People were praising Debbie for the most recent episode, not to mention I've seen plenty of fans of Eve, Rae and the rest of the notable female characters so it's definitely not a sexism thing.

Debbie has been one of the biggest improvements over the comic and the fact that people are specifically praising her for pushing back against Nolan's poor attempt at apologizing really hammers in how dumb that person was.

meh
they're tying too much of nolan's humanity to debbie instead of his relationship with his family as a whole

They had the opportunity to do something there by having Nolan bring up how his parents were before they died, and how that was literal ages ago. His idea of a good father was a man who nearly beat his ass to death and congratulated him for actually hurting him while he did it before telling him to walk it off. Maybe have him bring it up to Oliver to make him not feel like the only alien among humans.

Except we get more flashbacks about muh sex pasta.

I do agree with that, him avoiding Oliver was a really weird choice but that seems to be a recurring issue with Oliver in the cartoon. Everything with him feels way less fleshed out and things resolve way too quickly, so I'm sure next episode will speedrun Oliver getting over Nolan being a crap dad.

Show Oliver is a completely different character than literal bug boy/man Oliver who really didn't understand humans because, to a short-lived hive race, they're fucking insane and appear to be killing each other over nothing. There is no way the next arc can be done with Oliver the way he is now unless they change everything.

The wildest thing is they were doing that and then wrapped it up in the very next episode, so I guess that's just one of the things Kirkman felt he needed to "fix."
Lord forbid the aliens be aliens, however gross hilarious and memeable

"I FOUGHT CONQUEST" is the funniest shit to me, but I kinda get it from Oliver's perspective as he's a literal child.
But bro did not fight Conquest, bro survived Conquest.

for me, it's tards thinking eve getting immediately bodied, giving conquest an inconvenience at best at her absolute strongest, and laying naked while mark bashes his head in with his own was somehow eve's win

She's as useless as Oliver.

But I suppose the real disappointment was Fem Jacket, but the real Tech Jacket couldn't do shit to real Viltrumites and had to blow himself the fuck up to kill two Marks.

- I think Oliver's a bit more useful than Eve (at least preteen years) because (despite very little training, being less than six months old, and only just getting his powers) he still wzs able to land a punch. Plus, he was actually helping out in the Invincible War against multiple Mark variants. Sure, he needed the help of other heroes, but he was able to takedown a weaker variant. Eve was oneshotted by OmniMark, came into the Conquest fight with no plan-all bullshit, and had to literally die to help in anyway. I feel the issue comes back to powerscaling. We never see the main characters train, get stronger, and square off against greater foes. This makes it seem like they stagnate in ability/strength despite months passing by & diminishes the value of future confrontations. Oliver isn't useless, he's underutilized. Honestly, most of thr hero cast is.

- I agree with the "he should be more alien" sentiment. I don't like the infinite text writing style of Kirkman, but I think it would make sense to show Oliver's more Thraxanlike mindset. Like, sure he'll nod along to Mark & Debbie's "killing bad" ideas, but having more scenes with him struggling because it's foreign to him would be good. Him outgrowing his friends (mentally & physically) & dealing with that. I do like him more in the show, but I wouldn't think this would detract from his character type. A theme of nature v nurture where Oliver struggles with his natural inclinations v his loving upbringing (since show-Debbie is more "Mom #2" than "Mother"). I feel this way about Mark, to a lesser degree, too. That would do great in a better written, more character driven show. Shame.

If Kirkman used more than 4% of his brain to "better revamp" Invincible, the show could actually go from mediocre to one of the best of a modern era.

It's funny how they try to make Eve's dad out as some bad guy but literally everything he's said since his first appearance has been right, honest, and consistent. Even more hilarious is how they try to paint this as a bad thing when they at least tried to lend some credence to him with Eve naively creating shit over a sinkhole. If people are supposed to hate him just because he sounds like an asshole, almost everyone in this cast would be on all viewers' shit list.

To be fair, if you were someone that was consistently right about everything, and had sensible advice, BUT you were an insufferable fucking dickhead about it…people may respect you, maybe even agree with you, but they would never like you or wanna be around you.
The hatred of Adam from anyone with a brain is not because the stuff he says is wrong, it’s because he’s just fucking insufferable to listen to whenever he opens his mouth.

It’s just the opposite trope of the useless, yet ultimately likable male character, Paul.

really liked the interaction between Nolan and the costumer guy (forget his name) "I... Only dress heroes, Nolan." and then we see him hyperventilating in terror after he leaves.
They left it ambiguous how much Nolan is intentionally fucking with him vs him legitimately being too dense to comprehend what that conversation is like from the other guy's perspective. Or just not even caring.

They gave him all the traits of a cliche mutant-o-phobic X-Men parent whether or not they make sense. If were just a controlling and abusive father, he'd be exploiting Eve's powers. If he were terrified of supers, he wouldn't let Mark into his home and insult him. He's an abrasive dick ALL the time, even though he passed up a life of ease because he thought it would make his daughter better off.

He really just does whatever will upset Eve, no matter the personal cost. That's very funny and based, but he's not a believable character.

I hope they skip the Dinosaurus and Time Travel arc.
There's a lot of stuff I was wishing they'd change. But some of the comic stuff is way better in the show, and the biggest show-only thing (the hell episode) sucked, so now I don't know what to think. tbh, this is the point in the comic where everything starts to blur together in my mind. A lot of the later arcs seem to go on FOREVER and not much comes out of them but a bunch of dead no-names. The only particular thing I'm looking forward to is the Old Guardians beating the shit out of Omni-Man.

He's not even being a dick. He's just being standoffish and authoritative. Immortal yelling at his team because they had reasonable doubts was being a dick, Rex cheating on Eve with Kate was being a dick, Kate acting like she did nothing wrong while making everyone believe she was dead was being a dick, Cecil going from telling Mark he's like his dad to telling him he's not like his dad to manipulate him was being a dick, MultiPaul not caring he tried to kill Rex over something that didn't happen was being a dick, Rockman constantly playing the victim as a murderer and criminal is being a nigger dick, and Amber being mad at Mark he never told her something she already knew that could put her in danger because he prioritized something bigger than her was also being a dick.

You either have issues with your dad or you haven't gotten over it by now if you really think anything he's said or done is near as bad as almost everyone we're supposed to accept is somehow a moral person. Losing your job to superhero shenanigans, having your daughter nearly die to them time and time again, and the only real ability you have to do anything about it is for once in your life having your super power daughter listen to you would embitter anyone to that bullshit. Worst part of this being she isn't even his kid since she died in childbirth, and he doesn't know that, but do you really think she or anyone is ever going to tell them?

The mole that they've been hyping up for seasons was literally a no-name character we've never met before the literal minute he was introduced in?

Random reddit comment:

"How could you?!" Skinee shoots Thikkum in the head and exploded his brains out, but thanks to their physiology, this isn't a very serious injury and he was only stunned.

same as in the comics
it should've been ms girl boss this time
just to make her complete 180 from her comic counterpart have some sort of pay off besides virtue signaling

The real disgrace is definitely Femjacket though. Her entire screen time in space has been getting saved by someone else. Maybe they'll turn it around in the final fight with her using the toxic blasts the actual Tech Jacket had in the comics, but I doubt it.
insert jokes about accurate female uselessness you'd expect from me here
