I think it comes down to what Barbarella said, in that Alex has to be the one right now to do right by her daughter (and she absolutely will not) because she is the only person with any legal standing in Ari’s life. Noah has no established paternity so the Smiths don’t even have a grandparent leg to stand on. They know, and Alex certainly knows, there is nothing they can do at the moment to keep Ari in their house that won’t end in Alex immediately reporting it and having Ari returned to her. I’m sure Alex managed to stay with them as long as she did by dangling this fact in their faces on the regular. If she goes, so does all access they have to their granddaughter. It’s the disgusting truth of terrible people like Alex, they would rather use their children as pawns in their shit show games than keep them safe.

not used too. Nothing dangerous or bad, just new. It was obvios they were anxious, just the way they couldn't sleep, just twirling the little hands and moving the feet through the night and having a massive need to be close.
Again, it doesn't have to be bad in any way, but the way kids react to big changes, even for a extremly limited time is noticeable when you know your child and pay attention.

I think her main motivation was sticking it to Elise and it obviously worked, reading her crackhead rants trying to convince Mrs. Smith to kick her out was really something. I think Alex thought she could bring Noah home and be a big happy family again with his parents as guardrails. Once she knew his ex was watching her onlyfans she probably couldn’t get that plane ticket fast enough.
I checked out Broward County Court Clerk's page to see if there was any information on the latest DV case.
It was filed on June 5th, and it seems that the Prosecutor is yet to file the case. He may yet be lucky and not catch charges.

A thought: in my state, if you apply for government services, and there's a kid involved, the state is establishing paternity and going after the father. Not just child support, but food stamps, likely health insurance, basically if her father would normally be expected to pay for it the state is gonna try to make him, and that means establishing who "he" is. She can't just keep pretending Ari was immaculately conceived.

The birth certificate would give Noah equal footing, legally speaking. A leg up if he played his cards right, despite his crackhead ways he could clean up () and argue Ari is better off with him and his family than with a new caregiver every other week. Alex only gets things mostly on her terms because he’s not on the birth certificate.
