Armored Core

I am currently trying to do an entire playthrough with an obsolete AC gimmick. My current rules:

-BASHO head/arms/core/legs only
-No energy weapons
-No missiles
-No "advanced" projectile weapons (including but not limited to linear guns or the stun dart except in the one mission it is required)
-No shotguns
-No energy based melee weapons

I am also trying to stick with combustion engines and old ass boosters where possible but I may need to unclench on this a little for some of the later bosses. So far, cleared up past Balteus without any real trouble.
Post your build parts please. Don't do a AC Data share code because it reveals your steam account.

RA: MA-J-200 RANTETSU-RF
LA: MA-J-201 RANTETSU-AR
RB: SB-033M MORLEY
LB: WB-0010 DOUBLE TROUBLE

Frame is all the BASHO parts

Booster: AB-J-137 KIKAKU
FCS: FC-008 TALBOT
Generator: DF-GN-06 MING-TANG

I will probably adjust the hand weapons and shoulder gun as necessary within my rules but the chainsaw is staying. The KIKAKU actually has a useful advantage: it increases the range of your melee lunge and tracking by like 80m.

Some people say the game is too hard, some say it's too easy, some see a canvas to make their own fun. Reminds me of arguing over AC3 builds back in the day. It wasn't particularly viable to make a Gundam in that game - but you could!

Got the "bad" ending. Ironically it is far better mechanically and emotionally than the waifu ending, especially with a final boss that isn't a previous boss with more bullshit attacks (though it does recycle a move from Malenia).

Speaking of, it's amazing how easier and faster NG+ is, it's probably because I'm already using a broken build (which I didn't even look online for) and know where the fuck I need to go.

Kinda wish the original game would have been more forgiving in the first run only to increase move sets and enemy stats on NG+.

Also I still don't understand if Rubiconians are humans, aliens, or humans merged with aliens.

I still can’t believe killing the head parasite that betrays and manipulates you is the “bad” ending. The game tries so hard to make you feel bad for Arye it’s painful.

I mean she hasn't gone the full length of causing you to hallucinate shit or intentionally lying to you. At least as far as the game goes before the third playthrough. It also seems in general that the pilots are all interfaced through coral to their mechs, so it's not that she's that distant from you.

Yep, the augmentation process uses Coral.

Speaking of actual lore, found a log somewhere from the head RRI doctor where he mentions an assistant who went whacko and left a son behind since his wife had died prior, with a female researcher winding up as his new caretaker. Hmm... wonder who those two people might be? Being part of the RRI would explain why Carla had a bunch of tech wizards and could take over all of RaD in six months.

Finally got the game. Still avoiding the thread for the most part, but as someone that played AC1 and a good chunk of AC3, the AC is a shit ton more nimble, my god it's so buttery smooth and I don't miss the old style one bit. It does feel too nimble sometimes since I've meleed into nothing more times that I care to admit and the power boost I'm still getting used to.

I have already gotten the meno that hard lock is more like a recomendation, I'm mostly going by monster hunter logic and moving the right stick all over the place. Still getting used to the controls since I'm not used to missile lockon if I want to spread, I swear I'm holding R1 but it still focuses all of them on the same target.

Took me like 6-7 attempts to take down the chopper (very shamefur, specially knowing that I just have to stab it). My biggest take away is that melee is still very finicky and you better be properly aligned when power boosting or you will go everywhere expect were you want.

Aside from that, did the first mission, though I'm getting hit way too much for my liking and on the first two maps was loiking around to find parts but no cigar. Now have the shop but the motherfuckers don't let me sell base parts, so for now upgrade head, buy left shoulder missiles and sell leftover guns to hopefully upgrade something else is the plan.

Enjoying it for sure, but the AC still feels like a wild bronco, so I expect to eat a lot of shit with the chapter 1 boss while things click.

I'm in NG++ and just did the Attack the Dam Complex where you can choose to attack the 2 dudes you're there with. But in NG+ when I did this, a third AC came in who was part of the Raven 'group' that I had to fight. But in NG++ the last part didn't happen.

Did I fuck something up? This is the first mission choice you make I think, so dunno what it could be.

You're thinking of "Defend the Dam Complex." In the Attack the Dam decision, you fight two redguns aligned ACs if you choose to betray them. In Defend you fight against two independent ACs with Raven showing up later.

I just finished it. I already said it on this topic so it's not a surprise, but I hated this game.

I completed the 5th chapter in a few minutes completely rushing it, with all voices muted and skipping every cutscene. It was probably sheer autism on my part, but the game is expensive so I just wanted to at least remove it from my backlog.

Since I was skipping everything I didn't even know what ending I got, it doesn't matter anyway. Completely braindead game, really fucking disappointed coming from the devs who gave us fucking Sekiro. Seriously, how can they make a masterpiece just to blow that hard on their next project?

Armored Core VI is an idiotic button masher. Just span the OP weapons - because the others are total trash - and tank your way to victory. Imagine doing that to isshin!

I died zero times in most missions, The only complicated boss was the final one in chapter 4, but then again, just put the needles on your shoulders and move on. There's no variety in the gameplay, the same bullshit over and over. A mind-numbing easy game with one bullshit hard boss that is not even fun to play.

And it's short, too. 12 hours and it's over. No wonder they locked half of the game on the NG++. Fucking niggers.

DarksydePhil literally did that to Isshin and won with ease. so.....

also the irony of "the game is too short" combined with "they locked all the new content behind NG++"

so...you didn't actually finish the game and said it was too short? you only do route A on Nier Automata too?

"Boy, the food here is terrible!"
"I know! And such small portions!"

I really like this game, but you got some points right. AC6 is pretty easy to exploit and I myself expected more in terms of difficulty, especially regarding Arena fights/1v1s. It's funny that you've mentioned Sekiro, which was my first FromSoft game that I actually finished and still love to his day. Completed DS1 a few years after. I have to admit that the stagger system was misplaced in AC6.

I do think that this title is a good entry for getting into the FS games who have never played them yet. For veterans it seems to be a little bit lackluster. But AC6 is still a fun game for people who like fast (or fat) mechs doing cool shit.
