Short of directly implementing sex and yiff simulation, the game already comes with all the necessary tools for grooming. The fact he added an 18+ rating on top of all the fetish customization speaks volumes. I can deal with a game having moddable NSFW options because they aren't automatically available to everyone, but here the intent is clear. Best case scenario, no children were harmed and it's actually just a den of faggots in a massive self-reinforcing circlejerk.

I don't play the game so I have no idea what other "titles" there are, but presumably they have a bunch of gay shit. Very necessary for a game about fishing as a cutesy kid friendly animal character. The psychological ploy is obvious: Create a game with characters designed to appeal to children, present it as a "oh you just fish and maybe chat with cool people!" and then these kids join to discover everyone is some variation of queer and in order to fit in, they start identifying in these ways too. If Roblox is anything to go by (and it ought to be) it shouldn't matter if 'the average kid isn't playing it' right now. It's very clear what sort of community installed themselves into that game, and what sort of sexual content they're after. The game itself has baked-in items regarding petplay and ageplay, and the lead dev himself launched the game making it a point that you can engage in sexplay in the game.

It shouldn't matter if there are 'only' 100, 50, 10, 0 children playing the game right now, because the groundwork for abuse is already laid out. While Webfishing is not (and probably will not be) as big as Roblox it has all the same basic ingredients; open and unmoderated communication between minors and adults, obtainable items related to sexual behavior and fetish gear, and user-generated content to promote sexual conduct. The developer has (and ignored) a responsibility to keep children out of his game knowing full well the exact sort of degenerate audience it attracts.

Roblox though is and has always been a children's game. I have doubts that webfishing was ever intended for children, and anything with text/voice communication can be used for grooming purposes. Should the dev warn people about the dangers that naturally come with chatrooms? Yes, and in a very lazy way he does on the steam page. Is not taking that to the point where you explicitly mention how people can maybe talk about sex akin to grooming children? That's a huge stretch.

You do not have to look far on this website to find a thread where some community of sick adults was attempting to or successfully lure children into their communities where the whole point is to use them for sexual gratification. With how the game has little to no filter, the dev should at least put a warning about this. Yes, that is what I'm arguing. Multiple things can be true at once. It can be humour, it can be sexually motivated, and it can be unfunny. You can accurately observe that a particular line was probably written with an erection, but that doesn't suddenly make the game explicitly pornographic.
