Armored Core

The smelter demonbot was annoying because this build just isn't good at getting airtime :(

i'm getting absolutely filtered by the helicopter at the beginning of the game and i'm loving it
Assault Boost under it and melee the fuck out of it's underbelly. Spam everything else while doing this. Take cover behind buildings when it goes out of bounds. Seems difficult at first but once the pattern clicks it's easy.

Finished the last ending and oh boy, fuck ALLMIND.
No, really, fuck its collective consciousness AI circuitry, it's all ganking back to back. Not helping that I'm committing to a different build other than dual Zimmy-fucks-everything.

Got the third ending, the final boss was just a random guy I killed in multiple missions, which was a massive letdown, not too tough, especially as the last stage he just rushes at you which makes him an easy target. The ending was weird, not really understand if the entirety of humanity became ACs, or just AC pilots were combined with the coral?

The game is a 6/10, fun but just not very deep. Plot is basically non-existent, with the game never building up the various forces or letting you choose who to back. Some characters are fun but there are like 10 different pilots on each corp so no one gets a lot of development. The stages are large but you never really use their geography to your advantage (which makes the various leg types not very important). The combat is where the game really shits the bed, as the stagger bar is just badly implemented and basically forces you to play only with explosive and impact weapons since you need to stagger enemies to actually start reducing their health, and fast ACs are basically a death sentence the moment you slip up (and don't have enough weight to carry the harder hitting weapons). I'd guess the online element is more balanced than single player, but it's probably filled with single player meta build. Makes me wonder who the fuck play tested the game (and it was just as bad with Elden Ring).

If I could have made changes, I'd have removed the stagger completely (or at least made it just a status effect like burning, with temporary defence down rather than permenant), or maybe added impact and energy weapons have their own status effects. And at least set the weapons to be tiered so you'd actually have some sort of weapon progression, since for 70% of it I used the exact same build which is pretty shameful. Balancing primarily single player games for online is a mistake, makes everything too samey.

I wish the game had the same level of customization as AC4/4A had. Being able to tune and enhance individual stats, auxiliary weapon containers in the legs, plus more non-weapon parts for the shoulders like extra boosters and whatnot. Wish the pace was a smidge faster, but I get that the pace was slowed down to accommodate some of those bosses. Some weapons need a buff too. I don't think nerfing Zimmermans or Songbirds is the answer, but rifles and shit could definitely use a bit of a buff to make them actually useful against non-grunts.

I think there's a solid foundation here and hopefully it gets some good post-launch support. It's not perfect. High 6/low 7 for me. It's growing on me now that I'm a bit onto NG++.

I still can’t believe killing the head parasite that betrays and manipulates you is the “bad” ending. The game tries so hard to make you feel bad for Arye it’s painful.
>Not trusting your schizo coral tulpa gf over walter, your state mandated tard wrangler
SMH normalfag ur NGMI (With that said I went with walter on my first playthrough because he's cool and carla busts your ass out of the reeducation camp)

Just finished all the achievements for the game, overall 8/10. Very fun base mechanics but diminished somewhat by the poor balancing of the weapons and the ease of breaking the stagger. Makes me excited for a sequel that further refines the formula.

I started a new game and am going through S-Ranking the missions with chapter/mission restricted weapons. While sure it's easy enough to go through the game, unlock the end game stuff, and then go back and cheese it; I decided to try it a more difficult way. Just got done with Operation Wallclimber; and so far, the sword is doing a lot of the heavy lifting, to include most of the damage to bring down the Strider's Eye.

Edit: The Investigate the BAWS Arsenal No. 2 mission is a pain in the fucking ass for S-Rank.

My biggest complaint is not having a dot/grid and just letting us pixel art our own designs. I'm not artistic enough to be able to craft something by layering different decals and such; but I can fucking autisticly go dot by dot and color by color.

Got all three endings, all that's left is the S-rank. My only real complaint is the stagger system. I get what they were going for, and it's arguably implemented better than the previous generation's "you must be over this arbitrary defense value or you're getting buttfucked by grenades" version, but the fact most high-damage weapons also have high impact values pushes the player towards more bursty setups while leaving series mainstays like assault rifles and machine guns that aren't gatlings by the wayside. This one's more personal, but I couldn't take the true last boss seriously. Making him some dude whose ass you beat over and over is kind of funny, but I'd have rather fought Allmind itself without "ghost in the machine" shenanigans.

