I played and beat the game earlier. It's fairly short but a good few moments had me laughing. It's a shame there aren't more eyes on Yasuke Simulator because they're missing out on gems like these:


Anyway, here's SteamDBs rankings comparing the two in sales.

The only thing Yasuke Simulator currently has over Assassin's Creed Shadows is an overwhelming positive reception.

Well yes, because as I said the image speaks for itself. It's the new and trending tab, not the top sellers tab. It's still laughable that some shit like Yasuke Simulator ends up higher on that than Ubislop's latest trash fire. No one said a damned thing about sales of Yasuke Simulator.

REMINDER that Ubislop's AAAA pirate game didn't have boarding (when you boarded it was just a 3 second cutscene and it skipped to the loot menu) but RGG's latest Yakuza game which is a quick pirate-themed cash-grab has boarding mechanics and crazy combat on top of the ship's deck.

Interestingly, Ubisoft stopped by the r/macgaming subreddit to post a statement.

Hello everyone and Happy Launch Day!

We wanted to take some time to add some precision concerning the macOS version of Assassin's Creed Shadows. First, we are very proud to have been able to support macOS natively at launch. This version is not a port but a first class platform we are delivering to the players. We have worked very hard in collaboration with Apple to make it happen.

Apple and Ubisoft have partnered together because we both believed that Apple Sillicon M-Series is powerful enough to run a game this one, where we put everything we could in terms of latest technology. Raytracing Illumination, Virtualized Geometry, SSLR, Strands-based Rendering for hair etc. Of course, the usage of those features depend greatly on the model you are playing on.

As a reminder, you can find the spec sheet for the macOS version here, Question 14.

We intend, in further updates of the game, to provide more scalability to have better support for older but capable devices. Also, the game hasn't been tweak at launch to sustain 60 fps. This is something that we will have a look later as well.

We hope you will enjoy playing Assassin's Creed Shadows on Mac. Rest assured that it is well supported and that it will improve in the future.

(In short, at the moment, it runs fairly badly on Mac. An M4 MBP can hit 30 fps on low settings and MetalFX enabled. Seems to be an optimisation issue, since reports are the GPU's not at full load, and the neural engine (handles upscaling) has very little use.

I really fail to see how Nasu was shitting on "the white man". If anything he just seems to be doing something he has actual fun with and over in Japan they actually used Fate characters to sell translated editions of famous and well-regarded Western literature in bookstores in Japan.

By your logic I should be offended by the Dexter's Lab episode where Dex and Mandark turn Washington and Lincoln's heads on Mt. Rushmore into Franken-Golem robots. And I thought that was AWESOME and also hilarious.

tl;dr: Can you at least list some examples?

I'm interested in exploring the old towns of that era and exploring around doing cool side mission shit. You even get a prototype for what would become 4's sailing mechanics, even tho there isn't that much you can do with it here. Yeah, AC3 was amazing because not many games let you explore those settings. At most you get strategy games, but never anything that close.

Valhalla was just garbage, the sand-nigger is the secret antagonist all game long and the story just strings you along without offering you any chance to do anything about him, only to then twist it making him your "ally" while the player should logically hate the fucking dumbass. Depending on who you play
he leads your "blood brother/sister" down the path of insanity to free his alien lover from an ancient artifact
. But hey, thats ok because you are supposed to somehow just "like" that guy anyway.

Ubisoft trying to shove the Middle Eastern sympathy down your throat while the character actually played you for the entire fucking story and somehow you are supposed to just be ok with that. And then they make the next middle eastern spin off trash game with him as the protagonist.

When I finished the story I was seething, because I wanted to join the Templars and murder everyone involved in that story line.
A female character in that story and culture makes no sense at all and how Ubisoft shoves their liberal approach to sexuality into every game, as if a female could just "fuck around" without consequences. It is hilarious tone-deaf and anachronistic and an obvious shove of modern politics and culture war trash into a historic setting it has no place in.
