Weight loss surgery would be a coin flip between a death sentence or a "wow, it's fucking nothing". I've had a handful of acquaintances over the years that have undergone the gastric sleeve procedure and not a single one lost a significant amount of weight in the long run. As many here have said already she needs to address the underlying mental and emotional issues that cause her to overeat. The feeling of fullness has never stopped her from gorging on massive quantities of food before, so what does she think WLS is going to accomplish, aside from running the added risk of ripping her insides apart?

Also, if getting approved for WLS were as easy as throwing down some cash, crying to a therapist once or twice, and taking a dirty post-binge shit then she would have already been on that table getting mutilated. Then again her track record for following through on literally anything she sets out to do is abysmal so maybe not.

She likely was given light sedation, i.e. "twilight sleep", in addition to the epidural so she wasn't aware during surgery.

I believe this is where the 1800 calorie a day diet is coming from. She's counted calories before, but I've never seen her give herself such a low number. I think it's the surgeon's diet that she's been put on. He/she will operate IF fatty loses X amount of weight, so in Amber's mind, it's as good as scheduled. As we saw yesterday, she couldn't even make Day 1 successful. There's a lot of hurdles to overcome before approval.

It's not. Any adhesions to the bowel would just be separated during a gastric bypass. With VSG, they don't even go down that low for the procedure. The stomach is behind the left rib. A fatty liver will definitely delay any prospective surgery though, and guaranteed ALRs will be human foie gras. Things like sleep aponea aren't an issue either, but it must be being adequately managed. Wrecked gall bladders are also commonly removed during WLS. Bariatric surgeons expect health issues like sleep aponea, hypertension, diabetes, hernias etc. They are part and parcel of the lives of the morbidly obese. Surgeons will just want clearances from the respective specialist managing any of these kinds of conditions.

In ALR'S case, she claims she's done the information seminar, which I don't doubt. She hasn't even seen a bariatric doctor yet, let alone a bariatric surgeon at this new practice she using. I remembered this morning that this will be her third attempt at getting WLS. She saw a bariatric surgeon in Lexington while living at the fag shanty...that didn't turn out well because it was all frozen meals and no broccoli. Then she saw another recently...that didn't turn out well as she failed the pysch evaluation. Now she's on number three. I wonder if she's headed to the one Tammy Slaton is seeing. While they mentioned he's in Lexington, the only bariatric surgeon with the surname of Smith that I could find, was in Georgetown (only 13 miles away).

She gave herself an out and didn't commit to uploading a video every day, but said some videos may cover multiple days, and she's probably not going to lose every day because she wants to be "honest" in "documenting" her "journey."

She said she had to sit down and do the hundreds of pysch questions, which were later marked. Then stated she had to wait for the results, and when the call came a few days later, was told she'd need extensive therapy (as in years...not just a few sessions) to sort out all her issues before she'd be ready for WLS. That's a fail of the pysch assessment to me. A psych assessment isn't therapy, it's just an assessment that tests readiness to mentally handle the challenges surgery brings, a check for any ED behaviours that might cause issues, as well as assessing whether a patient has realistic expectations of surgery. The assessments are actually pretty easy to fake your way through if you've done your research and have the ability to colour between the lines...if you know what I mean. Some bariatric centres will have you sit down for a chat with a pysch, some run you through the questionnaire, others don't even do pysch assessments unless a concern is raised along the way by one of the centre staff.

Exactly. We know amber cycles but never normally this quickly. I too wonder if this 100 days came from her doctor/surgeon "Show me you're serious about wanting to change over the next 3 months and we'll see what we can do regarding wls" Could easily explain the apparent good news that would make her immediately stop jenny craig and switch to the 1800 calories a day target.

It might be self pay so she can avoid some of the conditions for insurance to cover the procedure. I believe the weight loss condition is insurance related while cardiac clearance is a way for the doctor to cover their ass if she dies on the table.

Different topic- wanted to say that the items being sold don’t make sense for needing cash. Who the actual f wants someone’s old garbage pail kids stickers?! The items seem like things that may be sentimental or emotionally charged for Becky. Maybe these are things that Becky can’t be around without reliving moments with Amber in her mind theater. That makes me sad actually. Maybe they really did break up. I don’t remember who said this the other day, but it’s very true that if Becky doesn’t leave Amber, she will be breaking a long streak.
