Assassin's Creed thread

I have an inkling we'll be looking fondly at Shadows and reminisce how it wasn't that bad once the Polish pozz collective shits out Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2.
There is absolutely zero chance of Witcher 4 or Cyberpunk Orion being worse than Ubislop, get real.

There's hating and then there's just being completely delusional.

On the other hand, KCD2 demonstrates that the ratchet only turns left.

And Poland is quickly pozzing as well (while CDPR's American offices are in blue pozz zones), so I think it's all up in the air.

Cyberpunk released in an absolutely amazingly shit state. Do you not remember the golden hilarity of the post-release footage?

They had an anime tie-in that proved to be popular with lolicons, therefore all sins are forgiven
Nevermind that the game is still fundamentally only less broken than at launch and that it is still full of cut content, even after the "2.0" rebrand.

If Ubi would have dropped the trying so hard to crowbar the weird animus/abstergo/templar stuff into AC post AC3 and AC4 i feel the games would have been a lot more enjoyable and less restrictive. Go full alt history like Wolfenstien because you Origins and forward you get the feeling they really want to drop this nonsense and lean more into the fantastical but because it's AC they need to strictly try to stay with the formula.
They should have let Desmond be an actual assassin. Dropping him right when he was getting headway was fucking retarded.
I find it ironic people have asked Assassin's Creed game set in japan playing as Hattori Hanzo, and he is the final boss of the game getting hit shit kicked in by a women. Now that is pure humiliation ritual.
You can't be fucking serious.

It's also hilarious that every time they've attempted dual protagonists it's so they can have both a man and a woman because Ubisoft desperately wants people to play as the female character, but fears sales will be abysmal with a sole female protagonist.

This is new to me. And I don’t buy it (the execs’ fears).

There’s a huge overlap in the fandom with Gacha slop games, and you’ll notice the biggest sellers are female characters. It’s not even close. They’ll even outright genderbend males to women, to the point the most common complaint from women is that men are vastly outnumbered. Some female characters have brought more money than this game ever will out of sheer male fanboyism.

Now, if they plan to have an ugly female main character, then yeah—they’ll fail. That’s a given. But an attractive one? It’d sell like hotcakes. I see zero reason people wouldn't be lining up for a cute or pretty assasin character. Even this game wouldn't be so deep in the water with a cute female ninja lead (but they really should've gone with a japanese dude).

The real issue is they want to have their cake and eat it: a female character, that is also a ugly (because men liking sexy women bad), and/or a obnoxious girl boss to “own the chuds.” This type of female character would fail and they know it.

The more I hear about this game the more I am convinced it was made out of hate and spite.
That seems to accurately describe a good number of modern video game development projects.

Sad thing is that'll continue unchanged until the money funding it finally starts drying up. We're getting there ... this game would have killed Ubisoft if Tencent hadn't bought perpetual IP licenses at the resulting fire sale.

When it comes to characters to play as representations of themselves, the vast majority of guys will go with something like them. The Human Male Fighter meme exists for a reason.

Gacha slop may appear different... but it's really not. You have to keep in mind that a key detail in gacha slop games is that they'll have an offscreen character act as the protagonist stand-in, someone that everyone else talks to and someone for audiences to project themselves onto - and they're usually depicted as either ambiguous or male. Blue Archive has Sensei, Kancolle has the Admiral, Arkknights has the doctor, I could go on. And it's that layer of seperation from the gacha pulls that allow male players to chase female characters without fearing themselves being of the Big Gay.

Slightly off topic but I'm gonna be real with you. I've come to notice A LOT of males who insist on wanting to play as big booby female characters almost always turn out to be trannies from my experience.
You already know they have the symptoms when their argument is the classic "Well if I'm going to be staring at ass all game it might as well be hot ass." which already raises red flags for reasons I hopefully shouldn't even need to explain.
So I'm always wary of those types of people for that reason.

Though I should also give the caveat that this usually applies to games that give you the choice, usually games that allow you to create your own character. Not games where you literally have no choice. So there's that at least.
They're almost always either trannies. Or scammers trying to catfish people, (If it's some kind of multiplayer game or something. Usually MMOs.) either or. While both are bad the catfish somehow seems more respectable.
I mean I guess there is sometimes the very rare exception where they're just regular pornsick men but they are few and far between somehow.

Ubisoft is, for all intents and purposes, dead - Tencent now controls everything of worth that they have.

Depends on the game. If the only protagonist in the game is a female one, like in Tomb Raider, that's not really a cause for concern, but if the game gives you a choice and you default to the female character, or worse, if it's an RPG and you make your "waifu", then yeah, that's a good indicator that you're at risk of trooning out.

I would say that the Tencent deal isn't death, but it is the first step onto death row. Even if the big three turn around, they might not be profitable enough with tencent's cut for ubisoft to buy back what was sold; Ubisoft would need vastly better performance - in both it's main and side franchises - than it has shown itself capable of to right it's course to the point it can buy back those properties.

Japanese politicians are talking about Asmongold talking about Japanese politicians talking about the game. No, this is not a joke. We have hit some kind of weird recursive timeline.

Asmongold gets a shoutout by the Japanese parliament for shitting on Shadows meanwhile Hasan gets paid by Ubisoft to shill it.

Life is fun sometimes.
