I'm pretty sure that Youtube's current algorithm puts comments and likes/dislikes at the top of the list of criteria to recommend vids and make them pop up on the front page. That's part of the reason TB seems to have dropped out of my recommend feed overnight. So yes, Joe might just have done the most detrimental thing he could do to his growth by disabling fan interaction.

I will keep bringing it up till I am blue in the face, but fan interaction is integral to Youtube viability. Unlike an actor/actress, you don't really have a talent agency to get you gigs, you don't get events booked like a normal entertainer and you don't have the ability to weather the storm if you would do something really stupid. Why all these Youtubers that feel like they don't have to engage with others is beyond baffling to me.

I've never liked his smug face and fake personality so I only have seen some of the real popular videos of his. That said I read more of this thread and thought what the hell how much worse can the episode reviews be.

Week old garbage in July.

Funny thing is I just went on a Jake Paul binge and this shit is equally cringe. JP is just dumb but this pandering sort of cringe is atrocious.

Also who the fuck thought it was a good idea to get a halfsie Joe that looks just like his step brother to sit next to him. It's distracting as fuck.

1 part ego (I don't have to explain myself to anyone) and 1 part it still being a new platform. It is also the fault of the handlers or whatever you call the people like Disney that "own" certain channels.

I don't know if AJ has a handler, but it seems like handlers just let their YouTubers run wild, and while that does seem somewhat smart (Don't fix what isn't broken) at the same time there needs to be someone on alert when something like this goes down so they can step in and tell the YouTuber to stop being an asshat and realize they do have a job, a job very much like customer service, and if you're an asshat in customer service you won't last very long at all.

The transformation into DSP is going at full force, as its the "Haters/Trolls/Detractors" who are out to ruin him in a grand conspiracy. Going to be interesting as it goes on, as it clearly is effecting him from this 30 minute video.

That's a good way to put it. A tv channel of "handlerless" celebrities now that YouTube has gotten so big it's no longer just folks making videos. It's the equivalent of giving any random person a GoPro and prime time tv spot. It's no wonder really.

I call bullshit. Joe knows that sites like Socialblade exist right? Because of his actions this year his channel no longer has any growth. Doesn't matter if he adds filler if no one is watching them and your subscriber count drops 200 or more people a day. One fuck up for him (like his vacation) and it's all over for his channel.

That's the Devil's bargain with all Celebrity. It's just that with something like CHannel Awesome and Youtube it happens so much faster, and the benefits at the highs are so pathetically much less than real traditional celebrity.

There are always exceptions to any rule. PewDiePie is kinda like a black hole, with such massive pull he wont stop growing unless he collapses on himself in an epic chimp fit. His content will get old once the "LOLWANDOM EDITS AND CLICKBAIT" fad ends in a few years. If he is smart, he is already set for life though, so chimping is doubtful (at worst, he makes more in a month then I do in a year. He has been doing this for years, imagine the investment returns....)

AJ may be more screwed depending on if he blew all the money he has made over the years. His youtube income is collapsing and if he did not properly invest he will be panicking right now.
