The reason why bariatric surgeons ask patients to go on 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day is not only to lose weight before the surgery but also to see if they would be able to tolerate the smaller calory intake after the surgery during the maintenance phase. If it’s anything it’s a hinderance For the reason of- when a pt (patient) is insured the dr knows what tests and procedures they are able to choose from, they have a fully stocked tool box per se. when a pt is ‘self pay’ or uninsured, the dr will be apprehensive or flat out refuse to embark on exploratory type procedures because this individual can decide to stop paying & want to pick an choose what tests they want done or what meds they want. Amber thinks she’s ordering ala carte. TLDR/Medicine is still medicine Amber regardless of how the hospital got paid. Self pay is how polite people say uninsured, it’s not impressive, it implies you’re going to be a problem patient.

I am sure that some surgeons, like Dr. Nowzaradan, do surgery on people over 550 pounds. However, for people over 550 pounds with sleep apnea, binging and other mental disorders, and recent cancer surgery, I am not so sure.

I think that it was a foregone conclusion that she quit before the car trip to the bariatric surgeon. Why bothering with having a diet when you are hoping to get bariatric surgery instead.
