete nightmare. If you gave me an ultimatum and told me that I could either live with a narc or a BPD, I'd honestly throw my toothbrush and a clean pair of knickers in a shopping bag and go sleep under a bridge for the rest of my miserable life.

People with broken brains should never, ever have children. I mean, I don't entirely hate the fact that I'm alive, but if I could go back in time to when my father was just about to knock up his first girlfriend, I'd smack him in the mouth and tell him to go get a bloody vasectomy.

Sorry if it comes across this way, but I'm honestly not blaming one more than the other here. Alex has probably been looking for some man stupid enough to go undressed for the occasion for a very long time, and like any classic narc, she never once considered that the resulting baby would be... well, a baby, and eventually a child, and finally its own person. She thought she would get a biddable doll to pose with, and narcs are always shocked when this is not the case. Her parents should have arranged a hysterectomy as soon as she turned eighteen, and made it clear that they'd draw financial support if she didn't go through with it.

As for Noah, I have no desire to 'save' the stupid prick. I know that BPD people generally calm down as they get older, but not a single one should ever breed ever. They are an unbelievable nightmare even if you're an adult; a child raised by one is going to have a horrendous life. Even if the BPD manages to stop themselves from physically abusing their child, the sudden, violent temper tantrums, the black depressive spells, the absolute lack of sexual boundaries and the resulting predators that invariably come sniffing around, the chronic inability to hold long term employment or manage their finances, the strong tendency towards drug abuse... it's an utterly miserable way to be raised.

If Noah's family had any wits, they'd take legal custody of little Ari, get Noah snipped, and throw him into the army or merchant marines and tell him not to come home for the next twenty years.

Raising a severely disabled, high medical needs child destroys a lot of parents and guardians, especially when that child grows into a narcissistic adult. Narcs also get a kick out of using their children as weapons; she may be using her parents' desire for a relationship with their granddaughter against them and controlling their access to her.
