@Android Raptor Hate Thread

I think @Android raptor can be funny. I disagree with them on a lot of stuff, but i appreciate the ability that she has to talk her piece. I think what she says is generally not something I find great, but its good that I read things I find either very disagreeable or down right nasty.
this reads like it was AI generated

I assume both those animals hiss.

What's her position on bearded dragons?
They're fun, I just don't have the capacity to properly care for one. I love seeing my friends beardies and helping care for them :)

My first tarantula is currently dying from an illness that came out of nowhere (DKS, which isn't an illness itself but a symptom of an underlying issue like toxin exposure). Ngl I am pretty fucked up mentally rn so if I go off or get crazier than normal, that's probably why.

I'm trying to keep her dark, warm, quiet, and hydrated. Vet care for inverts is a field in its infancy and there's very little we know currently about their illnesses and how to treat them. I actually emailed some vets that have spoken and wrote a paper on DKS, not expecting anything but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I hope it gets better in my lifetime. This is the worst part about keeping invertebrates and it fucking kills me that my girl, who was supposed to be with me for another 10 years, is dying and there's basically nothing I can do because even the experts don't know what exactly this shit is and how to treat it.

I'm not religious, but I'd appreciate you autists keeping my girl in your thoughts or praying or whatever you believe. It's not like there's anything else that can be done.

Ah I see so you’re basically like a swan!

Sorry to hear about the tarantula though, they’re delightful pets and hopefully your girl gets better.
Thank you. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. She's barely clinging to life and when shit gets bad with inverts, it usually doesn't get better. They're such delicate creatures and we still know so little about how to care for them.

If nothing else, I hope I'm making her as comfortable as possible. I don't know what she could've been exposed to since I'm very careful and I haven't seen any signs of trouble with any of my other guys (just a few dead hissers I have no reason to believe were anything other than adults who died of old age, some were individuals I know had been around for a while and haven't seen any roaches showing neurological symptoms). That said, I can't rule it out. It's hard not knowing or even having a way to find out because vet science just isn't there yet.

So far 2024 sucks and I hope with everything in me that it's not gonna get worse.

That's horrible, I'm so sorry. :( :( :( There isn't anything worse than having your friend that you are supposed to care for going through that and being unable to help them. My bearded dragon went through an illness a couple months ago and while we were trying to diagnose what was going on she started dragging her back leg and I lost my mind.

I hope the Great Spider blesses your friend for a full recovery or calls her back to Tarantula Heaven soon so you both don't have to suffer.

I didn’t know about all the specifics of arachnid vet care but I knew enough to make sure I had a healthy crawler. They’re freaky looking but in a cute way.

2024 does suck as I feel nothing has changed for the better. This year I promised to get a new job so maybe some Kiwis can catch me on Live Leak.

One of my friends lost her beardie last year suddenly and it was hard for her and everyone else. She just found him dead with no warning. Our best guess is it was just age and possible underlying health issues. He was a rescue that has some MBD, and IIRC was at least 6 years old. I think it's possible the damage done by the MBD shortened his life even after receiving proper care.

Vet shit with reptiles is further along than it is with inverts, but there's still a lot we don't know with them.

Born too late to avoid the bug/exotic animal life, born too early to have vets know how to treat all their illnesses :(

Sorry to hear about your girl. What a nightmare. I had to look it up because I don't know anything about pet spiders but no innocent creature deserves to suffer like that.

(only here due to your public suggestion in the Epstein thread
Don't like it? Then don't seek attention in a front page thread)

I would smash your tarantula without a thought.
Which would be a proper end to an animal suffering.
Imagine spending money on caring for something so insignificant.
Similar to me paying for your welfare and medicare.

Please. As a favor to yourself, this site, and the world...
End all our suffering.

I looked it up and apparently the most humane way is dry ice. I guess you can't take them for a needle like a dog. Smashing seems inhumane, though there was a cow who did that to a living kitten that fell from her deck.

I love how Android is an active participant in her Hate Thread.

Tell me how much you crave attention, without telling me how much you crave attention.
I mean if someone made a thread about you, would you not participate?

Euthanasia has crossed my mind but I'm going to keep fighting as long as she does, but also keep her as comfortable as possible.

One of the vets that wrote the paper emailed me back and suggested trying to see if I can get her to drink a salt water solution. Even if it's too late to save her, that's good info in case any of my other spiders get sick.

Is that like Gatorade for when a human is sick? What is the most ethical way if a spider does need euthanasia?