As for balance stuff, From's released regulation tweaks in past AC's, we'll have to see. While I'd like to see the rest of the weapons brought up to Zimmerman's level, realistically it's probably going to eat a nerf.

Favorite combo's been the laser shotty in the right hand, lance in the left, right shoulder the orbit launcher, and left shoulder the double-bladed "laser slicer". Charge and pop orbits while you're charging in, shoot to stagger if the lance connects, then slice them to finish. Yes, the charged bunker does more damage, but this is easier to land and looks cooler.

I have to admit that the stagger system was misplaced in AC6.
Same. Its a definite negative for laser weapons since they have very little stagger. On the other hand since plasma weapons do stagger for every damage tick of their AoE field they're surprisingly good at it.

And as mentioned by the guy above basic rifles and MGs struggle since its all about burst damage to maximize stagger, and more burst damage to take advantage of the stagger.

Only have S-Ranks left to do but finished all of the content otherwise. I still think its a good game and a fine entry for the franchise but with plenty of caveats. The stagger bar is the biggest issue, other than it being a central mechanic to doing damage almost every aspect of the game has to be balanced around it. This is just speculation by me but that's the reason there are no shoulder shotguns or miniguns. The maps are more interesting than 4/FA but they never get creative with the missions in them like with 2-LR. I think the most memorable mission was when you're on the spaceship destroying the warship fleet, but that's also a lesser version of the one where you destroy the Cradles in FA. I'm glad there is a ranking system but there's not much incentive to other than completion, older games you got parts or missions, and in FA you would get tuning points which really felt like a reward. The second half of Balteus and all of the later bosses also had attacks that fit more in DS/ER and all of them were terrible and did not fit the game. Looking forward to the expansion I guess.

Whelp. Just met Baltheus. Did 2 attempts, noticed this was going to be a time sink and will retry in a couple of days where I know I can put multiple hours in a row.

First impression is my loadout must not be too bad since I blew a third of it's health while fighting it in a manner that can only be described as "spazzing the fuck out". Have a quad leg setup with grenade launcher, chargeable laser rifle and 2 racks of top down missiles, one plasma and one normal, though I also tried the fuck you mounted laser as well.

Will still take a nice long time in the garage before trying again and pay attention to barrier busting or whatever the fuck the stat is.

Before that one I had the Dark Souls 2 homage boss, also known as "the fucking gank squad". So the faggot with the whip died like a bitch, but the sniper 3 wrecked me. On attempt 2, whip faggot gave me a bit more trouble, but this time I did manage to find the snipers but fuck me, my sensor must be ASS because they didn't do shit for me. Took down the last one going full spaz out with 300 life left, barely made any money on that mission but a win is a win.

Finally also have the arena and did quick work of the 3 muppets.

Also, have found 0 hidden parts, though knowing AC I'm sure there are at least 3. But for now I'm fine going blind and I'll worry about that on NG+.

i made a kiwi. it's not very good but it'll do for now

Every enemy (the few that there are) in that mission all begin in the same location; a number of which are hidden and can be ambushed. In the final room, they all spawn at the same place regardless. As for your visual scanner, you may not always be able to see them; but your enemy indicator at the bottom of your screen (with the compass numbers) will always show a red icon, even when they're cloaked.

I was pretty bored until I got to the Balteus, but this fight changed my whole opinion on this game, it's so fucking good.
Killed him after a couple of hours, using a light mech with focus on airtime, double riffles and a shoulder switch to a sword.
The soundtrack during the fight is also fucking great. Some of the best songs From Software has put out.

Hopefully there are more bosses like him. I played a bit more and the furnace robot wasn't as fun.

My low tech BASHO playthrough continues. Amusingly I took out CATAPHRACT ultra fast, which I wasn't really expecting. The second helicopter fight was difficult since I ran out of ammo partways through and had to finish with only punches, kicks, and the pile bunker, but I managed.
